History: D-Day

So, I meant to post this a couple weeks ago, but I completely forgot.

One question I commonly get at work from my customers is what grade I'm in. They take a look at me and automatically assume that I'm still in high school. I don't judge because even I know that I look fifteen or sixteen, despite being twenty.

Anyway, I told a customer once that I am aiming to eventually get my PhD in the English Arts to either be a professor, writer, or both.

They then asked me: if you couldn't be an English Major, what else would you be?

I didn't hesitate to respond History Major.

That brings me to what this month until August signalizes since as of June 6th, it has been 75 years since D-Day, also known as the biggest turning point in World War II.

For some odd reason, World War II is my favorite part of history after A.D. and my favorite part of World War II is D-Day.

Here's the way it went:

In the early morning hours of June 6th, 1944 is when the invasion began as 156,000 troops from America, Britain, and Canada landed on a fifty-mile-long stretch of France's heavily guarded Normandy Region.

By the end of August, the Allies had successfully: reached the Seine River, Paris was liberated, and the Germans had been removed from Northwestern France. From there, The Allied forces then prepared to enter Germany, where they would meet up with Soviet troops moving in from the east.

The Invasion of Normandy was the biggest turn in the tide against the Nazis and soon enough, we had accepted their unconditional surrender and the war ended.

In general, behind English, I am a major History nut. I love the topic and besides English, it's my other best subject. It's also not limited to just history after A.D. since I'm also pretty good at Greek Mythology.

I always want people to know History because I'm a big believer in the phrase "if one forgets history, they are doomed to repeat it."

Also, saying the fact that I am pretty good with history, if anyone ever needs help either studying history or just learning it, I am here.
