"So that takes away the niceness of their gesture?" Hazel finally broke contact with the blonde haired boy and stared at Jessica, bewildered by the girl for a second time "it doesn't make them any less of parents because they chose to foster." Hazel decided she and Jessica were not going to get on as she looked back at Jasper and saw him slightly smile, which revealed that he had dimples. A shudder went through Hazel's body as she could not stop staring at him.
"Yeah. Um whatever. Like I was saying" Jessica rolled her eyes at the new girl "this might not even be legal but Emmett and Rosalie are together. Like together together. Alice Edward and Jasper are the only single ones."
"But don't get your hopes up" Lauren interrupted causing Hazel to look at her, she had a deep scowl on her face "no one is good enough here for them. Especially Jasper."
"and how many times did he reject you for you to realise that?" Hazel asked casually finishing her salad. She was grateful for Mike for not leaving her alone but she had enough of this gossiping group. She didn't wait for a reply as she stood up, threw her tray in the trash and headed out to the library to try and get some peace.
I really need to get Grams to teach me some curses, or at least something that can help me dull the pain of listening to them all.
Across the cafeteria, the Cullen's watched, deeply intrigued by the new girl. Alice had seen her coming a few weeks back and informed her family that it was Jaspers mate. They have all been waiting for her to come.
"She's Melinda Thompson's grandchild" Edward informed the table, his eyes on Jasper who hadn't even turned away from his mate since he set eyes on her even as she was leaving.
"So she's a witch. I knew there was something different about her" Rosalie confirmed already liking the new girl for putting both Jessica and Lauren in their places.
"She discovered it when she came here, she has a lot of power but she doesn't know how to use it" Edward continued, informing the group of what he saw in her mind. He hesitated on whether or not he should tell them that she had killed someone with her power.
"She feels so much guilt" Jasper finally said, looking back to his family "it's all she's feeling. Why is that?" He turned and looked at Edward who grimaced "you know don't you."
"She killed someone" Edward informed and the table went silent "it was accidental, she didn't know she was a witch and she lost her temper."
"Who was it?" Rosalie asked. Edward shook his head.
"I've looked too much already."
"She'll tell Jasper" Alice chirped "not for a little while but she will!" Jasper nodded and left it at that.

Hazel's final lesson for the day was History and it was the one she was most looking forward too. She had always liked History, her dream used to be wanting to be a History teacher but now she wasn't so sure. She arrived and instantly felt the electricity flood across her skin, she looked and found Jasper Hale looking at her, a small smile across his face showing his dimples. Hazel immediately blushed and handed her slip to the teacher to sign.
"Miss Thompson if you could take the seat next to Mr Hale we shall begin shortly" Hazel nodded great full that the teacher didn't make her introduce herself. But her heart began to race as she headed to Jaspers desk.
Girl what is wrong with you get a grip! You're acting like Tom Holland just walked in naked and offered to lick chocolate of your chest. She sat next to Jasper and smiled at him softly, the beating in her chest not slowing in the slightest. Jasper inhaled and smelled his mates scent, shuddering slightly as it hit him. It was fresh, like pine trees and rain. It was comforting and it was his favourite.
"Hi there" he smiled at her allowing his southern accent to creep through "I'm Jasper Hale, it's a pleasure" he held out his hand. Hazel's face lit up when she realised he was from the South and placed her hand in his. His skin was ice cold, but she didn't want to let go.
"Hazel. Hazel Thompson." She nodded, feeling slightly sad she had to let go.
"As in, Melinda Thompson? The lady who owns the book store?"
"Yeah, she's my grandmother" Hazel said almost with pride.
"I didn't know she even had a child" Jasper admitted which was true. He had met the witch a few times and he wasn't sure on her. She held her own for sure, but she didn't seem to like him and his family.
"Yeah, um, kind of distant family let's say that." Hazel muttered, remembering her rules. She felt slightly stupid for her clear crush on Jasper Hale and she had barley spoken to him. She couldn't let this happen, not after... not after him. She wouldn't put anyone else at risk.
Jasper instantly felt the change in the girls emotions, the guilt becoming more prominent. He also sensed hostility and felt her closing off. He didn't say anything else to her, but sent over some happiness, which he noticed she smiled softly at him.
I really need to talk to Grams was Hazel's final thought before the lesson began.
