Please be advised: That most of the images that are attached this book are not mine. They are images that are as close as I can find to the images I see in my head when I describe a scene. I am only using them for now in order to assist my readers with a visual aid. It is my hope to either create or find someone to create a true visual of what I am trying to describe.
However, the cover of this book was a picture taken by me. I was with my sister. We had gone kayaking on the lake near where we live. I just had to take the picture. I hope that you like it.
The above picture is as close as I could get to what Jay & Jerry's father looks like.
Kat: Oh, now that won't be necessary...
Madam Minerva: Miss Kat?
Kat: Minerva... Dear... it's just Kat and my family would be more than happy to help.
Madam Minerva was so pleasantly surprised by the offer that she did not even correct me on her name. I wasn't surprised when he informed us that my family had already begun to help.
Their Father: You know your family well...
Kat: I should hope so.
I stood confidently beside Madam Minerva as I spoke. I must say he took it in stride. He simply arched his brow and continued.
Their father: They began cleaning as soon as you left the room. They have already finished and are currently standing behind me.
He seemed slightly amused by the last part. In that moment several members of my family decided to reveal themselves by peaking around the opening. It was a comical sight to see. So many floating heads so close to each other. After a moment my sisters Jan and Pam squealed and rushed into the room with the rest of my brothers and sisters right behind them. They were heading excitedly straight for Willow. I swiftly stepped between them and shouted for them to stop. They froze in place. Clearly surprised by my sudden outburst.
Kat: Willow is not your dog she has chosen Madam Minerva and you will respect her choice.
My siblings (NO not in unison/that would just be creepy) nodded. They all stepped away from Willow. I rolled my eyes when I noticed them all pouting like children. Willow sat regally next to Minerva and wagged her tail happily.
Kat: Of course, you are enjoying this... Oh stop pouting. I swear you are acting like I've taken away your favorite toy. She is NOT yours; but I am sure you will be allowed to visit and play with your new friend.
I threw my hands in the air in exasperation and began to walk away from them. How can so much potential be so incredibly soft. All that I can think is that we are in trouble if anyone decides to play the villain around these clueless fools. Don't get me wrong... They are my family and I love them; but they are clueless. Which is unfortunate because they don't need to be. It would be better if they knew what was coming. It would be so much easier if I had their help, and they knew how to help. I turn back around in time to see the boy's father speak.
Their father: I find you to be a very interesting child.
Kat: I find you interesting as well.
Their father: Is that so.
Kat (shrugs nonchalantly): Yes...
Their father: Care to enlighten me?
Kat: It's all really not all that enlightening... I simply find it curious that a family that is from what I can tell of high status and obvious wealth would take in and support an entire family that is clearly none of these things.
