Your fingers ran over the books' binding, feeling the different levels of leather. In one of these, there was a way to help Remus, a way to help him feel himself again. You knew there was no way to cure lycanthropy, but there had to be something to make him feel better. You eyed the books on the shelves, waiting for a title to catch your eye. You skimmed them, until one did: Magical Maladies for the Rejected. You flinched at the title. Still, werewolves were rejected so there might be a section here that could help Remus.

You pulled it off the shelves. It was heavier than you thought. It looked like it hadn't been opened in a while but when you saw the book's pages, there was not a single particle of dust. Curious, you flipped through the pages and a note fell out. You picked it up and read the conversation that had taken place on the parchment.

padfoot it wont work. ive looked through and depending on who we become it wont help moony.

prongs, just stop staring at evans for a moment to actually read this. werewolves wont hurt animals as much as humans. we cant be humans when this happens

i know but the process could go wrong and we might not even exist anymore to be there for him when he's human

to me, it's worth the shot. u in prongslette?

It was like you could feel the tension building off the parchment. You tried to imagine what "Prongs" and "Padfoot" were trying to do to help "Moony." Obviously, Moony must've been a werewolf. Why else would that be his name? So it could be Remus or another werewolf was running around the school - not that likely. Not many people would be there to help a werewolf and Remus did say the Marauders knew about him and helped him... and that's when you heard footsteps creeping up behind you with faint whispers attached.

"-if I had known Wormtail was going to bring the book back, I would've stopped him!" someone barked.
"Sirius, I already told you I was sorry," a voice whimpered. "Yea, well, sorry doesn't keep Moony's secret safe, does it?"

"Padfoot, calm down. It's not like anyone else would be trying to take a book to help werewolves or vampires, alright? Keep your panties on, it's going to be right where you found it," another said patiently.

Even as their voices became louder, you couldn't see anyone. On instinct, you flew yourself behind the bookcase, hidden behind the hundreds of paperbacks. You heard footsteps get closer until they were as close as they could be without walking through the bookcase. It was the strangest thing; you knew they were there, but you couldn't find a shadow. You held your breath. "Prongs, it's not here."

"What do you mean, it's not here?" Prongs said. "Evans told me this was where all the books on half-breeds and animals would be. And this is right where you said it would be." "Maybe it's on the other side?" the quieter voice suggested. Someone scoffed. "Like that would happen. If Madam Pince ever misplaces a book, then I'll marry Remus!"

"Pete's got a point, we should just check. Pads, take the cloak. It's not like anyone's in here anyway," Prongs retorted before his shadow came into view. You kept crouching, holding the book to your chest. "It's probably over- who are you?"

You were shocked silent until someone came up behind you and picked you up by your robes. "Hey!" you yelled. "Shit, I'm- I'm sorry," the person said before dropping you. "I wouldn't have done that if I had known it was you Y/N," Sirius apologized. "Well, Padfoot, take notes. I'm trying to help Remus, I found out about him," you explained. Sirius' eyes narrowed. "And I'm not planning on telling anyone!" you confirmed, "I just want him to feel better, that's all."

"Y/N, thank you," James said from behind you. You turned around to see the fear lurking in his eyes. "Remus doesn't deserve this and thank you for not saying anything. If anyone whose not as forgiving finds out, then Dumbledore might have to kick him out."

"Does Dumbledore know about it?" you asked. It seemed impossible to hide something of this extent from Dumbledore. "Yea," Peter said. "All the professors know, they help him with it too." You sighed. "That's why he was going to Professor Slughorn!"

"Well, maybe if ol' Sluggy isn't gonna help him, maybe you could?" James cut in. "Sluggy knows the potions but you know others that people wouldn't dream of knowing." "Wha-what do you mean?" you stuttered, face red. Sirius stepped in front of James. "Y/N it's no secret that you're excellent at potions. We've snuck into the Restricted Section the same time before and seen you take out the potions books. I looked into it; those potions are really advanced and not the safest. Whatever you do with them is for you to know and for you to know only. We haven't asked but we need your help with Remus. If you don't keep his secret safe, we can go to Dumbledore and -"

"Pads," James said, putting a hand on his shoulder. Sirius relaxed and took a deep breath. "Will you help us?" he asked, "please?" You were shocked. When was the last time you heard Sirius be calm about something?

"Of course," you said. "Remus is a great friend! He's always there for you guys, I can be there for him if you can." You handed the note over to Sirius. "This is yours." He held it tight with his hand. "Thanks." "Remus mentioned something about chocolate helping? Is that true?" you asked. "Oh yea," Peter said. "A few things help him but chocolate is one that always does but it's too expensive to get every month." You smirked. "I think I can whip something up," you said, and confessed your idea to the boys.

(AN: sorry I haven't posted in a while. I haven't exactly had a break since July and now that it's the holiday break I can't wait to write! Expect lots of updates :) )
