"Hey kid how was your first day?" Hazel's grandmother asked as she picked her up in the car park, "you manage to get through the day without killing anyone?"
"There's still time." Hazel said smiling sweetly at her grandmother causing the older woman to laugh and drive out of the parking lot. Hazel could not get the Hale boy out of her head, there was something about him that not only drew her in, but repelled her and she didn't quite understand. "Grams, do you know anything about the Cullens?"
Her grandmothers smile dropped and she glanced at her granddaughter, debating whether or not to tell her. Of course Melinda knew, she was the head of her council of witches. They were aware of all supernatural creatures living in the state of Washington. She also knew the Cullens were apparently harmless, but that didn't mean she wanted her granddaughter being desert in the all O Negative buffet.
"Why?" Her grandmother asked causally "you meet some of them?"
"Yeah, a couple we're in my classes. The other kids said they were weird" Hazel shrugged "I only had a conversation with one of them so I don't know."
"Which one?" Her grandmother wanted to know everything before she arranged a meeting to tell them to back off from the future coven leader.
"Erm Jasper, Jasper Hale," Melinda noticed the blush appearing on her granddaughters cheeks. This wasn't good "he seemed nice."
"Do me a favour will ya sweetheart? Make other friends. Normal friends. Now I can't call anyone weird but you need... normal friends."
"Why what do you mean?" Melinda sighed "Grams is there something you're not telling me about the Cullens?"
"Hazel, leave it." Melinda commanded in an authoritative which made Hazel jump. The grand daughter was confused, her grandmother had been completely open about everything so far so why was Hazel getting the feeling that her grandmother was hiding something. "Anyway, I'm taking you to meet a few people today." Her grandmother changed the subject.
"Really? Who?"
"It's time to meet the rest of the Coven" Melinda winked causing Hazel to gasp.
"No way! We have a coven?! This is so American Horror Story" Hazel's apprehension for her grandmother quickly fading as she realised who she was meeting. "What are they like? Are they cool? Do we all have special powers? Can we kick people's asses with our minds? Oh my god!" Hazel squealed as Melinda chuckled. Not that she would ever tell her grand daughter, but seeing her get involved in the practise her daughter shunned was breaking down the ice walls Melinda had put up.
