The Maze Runner Fanfic [Newt x Reader]

Two weeks after the incident, you go to the Map room to see if Teresa and Thomas discovered anything.

"Do you know what we have to do?"

"Partially. So the maze is a code, right? And what is a code made out of? Numbers or letters. These maps should mean something, but we haven't found out yet." Teresa looks very tired.

"Did you get any sleep last night?"

"I don't know the last night I slept. If I did this, if this is my fault, I want to get you out of here."

"Go get some sleep. Me and Thomas will try to solve this." you wait for Teresa to leave. "So, what did you try?"

"We put them together. It didn't work. We tried to stack them, but after 3 papers, you can't see anything."

"Then let's get thinner paper. Frypan has baking paper. It's see-through."

You get the paper and cut it in pieces. You copy every map there and you see a letter.

"Hey, I got something. Let's tell the others, we need more help."

All the Runners, Alby and Newt come to help you.

"This is from section 8. It says E."

"I did my section and I got R."

When you find all the letters, you put them together. T, A, R, E, Y, R, B, E.

"It doesn't make any sense. Maybe we have to put them in another order." 

"Let's put them on the Glade map, where the sections are from." Thomas really surprised you here. You didn't think at that.

"It says BETRAYER. Does anyone know what does that mean?" Alby was looking at you and Thomas, hoping he'll get the answer from you.

"Who cares what it means? This is our way out!"

"Yea, but you forgot one thing, Minho. Where do we type this code?"

"Tomorrow we go into the maze and try everything we don't usually try. We won't just run."

The next day you run with Minho, but you're more careful to the details. You get to the Cliff.

"What if this is the exit?"

"Not possible. Look." Minho says as he throws a rock in the void. It suddenly disappears. "Wait, that didn't happen before."

You start throwing more rocks. Some of them fade until they become too small for you to see, but some just teleport.

"That's our exit, Minho. We have to get down there."

"We don't know if that's the exit. What if Grievers will be there. I know you survived one, but don't brag about it. There can be dozens Grievers. The Creators saw us discovering this hole and they'll send Grievers here."

"Then what do we do? We can't stay here if we have an opportunity to get out. If more boys will come here, they will be able to fight with them."

"Do you want to bring all the gladers here? You are going to bring them to their death, (y/n)!" Minho's tone was raising. He was really mad at you. "Do you have the slightest idea how many people died here? And don't think I'll let you go down there."

"I don't need your permission. You have been here for 2 years. In those years, you just ran around here hoping a magic door will open? It's not a normal exit, we have to go down there and type that code. If you don't want to tell them we have a chance to get out, I will."
