Chapter 9 - Waterpark

You walk away from Shino and towards your mom. "Can we talk a bit?" You ask her. She nods and walks away from the others. She still looked a bit gloomy but not as much as before.

Once everyone was out of earshot you began to speak. "Why were you trying to buy Shino's suit for her? She's a little uncomfortable with how forward you're being." She gasps.
"What?! I didn't want her to be uncomfortable! I just wanted to be nice to her, seeing as you like her." Your face turns red. "I also wanted to see if she was the right one for you. She's passed so I wanted to give her my blessings, in a way."

"'Passed'? Actually, never mind that. I have a feeling you set this water park stuff up for another reason than just letting everyone have fun. What's your's and dad's game?" She nervously laughs.
"We may have planned this from the moment you left on Sunday..."
"What do you mean...?"
"We planned the waterpark, getting Shino to come, the swimsuits, everything."
"How did you know Shino would come, though?"
"We didn't. If she couldn't come then, yes we would be sad, but we could still spend time with our son, so it wasn't a total loss." You smile a bit at your mother's generosity. "Also, we may have been trying to set you up with Shino." Your smile fades.

"What did you do?" You sigh.
"I tried to get her to wear a fancy swimsuit to make her look pretty for you."
"So, then the waterpark trip..."
"Was to make her a bit more... Revealing, you could say, for you." You blush once again, harder than before.
"Mom! You can't say those things so casually!"
"But we're just trying to help our son!" You sigh again.
"What kind of swimsuit did you get?" You're partially scared to hear her answer.
"She wouldn't let me get her anything so it was just a one-piece. She kept muttering to herself about how it was 'very similar'. I don't know what she meant, though." You take a deep breath. At least that's not too bad.

"Look, I appreciate the help, I really do, but I don't really want it. But if I do, I'll be sure to ask you both first." You added that last part to lighten the load of your words. It seemed to work a bit.
"Alright... But if you need us for anything - anything - be sure to tell us. You promised."
"I will, mom."

"Are you two coming?" Your dad calls. "We're about to leave!"
"Let's go." You say to her. "We wouldn't want to keep them waiting." She nods, a weak smile was on her face. "Oh, and mom? Thanks for everything." Her smile increased to three times the size.

You're all exiting the car, the waterpark directly in front of you. Everyone gasps in awe at the size of it. There were rides and pools as far as the eye could see. Large slides, Olympic-sized pools, families enjoying themselves in the water. Everything looked like it was truly summer. As you exit, many friendly men and women wave at you, to which you echo back to them.

"This is so cool!" Akira shouted. He quickly takes a glance at all of the rides. "Ooh, let's go on that one!" Of course, he points to the largest slide in the park. He was truly the definition of 'A kid in a candy store.'

"You can go on your rides in a sec," Your dad canceled Akira's childlike wonder. "Just help us unload first." A groan can be heard from Akira before he shuffles his feet back towards the car. You chuckle slightly and follow.

After everything was unpacked, you all went towards the changing rooms to don your swimsuits. Akira wore red and black swimming trunks with a fire pattern imprinted on them. Not wanting to look too similar to Akira, you chose differently: Light blue swimming trunks fading into green and then yellow. It was very basic but it was cheap too. When you saw Shino, you instantly knew what your mom meant when she said, 'It looked similar.' Her swimsuit was the same as her undergarments from GGO: a white one-piece with black lines going around the sides. Her glasses were also removed.
