JOE'S P.O.V.:

After being in Sophie's memorial all night and giving a short speech about her life, I flew back to the USA, sleeping during the flight.

There was things in my head all the time. I missed Sophie like crazy, I was afraid of being a bad dad to Rosie but I also knew I needed to do my best and moved on from Sophie's death to keep my daughter happy. No one ever tells you how difficult things can become from night to day, I had no idea I would be alone with a baby.

"Joe, clasp your seatbelt." My mom said from the other side of the hall. I clasped it and cleared my throat.

"You told me Rosie's with Demi, right?" My mom nodded and I sighed glancing at my wedding ring. "I'll pick her up from there."

"Are you sure you don't want us to pick her up?" She asked and I shook my head.

"Well, I guess...I gotta talk with Demi." I wasn't lying in the slightest. I felt like a bitch after I yelled at her for something way too stupid.

Once the airplane arrived to the city, we walked to different cars and I drove to Demi's house quietly. Something weird for me was not listening to music, but ever since Sophie died, I didn't find myself capable of listening to music, or singing, or anything related to it.

It started to worry me because of course, I would have to leave the band if I wasn't able to sing anymore...and I feared my brothers hating me for it. I hated to let people down, and deep down, I felt I was going to let everyone down.

I glanced at Demi's front door and walked out of the car slowly. There was nobody around. I sighed before ringing the doorbell twice. I started to think she wouldn't want to see me, when she opened the door slightly and I saw a very tired and destroyed face in front of me.

Like, of course I looked destroyed too, but I had a reason. Well, she does too, she stayed with a baby all night.

"Joe umm...come in." I walked into her house and she closed the door slowly before glancing at me.

"Rosie's sleeping, you can come with me and pick her up if you want to." She turned around and started walking upstairs. I noticed a plate with pasta on the coffee table and realized she probably really worked hard last night. That's when I felt terrible again.

"Uh, Demi, wait." She turned around with her eyebrows slightly raised and I sighed. "Can we talk some minutes?"

"Joe look, it's okay. We really don't have to do this. I took care of Rosie because you needed someone, you don't have to worry about anything else." She said walking my way. I frowned at her words. "I don't wanna steal moments she would've spent with her mom, I promise. I would never try to replace Sophie. And I'm sorry if I was a bad person when I fed her the other night, I was just trying to help-"

I closed the gap between us and hugged her tightly close to my body. I felt horrible after yelling at her. She did nothing wrong.

"You did nothing wrong. I overreacted because I was having mixed feelings regarding Sophie and our baby. You didn't deserve me to treat you that badly. I'm so sorry. You've been helping me ever since everything happened and I was a horrible man...I'm sorry Demi, I really am. I don't even deserve you helping me after I left you alone in the past." She pulled apart from the hug and caressed my cheek with one hand.

"It's okay. I understand you. You're going through hell right now and you're allowed to feel everything. I'm with you, I'll continue helping if you need me and take a step back if you want me to. I just want you to know that I only want to help you, I don't care about the past, I don't care about anyone's opinion. Yours and Rosie's happiness is all I care about. I'll do whatever you want me to do...just let me know." I grabbed her hand slowly from my face and caressed it.

"I'm gonna have to ask you to give me some space and time. I wanna get to know my baby and connect with her..." Demi smiled slightly.

"You want me to take a step back, then?" I sighed and titled my head.

"It won't be forever, I just need a break from you." I realized by the look on her face, that my words hit her hard. I hurt her by saying I needed a break from her. "Hey, wait, I-"

"Don't worry Joe, it's okay. I get it." She said before walking upstairs quietly.

I followed her upstairs and saw my baby sleeping in Demi's bed, surrounded by pillows. She looked calm. Once Demi opened the blinds, she started stretching in bed and opened her blue eyes to look at me when I sat beside her.

"Hey baby, good morning. Daddy is back. I hope you're happy to see me." I kissed her cheek and picked her up slowly as she babbled.

As I hugged her close to me, I noticed Demi packing Rosie's bag before she handed me a pink small blanket.

"Wrap her up. You don't want her to catch a cold." I nodded and wrapped my baby's body with the blanket.

"Uh, do you have a car seat for her?" I nodded.

"In my other car, I have one." She chuckled softly and we walked downstairs where she pointed to a car seat.

"I bought it yesterday for her. You can keep it." I frowned.

"How much do I have to pay for it?" She shrugged.

"It's a gift for her, since I've never bought something for your baby." I smiled slightly.

"Thank you." She nodded and helped me fit Rosie in her car seat before heading to my car. "Thank you for taking care of her...I'm sorry if I caused any problems to you. You're a very kind person and-" She put her hand up.

"It wasn't a big deal, I'm not that much of a kind person so don't say it that. Well I guess...I wish you the best with her." I sighed feeling sad again.

"Demi..." I started but she cut me by kissing my cheek.

"You gotta go already." I sighed and nodded.

"Umm bye."

"Bye." She said to me and looked to the floor.

I saw her all the avenue through the mirror. I hurt her with my words and I hated to hurt her. It was like I could never be good to her.
