"Someone better explain to me what the hell is going on right now" Hazel seethed looking at the 3 adults in the room, her fury only increasing as her parents eyes shot to the floor, ignoring her, "if you don't tell me I swear to god I will turn you into a frog."
"Hazel!" Her mother shrieked, holding her hand to her chest in fear, her father looking up in shock at the threat. Melinda was the only one who rolled her eyes.
"Get a grip Katie, she doesn't know how to do that. Yet" her grandmother scoffed and then walked over to Hazel slowly, "calm down now."
"Calm down? Are you joking?!" Hazel spluttered at her grandmother feeling her magic flutter over her skin, electrifying her slightly "Ive just had the two people who are supposed to love me more than anything in the world, admit not only did they lie to me about being a witch but also, in fact, the whole reason they sent me here was total bullshit as well!"
"I'm not disputing that" Melinda said calmly, but internally she was even angrier than her granddaughter "but you need to calm down before you do something you regret."
Hazel took some deep breaths looking at her grandmother who nodded encouragingly. Her stomach fluttered when she realised her grandmother wasn't scared of her like her parents were, just trying to actually help her. It took a few more minutes but Hazel's breathing slowly calmed down and her heart started beating steady rather than erratically.
"Okay. I'm good" she nodded at her grandmother who just nodded back to her. Hazel took a seat in her grandmothers seat with her grandmother standing behind her, placing her hand on her shoulder for support.
"Hazel" her mother started but was quickly cut off.
"No, I don't want to hear any more lies. Tell me the truth and only the truth. Trust me, I'll know" Hazel glowered at her mother. Of course she wouldn't know if her mother was actually telling the truth, but her mother wouldn't know that and probably would just believe it was a witch thing.
"We only found out recently" her father said butting in and taking over, causing Hazel to roll her eyes "that is the god honest truth sweetheart."
"How? How did you find out?"
"You know my friend Jonathan?" Her father asked her "Rachel's father who you used to go to gymnastics with? Well he works at the firm now and one day, he just collapsed in the office. Heart attack. I took some flowers to the hospital the next day but I wasn't allowed to visit because he was in intensive care, but when the nurse took the flowers and opened the door, I saw" her father coughed "I saw him."
