|5| The Start Of A Friendship

Start from the beginning

You waved at him in the distance and entered the neighbourhood. You breathed in deeply, the chilly wind ruffling your hair. You listened carefully, not a sound to be heard. You walked slowly, you didn't want to go back home. You suddenly saw someone in the distance, someone you knew. It was Karma. He was in front of the young couple's house who moved not too long ago, looking it up and down. You frowned slightly.

"If you came here looking to get revenge on Asano, let me tell you you're in the wrong house," you said as you approached him.

"Of course I'm not here for that," he said.

'Liar,' you thought.

"Sure," you teased, arching your eyebrows.

"But if I were," he smirked, "which house is it?"

"Not telling you," you crossed your arms.

"Fine," he replied kicking a pebble, "I'll just find out right now."

"Karma," you called, "I'm not stupid. I know you're waiting for me to get inside so that you can see which one's Asano's house."

"I guess you got me," he shrugged nonchalantly. "But, unfortunately for you, you'll have to get inside~" he said in a singsong voice. "It's just a matter of time."

"I can be here all day," you lied.

"Really~?" He teased, "then let's see you try."

He walked over to the bench beside him and laid down, making himself comfortable.

"I can be here all day," he mocked you.

You stayed in your place, your arms crossed in front of your chest, not believing what he was just doing.

"Don't just stay there," he lifted his head to look at you, "if you plan on staying, you'll have to make yourself comfortable." He sat up and scooted over for you to take a seat beside him.

You sighed and sat down in between clenched teeth.

"Why are you even coming home so late?" He asked looking at his watch.

"Shooting took longer than expected," you said dryly, not enjoying being out here. You were beginning to get cold and you didn't know when your mother would call for you.

"Damn looks like this movie's only causing you problems," he said rather bluntly. "Sucks to be you I guess."

"Tell me about it."

Your eyes widened as you slapped your forehead internally. You couldn't believe it had slipped your lips.

"Huh? I thought you liked it," he tilted his head.

"Don't you have to get home?" You asked changing the topic.

Just why were you always making mistakes whenever you talked to Karma?

"No one's waiting for me, so, why bother?" He shrugged.

"I'm sorry," you said, "I didn't mean to intrude."

"It's no big deal, my parents are too busy travelling and living life to even care," he shrugged his shoulders.

It was ironic how opposites your mother was to his parents. Whilst his parents were at the other side of the world, yours was always on top of you, controlling your every move, telling you how to act, how important appearances were. But you believed she had good reasons. Didn't she?

"But they will come for Christmas, right?"

"They don't bother with that," he said unfazed by the situation.
