It's been a few days since the eldest Unnie's fight and they still haven't made up.
The others try to get them to talk but both girls are either busy with something or feel the other should apologize. Nayeon holes her self up in the library researching kinds of magic to find a way to decipher what exactly the firework box could hold. Jeongyeon, although mad, is also trying to find out what the box holds by spying and eavesdropping on Durmstrang students.
"What are you doing?" Jihyo asks and Jeongyeon jumps.
At the moment, Jeongyeon is standing at the corner of a corridor, using a Weasley's Extendable Ear to listen in on a conversation. She had set it up outside of the corridor where Durmstrang students hangout before going back to their magical ship for either break or before bed. Jihyo was walking by and scolding a student, like the Prefect she is, when she turned to see Jeongyeon standing their pretending to read while wearing a weird disguise.
"...reading," Jeongyeon says as if it's obvious and Jihyo rolls her eyes.
"What's with the ear flap hat?" Jihyo flicks the brim of the hat, "And the thick glasses? What's with that weird purple-ish lipstick color?"
"What? Do you not like my fashion sense?" Jeongyeon asks defensively.
"You look dumb," Jihyo deadpans and takes a peak underneath one of her hat's ear flaps. "Is that an Extendable Ear?"
"Maybe..." Jeongyeon whispers and Jihyo peacks around the corner to see a group of Durmstrang students outside the door and an ear, fit in between the stone cracks, above the doorway.
"Hm," Jihyo stands there thinking for a moment, "Meet me in our commons in ten, Chaeyoung and I want to talk to you."
"What? Why?" Jeongyeon asks.
"Just come," Jihyo rolls her eyes and walks away.
Jeongyeon watches her until she disappears out of sight, getting a sense of what exactly the conversation she's about to get into will be about.
"Why don't you just apologize?" Tzuyu whispers.
"I have nothing to apologize for," Nayeon whispers back as she flips through a book on concealment spells.
"Yeah right," Tzuyu rolls her eyes, "You two are amazing and I know you guys really care for each other. Jeongyeon won't leave you for some stuck up french girl."
"Tzu...you may be right but...what if she does?" Nayeon whispers softly. "She's prettier and more exotic than I am. She probably has a better family than we do too."
"Nayeon-unnie, I understand your insecurities but beauty isn't everything," Tzuyu sighs, "Yoo Jeongyeon is anything but a shallow person and she cares about you a lot. In fact, I accidentally walked in on her spying on Durmstrang students yesterday. She's trying to listen for anything they might say about the box for you. She could be going for Beauxbatons but she knows you wouldn't like it if you went anywhere near the students associated with Lilith right now."
"I...hm..." Nayeon sighs a ragged breath, "I guess I've been pretty dumb, huh."
"Yup, now c'mon," Tzuyu stands up, "Let's find her."
"I...I want to think about what to say first," Nayeon says softly, "I'll meet you at the lake at 3 and bring Jeongyeon when you find her."
"Alright," Tzuyu smiles and pats her older cousin's head before walking away.
"What the heck..." Nayeon chuckles as she watches the younger girl disappear behind the book shelves.
As Nayeon sits there, staring at her notes for the box and thinking of what to say to Jeongyeon, something clicks within her.
Fireworks have sparks and trails.
What if the trails are numbers?
Each firework is different....
Nayeon takes out her wand and uses a silencing spell she managed to find so that she can open the box in the library. As she watches the fireworks, she takes note of the different colors and how each color has different trails and patterns. She writes down red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, and pink. As she studies the trails, trying to make a distinction between sparks and trails she feels something hit her. A strange wave of feelings and her world goes dark.
"-yeon...Im Nayeon...NAYEON!" A voice yells and the girl returns to the land of the living.
"W-what?" Nayeon sits up, her head aching and her eyes tunneling.
"Babe...are you okay?" Nayeon turns at the pet name and sees the person next to her is Jeongyeon.
"I...don't think so," Nayeon reels as she feels a wave of nausea.
"Uh oh...and your nose is bleeding too..." Jeongyeon hoists her girlfriend up and crouches down so the older girl can go onto her back. "C'mon, I'll take you to the nurse's."
Nayeon obeys the command and falls onto her back, wrapping her arms around the taller girl. Jeongyeon hooks her arms around Nayeon's legs and stands up. She makes her way through the halls, catching glances but doesn't care. She bursts into the Infirmary and at first Madam Pomfrey was going to yell at her but when she saw the sight of Nayeon she directed Jeongyeon to a bed instead.
"What happened?" The nurse asks as she checks Nayeon's pulse, temperature, eyes, mouth, etc.
"I don't know, her cousin brought me to the lake because she said she would be there but she wasn't so I was directed to the library," Jeongyeon explains, "But when I got there, she was out like a light and her nose was bleeding."
"Hm, it seems she was hit with a pretty high impact spell that knocked her out..." The nurse says as she prepares some concoction in a glass cup, "It also gave her a concussion, the nose bleed is from her impact with whatever was in front of her...the desk or a book I presume...a very hard impact it seems."
"She'll be okay, right?" Jeongyeon asks as the nurse waves her wand above the little potion.
"Oh yes, this should get rid of her concussion," The nurse shakes raises the little cup she's stirring, "The nose bleed seems to have stopped, we just have to clean up her face."
"Oh, that's good then..." Jeongyeon sighs, closing her eyes for a moment in relief. When she opens them again the nurse is staring at her. "What?"
"Oh, you thought I was going to clean up her face while making this potion?" The nurse asks and Jeongyeon flinches.
"O-oh, uh, no I can do that..." Jeongyeon mutters and looks around for something to clean her face with.
Jeongyeon takes a paper towel, dabs it with some water, and cleans her girlfriend's face. As she does this, she watches the nurse wave her wand one last time and the clear potion turns pink. The nurse sets down her wand, takes out the little stirring stick and opens the half conscious Nayeon's mouth. She pours the potion in her mouth and they watch Nayeon slowly gulp it down. She makes a sour face but then closes her eyes.
"She'll be out for an hour or so," Madam Pomfrey explains as she gathers her things, "I suggest you pick whatever she left behind."
"Ah, right, okay," Jeongyeon nods and thanks the nurse before leaving.
As she walks back to the library, she remembers something.
It didn't seem like Nayeon had anything with her when she found her. Jeongyeon enters the library and goes back to the spot where she found Nayeon. She notices the books were still there but nothing else.
"Yo," Jeongyeon turns around and sees it's Chaeyoung and Tzuyu.
"Hey...do you guys know what Nayeon brought here?" Jeongyeon asks.
"She brought a notebook and her box," Tzuyu recalls, "The rest were just books she found and pulled out."
"Hm, well, uh, there's no box or notebook here," Jeongyeon frowns.
"Well wouldn't it be with Nayeon?" Chaeyoung asks, tilting her head in confusion.
"Nayeon got hurt," Jeongyeon says, panic rising a little. "Why isn't her box or notebook here?"
"...did someone actually take it?" Tzuyu whispers and the two other girls look to her wide-eyed.
The three frantically search the area...even the entire library. They ask the few people around and none of them seem to know or have seen a thing. After twenty minutes, they meet outside the library and call it: someone stole Nayeon's stuff.
"I'll go tell Professor Shacklebolt," Jeongyeon says, "You two tell the others what's happened."
The three go there separate ways and while the two cousins run to people, Tzuyu whips out her wand. She walks around the library, waving a wand to try and track or locate anything that can help her using various revealing and tracking spells. When she has no luck, she sighs and leaves the library. She thinks about who could've done it and a name stands out like red on white.
"Alexander Nott," She spats and turns around sharply on her heels.
What kind of idiot doesn't want their own school to win a tournament...
