Falling in Love with a Irken (Invader Zim X Reader)

AN: Here is a cute shorter chapter! I hope you enjoy~ Ps. Next chapter may take a tiny bit because I plan for it to be a bit long! I may break it up into two parts, I'm not sure yet :)

You couldn't believe your sights in front of you.

Here you were sitting at the dinner table with an Irken that wasn't Zim. How do you know it isn't Zim? If it was Zim, he would have been flailing his arms around like a maniac explaining loudly how superior and perfect he is while making you laugh and smile at his outrageous personality. This guy? Capital B Booooring.

Don't get me wrong. He is nice, and maybe the first date is making him nervous, but he is just so boring. We have hardly talked at all and what he does ask? Just boring things like: How do you like the Massive? What is your favourite Colour? Isn't our Tallest Amazing?

"Do you like your food?" Larb speaks up. This snaps you out of your thoughts. You look down and inspect your food. It was defiantly different. It was a sweet tasting Pasta-like dish with a foreign meat. It did taste quite good though.

"Yes I do, Thank you for asking. How is yours?" You try to keep it professional and nice. Man, if this guy would do anything fun..

"Yes it is good. I order this meal quite often..." Of course he does...you look up to his face and notice he is blushing. If you had to guess, he has never been on a date of any capacity. As Zim mentioned, partners and love is super rare for any Irken, and he was no exception. "I heard you are only half Irken, is this your first time travelling outside your home world?"

"By myself yes.." You trail off remembering about how you and Zim went into space together. You then light up at something Zim said! "I bet you must have a lot of stories travelling as an Invader... Tell me about it!" You pray to any god that he could hold a conversation and save this sinking ship. Zim always said he had crazy stories from him being an Invader since it required a lot of space travel.

He looks at you for a moment, then decides to start speaking. He tells you stories of how he conquered many of the planets he was assigned to. You slowly see him open up and reveal a more laid back Irken. This made you smile.

As the conversation and evening progressed, he actually became a bit funny and showed more and more personality. He defiantly became a lot more relaxed when he was able to talk to you about something he genuinely enjoyed and remembered. You offer cute smiles here and there and some laughs.

"Yea and that's how I declared myself the Space Burrito Emperor!" He smiles wide at his accomplishment. You are just laughing at the ridiculous story.

"Hahah, you should ditch the Invader status and just get everyone to call you Space Burrito Emperor!" You take a bite of your food while still laughing lightly. He just laughs along with you.

"Y/N, you mentioned you had your first class with the Inquisitorian today. What are you being taught?" He tries to dig a bit into your life now.

"Yes, He was really nice. I am starting to learn how to read Irken. That will help lots since I am so lost here! I can't read a thing!" You look around and see that not a single word is in a dialect you knew.

"You know, I am on the Massive until further notice, if you never need help with anything I can be of your assistance! All Invaders must pass numerous tests to become an official Invader!" He take a sip of his drink.

"How do you become a Irken Invader Larb?" You are curious on how jobs are decided in Irken society.

"All Irkens are born on Irk. There are underground schools where all Smeets must attend for 10 years..." 10 years? Thats close to 100 earth years! Wow! " Once schooling is done and you are deemed an Adult Irken, you are free to pursue what you desire. I wanted to be an Invader so I had to become an Irken Elite. We all must start out as a Soldiers, then pass a series of tests on the Planet Devastis. The control brain picks who passes and who fails." You listen attentively. Zim went though all of those tests too? I wonder if being an Irken Invader was always a dream of his.
