Hazel Wood spent most of her life thinking she was ordinary, nothing special, plain. Until one night she got angry. The kind of angry that makes you go blind for a few seconds. The kind of angry where your brain can't even function so you don't speak because you're trying to comprehend and process the anger you feel.
Unlike most people however, Hazel's anger killed a man.
She would argue it wasn't on purpose when she called her mother hysterical. She didn't mean too. She loved him despite everything. She didn't know how she did it. She doesn't even know what happened. All she remembers was screaming at him and then everything shattered, the lights went off. When they came back he was on the floor, not moving. Not breathing.
She screamed again. Trying to beat his chest in a bad attempt of CPR. She begged him to wake up, the joke wasn't funny anymore. She opened his eyes, listened for a heartbeat. And screamed even louder when there was no response. She had killed him.
Even though Hazel didn't know what had happened. Her mother and father did. And they were afraid. She was uncontrollable clearly, unknown to her powers. A ticking time bomb that already went off once with the possibility of blowing up again. So they helped her hide what she did.
And then they sent her away.
That's how she ended up on the plane to a small town named Forks. She was moving from the big city of Atlanta, to a town that had a tiny population of 3,122 people. She was sent away to live with a grandmother. A woman her mother only talked negatively about. A woman Hazel hadn't even met before.
