The Maze Runner Fanfic [Newt x Reader]

You're out, but what will you do now? This is a dangerous place. You get to an abandoned house and Frypan stops the car. 

"Where do we go now, (y/n)?"

"Why are you asking me? I'm not your leader."

"You took us out of the maze and the lab. You kinda are." Minho says.

"I wouldn't have the courage to go down the Griever hole without your support and the lab escape wasn't my idea. Moreover, I don't know what to do, I don't know where to go. I'm sorry, maybe we ran too early."

"We will clear up about where to go. If we stood there a couple more days, they would've killed you." 

"But at least you were alive. Now we're all gonna die."

"I'd rather die with you than knowing I could've done something and I didn't." Thomas' words made you smile. The gladers really care about you and you'd do anything to protect them.

"This is too sweet, I think I'll throw up." Minho's sarcasm never fails to make your day better, even if it's about you. "We have bigger issues right now. Maybe we will find something useful in here."

You go into the house. It looks like it's been abandoned recently. You look for food, clothes and weapons. Even if it's over 100° F outside, you need warm clothes to protect you from the sun and sand. Minho is changing and you see something on the back of his neck.

"Hey, what's that?" you go to Minho to see better. "Property of W.i.C.K.E.D., subject A7, the Leader. What is this?"

Everyone comes to see. 

"They bloody tattooed us? When? We didn't sleep since we arrived."

"I think everyone has one." says Teresa while looking at Thomas. "Subject A2, the Betrayer."

"It says the same for you, Teresa. Except that it's A1." says Minho.

"What do I have?" Newt asks.

"Subject A5, the Glue. What about me?"

"Subject 0, the Black Sheep."

"Told you they hated me. I can't even have a nice name."

"And mine is nice? I'm supposed to betray you guys or what?" Thomas seemed really confused.

"Let's calm down, it's clear that they hate all of us equally, maybe (y/n) a bit more, but the point is that they don't like either of us." Frypan tries to calm everyone down.

"Easy for you to say, you don't have a nickname."

"My name is Siggy. I think that's enough punishment."

You hear a horrifying scream. Cranks. Everyone picks up a weapon. Great, a butter knife and a baseball bat will help me a lot. Then you remember about the gun. You run to the car and bring them both. You give one to Thomas and one to Minho. They start shooting cranks. One of them jumps on Newt. Without thinking twice, you kick the Crank off him. He tries to eat you instead. Thomas shoots him right after he bit you. The bite got deep inside your hand. 

"Why did you do that? You could've died!"

"Oh, shut up. I know you would've done the same thing for me. Now help me tie this around my arm." the black blood is flowing fast. "We have to sleep in the car tonight, it's not safe here."

That night you sleep crowded in the small jeep you stole. You rest your head on Newt's lap. You might not have a lot of space to sleep, but you think it's the comfiest place you ever slept in. You are very tired, so you fall asleep fast, with Newt's hands playing in your hair. You feel protected when you are with him.
