|13| I Just Need... Air

A sudden idea popped inside your head. You had already done it one time, it didn't really matter another time, didn't it? And your mother hadn't even took notice of your absence last time.

You: Hey Karma, do you want to meet up?

You: I have to tell you something important

Karma: Sure, when?

You: Now

Karma: Ohhh is Miss Goody Two Shoes gonna rebel for a change?

You: So you don't want to meet up?

Karma: I didn't say that

Karma: You sure are anxious to see me, huh?

Karma: Don't blame yourself, it's not your fault I'm so incredibly attractive

You rolled your eyes at his message. He sure was something.

You: Whatever makes you sleep at night...

Karma: No need to get so defensive :P

Karma: See you in 5 minutes at your place

You bit your lip upon reading the message. You couldn't risk it. If your mother saw you...

You: Can't it be at the intersection where we part ways?

Karma: K

You opened your window and climbed down the tree like last time. Once you were on the ground, you made your way towards your meeting point being careful not to be seen. You were the first one to arrive so you waited patiently. You hadn't realized how late it was. There was no one on the streets but you felt safe. The neighbourhoods in this area were always safe, private and closed off. It was even rumoured that famous people lived around here.

"Missed me?"

You jumped slightly at the sudden voice and turned around.

"So, what's that important thing you had to tell me? Or was that just an excuse to see me?" He smile coyly.

"Sure," you laughed. "Look," you began, your voice losing its playfulness, "I really consider you my friends; Nakamura, Sugino, Nagisa, Kayano... all of you. But, I want you to know the reason why I followed behind Asano so easily. It isn't because I prefer him over you, but it's because..."

"Because...?"

"You know that time we went to the cinema together?"

"Yeah." He nodded his head. "Don't tell me. Those girls told Asano."

"Uh, yes. That's exactly what it was," you blinked a few times in shock.

 Was it that easy to figure out? Then why had you made such a big deal about it? So why had you had that sudden urge to tell him in person? Why not via text message? Was it because... you wanted to see him?

"So... Since it has already been said... I guess... I'll go then," you turned around awkwardly as you facepalmed internally.

You really weren't looking forward to going back home. It's the last thing you wanted.

"Karma..." you suddenly turned around. The red haired boy was right where you had left him, his eyes lost in thought but he seemed to wake up from his trance as soon as he heard his name being called. "Uh... Do you have to go home?" You asked unsurely.

"I can stay up whenever I want," he shrugged his shoulders. "You already know my parents aren't home."

"Oh right..." you bit your lip. "Do you mind... keeping me company?"
