Once they've turned from green to brown
they're then ready to fall down,
causing those in town to frown
and be called an nasty noun.
Some of them a shade of gold,
creating a blanket from the coming cold.
The roots and seedlings they enfold
until the time they mulch to mould.
Other's being a fiery red.
A shrub so bright before they shed,
one last blast before they bed.
These are the ones that turn my head.
They can be a cause to stop the trains.
They may also block the drains.
They become a lot of people's pains;
to keep on top being their main gains.
Although the fact, that just remains,
is they look so pretty down country lanes.
