"What's his name?" Billy asks interested.

"Arther Curry."

I then go to the Batarang. "The man who owns this is a billionaire. Batman or known as Bruce Wayne. The Superman is Klark Kent."

"Isn't Klark Kent some random reporter?" He asks.

"Klark Kent is his secret identity. I've done research and I know most knowledge those do not."

His eyebrows raise to this statement. "This Wonder Woman." I say picking up the headpiece. "She goes by Diana Prince."

I put it back in my bag and hide the trident back in the closet. "There are two more people in the justice league. I haven't been able to collect anything from them as I have for Diana or an Atlantian or how Freddy has with Bruce and Klark. Their names are Barry Allen or the Flash or Victor aka Cyborg."

"What's Victor's last name?"

"I'm not too sure. I think I know a bit more than what Freddy does because of my research and devotion to the Justice League. That's probably what he wanted me to show or tell you. I probably did a bit more than that though."

He lets out a soft little laugh and I smile.

"You're surprisingly interesting for a girl."

"Gee. Thanks."

That's when I hear him laugh, and see a sweet smile on his face. It's so bright and welcoming, his smile is sweet which makes me smile too.

The laughing catches Maya attention from the top bunk and she barks. Billy flinches and turns around. Maya jumps down and Billy is instantly alarmed.

"Hey, girl!"

She runs into my arms and sniffs my hand.

"Would you like to hold her?"

Billy nervously shakes his head. Maya turns to him, trying to sniff him.

"Maya might need to get to know you. Believe me. For a puppy like her, she's really smart, protective and caring. All she needs to do is sniff you and she can tell if you're good or bad."

"Okay, maybe that's fine."

He steps a bit closer to her and lends his hand out at her. She leans her head over and sniffs Billy. Her wet little nose touches the back of his hand. And in just a moment, she's squirming in my arms.

"Oh my! Oh, Oh okay then!"

Billy takes her in as she climbs into his arms and sits in the middle of his arms.

"She's never done that before." I reckon.

"Is that good or bad?"

"Well, she seems happy you're holding her. So I take it she trusts you."

Maya lets out a ruff of approval. Billy moves one hand up and pets her, which she starts making happy dog noises.

He chuckles slightly, blushing as he holds Maya.

"See? That wasn't so bad! Good news, if she trusts you enough to do that, she'll trust you enough to protect you."

"Does she bite?" He asks looking up.

"Okay, let me rephrase that. She'll act all cute and keep barking, howling, causing attention if she sees one of the people she trusts being attacked. It's actually happened before, and she manages to get the attention of bystanders which caused him to retreat. But otherwise, she'll bite at the ankles or tug your socks or pants until you're safe or if the attacker is gone."

"Did it happen to you?"

Um.

"N-no. It's just...something I learned she was uh, capable of doing."

He nods his head, but I have a sense that he isn't buying it. What's that look on his face? Concern?

He decides to put her down which she runs out of the room.

"Wanna help me set up your bed?"

"Sure. But uh...if you're staying the night, where will you be?" He asks.

"I'll be in a spare room. So you don't have to worry about anything."

"Oh. OK." He nods his head.

"Boom, boom, boom!" I sing.

"I want you in my room!" Freddy comes into the room which catches both of our attention.

We all stare at each other in awkward silence, Freddy seemingly embarrassed. Me and Billy exchange glances.

"What were you two even doing?"

"Nothing." Me and Billy say in sync.

Freddy raises an eyebrow. "Okay, whatever. Let's set up your bed."

★»«★

Billy and Freddy have been left off to their own conversation probably to get along a bit better. But Billy didn't seem too enthusiastic since Freddy started talking about the Roman pee again.

I hold my journal in my hands, lost in thought. I try to think straight but it's not working.

The whole wing thing keeps messing up my thoughts. It always makes me wonder the question: Am I a foster kid?

I'm probably not. But because all my friends are foster kids: Freddy, Mary, Pedro, Eugene, Darla and now Billy, I feel like the odd one out. Like I'm not supposed to be here. And I honestly wouldn't be surprised if there was something massive that involved all of them except me. I honestly would not be surprised.

But the wings, how my father treats us, my mother's low mental mood, this mistress, dad's gambling makes sense because do you know he barely loses? He always arrives home with so much cash and then the next day, it's like it's already gone. I don't understand. What if the next biggest twist, is that I'm some adoption? Or worse, stolen from my real family? Would it make sense about my wings? I have no memory of my life before the wings so would it really make more sense this way?

I lie on the bed, staring up at the ceiling as Maya is fast asleep on my lap. I can't sleep that well. And I don't want to move Maya. I continue to stare up at the ceiling when I hear a voice.

"Goodnight, Billy."

"Goodbye, Freddy."

Sounds like the boys are off to sleep...

I wave my hand around in the air slightly, before I start getting tired, my eyes slowly closing before shutting for the night.
