"And you think I believed that?" He mused.
"Well, you seemed pretty convinced," you flashed him a lopsided smile.
"Duh, the others were there," he placed his hands at the back of his head. "But I'm sure there must be something else," he frowned. "Is it the movie? Your mother?"
You chewed on the inside of your cheek as you thought about it. It was still very new to you having someone to talk about these things.
"It's my brother," you finally sighed. "We had a big fight last night."
"Huh? What did he do?" He asked, genuinely interested.
"He didn't do anything as per se," you bit your bottom lip. "We just said very nasty things to each other," you sighed, the argument playing inside your head. "And it got out of hand... I blamed him for things out of his control... and I really regret it..."
"You? Miss Goody Two Shoes? You said... bad things?" He frowned his brow in disbelief.
"Yeah..." you sulked, looking down at the ground in guilt.
You proceeded to explain to him rather briefly your conversation with your brother until you finally arrived at the main campus. You were glad only a few people were there but you knew that sooner or later, students would begin to flood in. You sighed yet again. At least you had the chance to say goodbye to the end class since they had agreed to come in early to spend some time with you.
"I guess we're here," you breathed in, preparing yourself for what was to come. "I'd better hurry up and leave my things at my desk," you began walking.
"Where do you think you're going?" Karma mused as he grabbed your hand and brought you back towards him.
"I want to get in before the others. I don't want them to see me," you pursed your lips.
"I meant what were you doing going there by yourself," he smirked.
"Don't you hate going inside the main campus?" You blinked a few times.
"Eh... I can make an exception, can't I?" He teased as he leaned in, his face mere millimeters away from yours as he watched in enjoyment how the heat rose up to your cheeks and ears.
Walking inside the building, you tried to keep your distance from him in case someone saw you. You didn't want people thinking you were intimate friends in case your mother somehow found out.
It didn't take long before you were standing in front of the classroom door. Gulping, you slid the door open as memories of the beginning of the year flooded your mind.
"Will you... go to the assembly?" You hesitantly turned around to face Karma.
"Dunno. I don't wanna see the main campus' faces." He said rather bluntly.
"Oh." You whispered rather dejectedly, your eyes going to your shoes.
"But-" he smirked – "if you ask nicely, I guess I wouldn't mind making the effort."
"Really?" You sweatdropped, his smirk never leaving his face. You huffed, "please Karma will you do me the honor of attending the assembly?"
"Sure, but I was just kidding," he playfully stuck his tongue out. "I was already planning on going just to see you." He said matter of factly, his statement and the way he so casually said it, taking you aback.
"Aww, is the great Akabane Karma actually a softie?" You teased.
"Keep dreaming princess." He reffuled your hair.
As if on cue, the bell rang. You could hear the student's footsteps and yelling which had your stomach churning.
You bit your bottom lip as you stared down at the floor. Shifting your attention back at the red headed boy, you stared at him in silence for a few seconds, your eyes travelling down to his lips. Wait! What were you even thinking?! Now was not the time to think about those things. Especially at school.
