"amy, we need to talk"
amy was still frozen in shock. the rest of the guest's eyes were still all over her and eddie, and amy was beginning to feel dizzy with all of the extra attention placed on her.
amy slowly looked up at eddie.
his arms were flexed as he leaned one arm on the booth and another on the table. he was breathing heavily and was sweating profusely. he was a deep shade of red from anger, and amy had never seen him so worked up before.
"eddie, take a deep breath, okay? can you do that for me?" she let out, still stunned at his sudden change in demeanor. not once, had she seen eddie ever been this worked up. she looked over at chris to see if he was used to this, but his expression matched hers: utterly confused.
amy's eyes lingered on chris before switching back over to eddie. his breathing had leveled out, and he seem more in his head than before.
she looked around and only a few eyes still lingered on the trio, but most of the restaurant goers' attention were back on their meals. she let out a sigh of relief and got up from her seat.
"where are you going?" both eddie and chris whispered at the same time.
"i...., i need some fresh air." she stared at her shoes for a split second before quietly walking outside.
she opened the big glass door of the fancy eatery and made her way outside to a bench that sat perpendicular to the path to the entrance.
she slowly sat down and tilted her head up, closed her eyes, and focused on her breathing.
why couldn't anyone tell her to take a deep breath?
she stayed like that for a few minutes before she heard the door open and close once more. she listened for footsteps before she felt the space on the bench beside her be occupied.
amy still kept her eyes shut, waiting until the person beside her spoke.
"y'know, i don't think breaking up with beth in this fancy restaurant was my best idea." the baritone voice beside her rang in her ears, and she couldn't help but quietly chuckle.
"you didn't think that one through, did ya?" she opened one eye to sneak a glance at the man, but was surprised when she saw him already staring at her.
"nope." he giggled, and relaxed down onto the uncomfortable bench.
the pair shared comfortable silence for a few moments, amy re-adjusting her jewelry, and eddie untying and tying his dress shoes.
amy finally broke the silence.
"there's a huge problem in my life, ed." she rushed out, turning her head to look at the lead singer beside her.
eddie tilted his head to meet her eyes as well. "what is it?" he asked, his blue eyes illuminated by the neon sign behind them.
"you." amy chuckled.
eddie laughed. "i guess so," he glanced back at her, "but i hope i'm not nuisance in you life."
amy furrowed her brows at that. "a nuisance?"
eddie never took his gaze off of her. "well, ya know, i'm being a bit bipolar, don't you think? flirtin' with you then going right back to beth. must've been confusing for you."
amy slowly processed the information, she slightly confused.
"why would it be confusing for me? i got that you don't, or maybe didn't, want anything to do with me. quite sure i knew what you wanted."
the blue eyed man laughed and looked back over at amy.
"if you know what i wanted, you and i would be in this fancy restaurant on a date, instead of you and chris."
amy quickly flicked her eyes back at eddie.
"i don't- i don't, what?" she rushed out, shaking her head the tiniest bit, trying to piece together the mess of things in her head.
eddie sighed and gently grabbed the sides of amy's face and pulled her into a kiss. amy sat frozen for a few seconds before melting into eddie.
the pair kissed until their lungs burned. when they pulled away, eddie breathed out, "that's what i want."
eddie and amy were taken out of their own little world when they heard a cough.
the two looked in front of them at the person who wanted their attention. amy's heart fell when she saw who it was.
chris.
amy got up.
"chris...." she let out.
"came out here to see if you guys had worked something out," he paused and looked between the two of them, "i think you guys made up pretty well." he seethed.
"chris we can talk this out." eddie tried.
"i think we're done here." chris spoke, venom lacing his words. he threw amy's flowers in the trash can beside the bench, and walked down the path into the parking lot.
amy and eddie watched as he got into his car and speedily drove away, his car fading in with the hundreds of other cars on the road.
amy sat with her mouth agape.
what was she supposed to do now?
