DEMI'S P.O.V.:
I laughed out loud as Joe told me a story about him and his brothers while on tour. "No way." I said laughing and he chuckled.
"I swear it Demi. All that happened in the same day." I shook my head drinking water.
"You're more like the jinxed brothers." He nodded with a smile. "You know, sometimes I remember our times touring back when we were teens and I just have to laugh and how many stupid things we were constantly doing."
"It was fun...I have only happy memories with you. Isn't that crazy?" I raised my eyebrows.
"It definitely is cause I have like...a ton shit of happy memories with you but I also have some that I better forget someday because they're really sad." He frowned.
"Like our break up." We said in unison and chuckled.
"Yea, it took me a while to recover from that but I'm glad we're friends again." He nodded.
"It took you a 'Really Don't Care' to forgive me for breaking your heart." I laughed again and shrugged.
"And a 'Stone Cold'..." He smiled slightly.
"I'm still surprised you wrote that motherfucking masterpiece about me. I feel even proud to inspire you in that way." I giggled.
"The heartache was worthy." He shook his head.
"It wasn't...but I love the song. It's one of my favorites." I raised my eyebrows.
"Yea, as it should be. I'd be mad at you if it wasn't one of your favorites." He laughed and nodded.
"You have a point." We became silent and a whimper from the couch, made us glance at Rosie. She was awake. "Oh, little lady woke up." He said before standing up to pick her up in his arms.
I smiled watching him kiss her forehead and he looked at me.
"I gotta feed her." I stood up and nodded.
"Do it, I'll wash the dishes meanwhile."
"You don't have to." I shrugged with a smile.
"I wanna do it. We'll have some more time to talk then." I assured him and he smiled at me.
"Okay, thank you."
As Joe started to feed Rosie, I washed the dishes and dried them. I was surpriesed Joe was doing that well with the house, the baby and even working on some music every once in a while when he felt like doing it and had time to do it. I felt a strange feeling of pride thinking about how strong he was being and thought tha if I were him, I'd probably couldn't do half of what he's doing.
Once I finished cleaning everything and went to the living room hoping to find them there. But they weren't there anymore. I guessed they were on her room and walked there silently. I got to her room and stood on the door, resting my body on the frame. I couldn't contain a smile from growing on my face as I watched them. Joe was bouncing her slowly in front of the window as the moonlight was the only light in the room.
"Blackbird singing in the dead of night, take these sunken eyes and learn to see...All your life, you were only waiting for this moment to be free." He sang softly to her and kissed her forehead before laying her tiny body on her cradle. I bit my lip and walked to him as he sat in front of her cradle to admire her.
"Do you think she's gonna be a Beattle's girl?" I asked him in a whisper and he glanced up at me.
"I guess you heard me." I nodded. "Well, she likes that one to sleep...but she also likes 'You were always on my mind' by Elvis. I guess, she'll have the last word." We chuckled and he looked around us.
"Wanna go to my room so we can talk about anything?"
"Uh, sure. Whatever you want to do is okay." He stood up from his chair and moved the baby's monitor closer to Rosie before walking out of her room.
We walked to his room and sat together on his bed. We didn't even bother on turning the lights on. We just wanted to be there, share the same air and I knew he felt the same way I did. I smiled glancing at a photo of him and Sophie of his wedding.
"I miss her." He whispered looking on the same direction I was. I gulped and nodded.
"It's understandable. She was a sweetheart." I smiled as a memory popped into my head. "I remember when I first met her. She was the kindest."
"She always liked you...She used to tell me monthly that I should make up with you. She was right about that." I chuckled softly.
"The other day I found a pic of us three from the day I met her. We were in your dressing room after your show." I started describing the picture while I searched for it in my phone. "Here it is." I showed him the pic and he smiled.
"I remember it now. You were sitting together and I was standing beside you." I giggled.
"You told us a joke and we both bursted our laughing." He chuckled with a nod. "Nick took the picture with my phone. I think it's beautiful."
"Can you send it to me? I'd like to have it too."
"Sure." I grabbed my phone again and sent it to him. "She'd be proud of you. You're doing a lot for your baby Joe...that's priceless." He smiled slightly at me and I could see his eyes teary as the moonlight made them shine in the dark. "You're doing amazing. And I'm sure you'll always be the best dad Rosie could ask for."
"I don't know if I could do this without everyone's help...but mostly, without you here." He whispered before grabbing my hand on the bed. I looed down at our linked fingers and then back at him.
"I'll always be here for you. I promised it once and I'll keep my promise forever." I whsipered to him and he nodded before hugging me tightly. I could feel his sadness. I caressed his back softly and he buried his face on the crack of my neck.
"Thank you." He said on my skin and I chowed down on my lip before he pulled apart and I glanced at the mattress.
"I-I probably should go home." I was standing up when he grabbed my hand.
"You can stay tonight...It's late for you to drive alone." I oepned my mouth to reject his invitation but I couldn't do it after he talked again. "I don't want anything bad to happen to you too..."
I gulped hard and nodded at him. "Okay. I'll stay tonight."
"You can sleep here...I'll sleep in Rosie's room."
"Joe, but there's not a bed there." He shrugged. "Hey, I don't want your back to hurt tomorrow." He smiled slightly and kissed my cheek.
"I'll be fine, don't worry. If you need me, I'll be next door."
"Joe..." I started.
"Demi, I promise I'll be fine." I sighed. He wasn't giving in anytime soon.
"Alright. Goodnight."
"Goodnight." He told me before leaving the room.
