The Maze Runner Fanfic [Newt x Reader]

After 2 weeks of training, you want to take the test, so you tell Alby about it.

"Are you sure? It's been like 16 days."

"I made a lot of progress. If I don't pass the test now, I will train another 2 weeks, but let me try, please."

"Ok, fine. Let me call the Keepers, you should warm up a bit."

You and the Keepers meet at a corner. The first task is running, of course. Minho waits for you at the end.

"Are you ready, (y/n)?" you hear Alby say. "Steady... set..." your heart is beating fast. "GO!"

You run as fast as you can. Your leg still hurts a bit, but you don't care. This is your chance to become a Runner. When you arrive at Minho, he catches you and lifts a white flag so Alby knows you're done. You and Minho run back to them.

"How did I do?" you say with shortness of breath. Running has exhausted you.

Alby looks at you like you're an alien. "We have a new record... 22.5 seconds." he grabs your hand and lifts it. "WE HAVE A NEW RECORD!"

Everyone is cheering and clapping. You can't hide the pride on your face. While still breathing hard, you smile at everyone. A beautiful, honest smile. 

"Alright, (y/n), you have 10 minutes and then you have to climb a wall." you think that was Alby. You didn't look at him, but you nodded so he knows you heard him.

"Great job!"

"Yea, you were bloody awesome!"

Thomas and Newt come to you. You run towards them and hug them tight. Minho comes too.

"Easy there. You don't want to kill these shanks."

After the 10 free minutes passed, you started to prepare for climbing. Minho gave you the smallest boots he found. Newt helps you put bandages and chalk on your hands. He hugs you.

"Be careful." he whispers in your ear.

"Finally, you're done. You know what to do." Alby accompanied you to the wall. "3... 2... 1... GO!"

You start climbing. It's way easier on the daylight. Also, the boots are pretty helpful. 5 minutes have passed. You are almost at the top. Suddenly, a beetle blade comes to you. I'm gonna die one day because of these. You continue climbing. The bug follows you. It creeps you out. You reach the top and you stand up. Without taking a break, you go down the wall. You let yourself fall for the last 2 feet.

"What are you?" 

Alby's words shock you. You clearly didn't expect that.

"I guess you can have this record too." then he turns to the boys. "6 MINUTES AND 24 SECONDS!"

You are shocked.

"Alby, are you sure she still has to fight with me? I don't want to be known as the first boy in the Glade whose ass was kicked by a girl."

"You put that rule, Minho. Take responsibility for it."

You and Minho are staying in an improvised wrestling ring. Alby is between you two.

"There is only one rule: no mutilation. When one of you says 'I quit', the match ends. On the count to 3, you fight. 1... 2... 3!" and then he gets out.

Minho runs to you, but you smash him on the floor. He grabs you with his legs and you switch places. Now he's on top. Somehow, you manage to get up and you kick him with your knee in the stomach. You keep fighting for 8 minutes. Both of you have broken noses and bruises all over your bodies. He puts you on the floor and places his leg on your neck. You move and kick his leg, so he falls. Then you get on top of him and twist his hand. He starts to scream.
