(A/N Okay so I'm finally going to force myself to continue the story lol. It had been so long that I actually had to scan over the last part before remembering where I left off and now I'm just getting giddy! I won't waste much time so let's get into this! <3 )

Rhy woke up calmly, without any blaring alarms to startle him up. Yawning, the man got out of his bed and checked the time on his phone, only to be surprised that he had only slept for around 2 hours. There was still plenty of day left and he actually felt more energized and ready to do his work. Rhys sat down on his couch with his laptop and started to work while his tea was boiling. When Rhys finished all of his work from yesterday and the work he was emailed today, it was sunset and Rhys decided to read a book for the rest of his time awake.

Vaughn texted him, asking if he was okay or if he needed another day. Rhys chuckled a little when he saw the text, it was lucky to have a friend like that. 'Yeah, I'm okay. I should've let myself sleep instead of forcing myself to stay up using coffee.' 'Of course You should have slept! Coffee can't magically make your brain work!' 'Sorry if I troubled you or Yvette' 'Nah, it's good. We didn't do much work since it was split between a bunch of employees. You should sleep now!' 'Yeah, sure. GN' 'Good Night! See you tomorrow.' Rhys turned his phone off and plugged his laptop in to charge. He went to his bed and immediately passed out once he hit the fluffy, soft covers.

Rhys woke up to the sun shining through his window in little rays. No sound screamed at his ears and that obviously made him terrified and awake. The tall man snatched his phone off his bedside table and thankfully saw that he had woken up at the normal time. He forgot to set his alarm, but his body was used to waking up at this time and it had become a habit. He got ready and did his morning routine, grabbing his laptop and papers and stuffing them into his bag before going out into the chilly Fall weather.

Walking to the cafe' for the third day in a row, he felt a mix of hesitation and happiness. He shrugged the feeling off and walked into the cafe' that might as well be part of his 'morning routine' now. He waited his turn in line but noticed a particularly angry customer yelling the poor cashier's ear off. He was about to say something when Jack put a hand on her shoulder and switched out with her... or something. He bowed his head slightly and spoke quietly to the man, probably trying to calm him down. Coincidentally, Rhys was at the back of the line and couldn't hear a thing Jack was saying, but at least the customer calmed down and sat at his table to wait for his order. The other customers went by quickly and ordered with efficiency, soon it was Rhys' turn.

"That was... something else..." Rhys barely mumbled, worried that the previously angry man would hear him, Jack shrugged, "It happens all the time, It's not bad if you know how to deal with them." 'Oh please, I literally work at sales' Rhys thought, "That's the biggest lie I've ever heard." Jack just smiled, "What's your order?" He said in a 'professional' voice. Rhys ordered and went to his now familiar table that's for some reason never occupied.

The cafe' quieted down quite a bit as the minutes passed by and more people were rushing to get to work, Rhys kept typing away at his laptop until that stupid 'nickname' came up. He sighed and went to Jack, who held a cheshire grin. "Are you going to stop calling me R-heece?" "Nope," he popped the 'p'. Rhys just hummed affirmative before going to another topic, "So, you found your new name yet?" Jack's smile faltered and he stared off to the distance, "You don't deserve to hear my awesome name!" He giggled, "You look a little better than yesterday, still look like a dead man walking though!" Jack tried to messily change the subject, but Rhys wasn't having any of it, "You still haven't come up with one yet?" Jack groaned, "Just, whatever. It was a joke anyways!" "No, I want to see what you can come up with. Maybe keep your name but... I don't know, add something to it? What's the most striking thing about you?" Rhys pondered aloud, Jack decided to interrupt, "My charming personality!" "Ha, no." "My hypnotic mannerisms." "What is that even supposed to mean?" Jack stifled a laugh and shrugged, "Okay, I'll make one someday! I'll figure it out." "Can I have my coffee now?" Jack pretended like he was thinking about it before nodding and going back to his work. Rhys, now feeling more energized with the interaction and his coffee, went to his own job as well.

Of course, he was saddled with plenty of paperwork, but thanks to his little 'sick day', he was actually on top of the entire thing; he even had time to hang out with Yvette and Vaughn for a little bit before lunch. They talked about plenty of things regarding their work or personal lives, and then Yvette decided to reveal something, "So, Rhys." Rhys turned to face her to show he was listening while they all continued to eat lunch, "Yesterday, you said you were sick but I went out to eat lunch and I saw you at that new cafe'." Rhys shrugged, it was okay if his friends knew that he kind of lied, "I couldn't focus on work, I was tired and I tried to use coffee to keep me alive but it clearly didn't work." Vaughn seemed fine with it, but Yvette kept talking, "Are you sure you didn't skip work to see a certain worker? Because I think I remember seeing an employee talk and joke with you at your table." Rhys rolled his eyes, "Did you not see my face? I was actually dead. That stupid employee told me to sleep instead of trying to use coffee to stay awake."

"Umm, I'm sorry Yvette can you explain what you saw?" Vaughn asked, Yvette nodded with a smirk, "Gladly, I can actually show you what I saw because I took pictures!" This made Rhys jump a bit, Yvette immediately noticed but of course Vaughn had no idea what was going on at all. 'Honestly, why was he scared about some stupid pictures? It wasn't like he was wrong in what he said.' Rhys didn't know, he just felt weird about the situation. Maybe it was because of how Yvette was interpreting it?

Rhys looked at the photos that Yvette called her 'evidence of an ulterior motive' and sighed out of exhaustion. Yeah, they were photos of him talking and smiling with Jack when he had brought the second coffee to him. "What I say is till true, my brain physically wouldn't work at all." Vaughn and Yvette looked at him still, waiting for something more he guessed. Rhys groaned, "ugh yes, I know that stupid employee like a little bit. I went to the cafe' day before yesterday and we started talking, I'll admit that he's sometimes funny but he's mostly annoying as all hell and he's honestly a hassle to talk to," Rhys rolled his eyes, "He really did come over to me to make some jokes about my 'horrible' appearance before telling me to just rest instead of forcing myself to work." He paused a moment, "Are you happy, I just told you what happened?" Rhys really felt weird talking about Jack, so weird that he may have just come off a bit cold, he realized that and quickly added, "I don't mean to sound snappy, I just find him annoying..." He looked down, Yvette and Vaughn looked at each other before Yvette quickly said, "Okay! I have to go work now, sorry for digging into your personal life Rhys." She laid a hand on Rhys shoulder quickly before literally dragging Vaughn down with her, Rhys thought it was weird but nothing too out of the usual for Yvette to do. At least she and Vaughn didn't seem mad at him.

He finished his lunch and then went back to his boring job. He actually got his work done in the span of the day.

(A/N Am I making Rhys someone who's as thick as steel? Apparently I am now! Also I'm sorry Yvette I made you just a little annoying in this chapter, I really like to twist all the canon personalities for the characters don't I? Welp, I'm tired and I still want to play Borderlands and stuff so Imma just end it here! Sorry for it being a little shorter, I'm tired and I started out pretty excited to write but now I'm just kind of over it, ya know? So yeah, I feel a little uninspired about this fic but I'm sure it'll come back the next time I write it lol. Okay, have a good day or night, hope you had fun reading this, and I wish you good luck on your NaNo if you're doing it. Goodbye random reader! <3 )
