Naturally, the beauty dept went mad.
"DID YOU JUST HIT OUR ELI?!"
She expertly moves away as an entire group of girls rushed over to slap her for her transgressions. The speaker seemed to be struggling to contain the situation, not when even he was also trying to understand what just happened.
Eli stood frozen amidst all the chaos, staring holes after her.
All of a sudden, it almost felt as if they were back on that night. Separated by a single wall, and speaking loudly if only to hear the other.
"Eli Jang!" she yelled out. "I'll set that damn date later!"
"No you won't!" some random girl rioted, trying to grab her.
(Y/N) watches as a smile slowly crept up the handsome boy's face. It was an expression that was both new and and off.
"Alright."
Finally, an answer. Took him long enough.
(Y/N) can now turn around and flee as fast as she could with an angry pack of girls running after her. Hopefully, the auction will continue as she leads the chaos away.
It was actually very easy to make the girls lose her. She didn't know how long she ran, but when she looked back, there was no longer anyone after her tail.
Come to think of it, their shouts probably vanished after the first fifteen minutes.
Now level-headed and alone, she just came to realize how impulsive she just acted...
(Y/N) groaned, slapping her face with her hand. She cannot believe she just used all her salary to buy that slippery guy!
The auction is probably over by now, right?
She can already hear Zoe's inquiries about her impulsive action. Ugh...it is really not what the girl probably thinks it is.
Walking idly, the (h/c) haired girl found herself in what seemed to be the parking lot of the school.
She doesn't really go in this area. She, unfortunately, doesn't know the way out.
Thankfully she heard voices just as she was about to lose hope and sit on the pavement.
"Let...let go!"
That was a rather loud shout.
There wasn't anyone in the parking lot. Surely, whoever that was would be able to understand each other without yelling?
However, there was an unsettling feeling in her gut that told her the voice is eerily familiar...again.
If she gets five dollars every time she finds Daniel in danger somewhere, she'd probably not be broke anymore.
She found three figures standing around as she turns a corner.
Yep, that was Daniel Park, alright. It is hard to mistake his backview for anyone else.
There is a girl too. Probably the one who bought him from the auction that just started.
As for the third person...
"This punk..."
(Y/N)'s blood ran cold.
Once upon a time, in the gym she used to work at, there was a strange person that came in just as she was trying to learn the moves she witnessed the men do.
Maybe it was her rotten luck that managed to impress that person.
But at that time, she only felt humiliated when she was beaten to the ground with a single strike.
The girl stood frozen. First came the white noise in her ears.
Then the phantom pain of a time she used to go through.
Last came terror. And with it came an onslaught of memories.
She should've never agreed to learn from that man—
That person kept talking. His visage blurs with the figure in (Y/N)'s memories. All she can see is the smooth gym floor. A boxing ring in the center.
Cold eyes that stared right through her.
"Hey glasses."
A faintly familiar voice cut through her haze.
"What do you think you're doing? I saw everything, you punk."
At that moment, (Y/N) returned to the present time. Her legs felt weaker than usual, but at least she's no longer stuck.
Vasco had joined the conversation. As for Daniel, he was for some reason on his ass down the ground.
Whatever Vasco was saying, it failed to make the other back off.
(Y/N) cursed under her breath as the man's fist met his face.
What are you doing?
So, even before she can think properly of what she was doing, her own feet started rushing towards the danger. It blatantly ignored the blaring warnings in her head.
Danger.
This is dangerous.
But if she leaves, she wouldn't know whether those two idiots would walk away unscathed.
She couldn't care less them any other time, but the situation is different. Because this man is dangerous.
Vasco raised his arms to what seemed to be his signature fighting stance.
Before things escalate further, (Y/N) lunged forward to tackle Vasco away. Somewhere he wouldn't be able to reach his opponent.
She can feel how the teen tensed at her appearance. She also can tell when his body language melted into confusion and bewilderment.
"You..." he squinted his eyes at her as she hastily moves away from him. "Daniel's sister."
"Don't call me that," she grumbled, sending a side glare at said boy who looks as stumped as the one she just tackled.
As for the other two...it seems the lady grabbed her companion's arm before he can throw a punch.
She feels a heavy gaze on her as she turns her head to stare them down.
The pretty girl still looks nervous for the most part. Which is only fair, considering the person she had with her.
"(Y/N) Park."
She dared meet the dark eyes directed at her.
With pursed lips, she spat out, "Gun."
Wow, okay now she can feel the inquisitive looks from multiple directions. From that girl, from Daniel and from Vasco.
This was all Eli Jang's fault. If only he revealed himself sooner, maybe she wouldn't have had to hurriedly buy him and run away with his fangirls after her hide. Maybe she wouldn't have gotten lost in the parking lot and maybe she wouldn't have met the devil incarnate.
"You," said Gun, frowning. "Are still playing your game, I see."
Her fingers twitched.
"And you." He now diverted his attention to Daniel, who looked pale as he was addressed. "I lost my reason since I haven't fought for ages."
A few more words were spoken. And the woman apologized once more.
They left soon after.
(Y/N) felt all the strength leave her body as they vanish. She plopped to the pavement.
Similar to her, Vasco collapsed on the ground, nose bleeding from the punch he caught with his face.
"Daniel's sister..."
"Quit calling me that."
"Her name's (Y/N)," Daniel kindly provided.
"Who was that in glasses?"
Now even Daniel is looking at her. She scowled at him and turned to the ground.
"Just an acquaintance."
"When did you meet him?" her brother asked rather foolishly.
"None of your business."
"Siblings shouldn't fight." Now, Vasco was the one butting into the conversation, looking back and forth between the two siblings.
Then, in a completely different note, he said to Daniel, "I can beat you if we fight again. But...I can't defeat that guy."
(Y/N) groaned and searched her pockets in hope for a lollipop. No luck.
"Come to think of it," she mentioned. "You both know Muay Thai. But Gun would definitely still win, even if he only use that."
Well, that sound less of just acquaintanship, Daniel thoughtfully looked at his sister. And that guy greeted her too...
"Then," Vasco looked down, rather dramatic shadows casted over his face. "I'm still too weak."
Oh.
(Y/N) doesn't really do well with upset people she's not that close with.
So it was almost a relief when Daniel happened to say something that semeed to do the trick.
She awkwardly watched the two talk to each other. Should she leave...?
But then she witnessed Vasco hand over the other milk that miraculously reappeared in his hand.
"I found it on the street."
"T...thanks. I'm thirsty."
(Y/N) swore she was about to barf out blood. Unfortunately, she doesn't have fake blood with her, so she settled for coughing rather violently.
Vasco was alarmed at her sudden fit. He looked worried, which is surprisingly kind of him.
"Sure okay," she bitterly stared at the box on her brother's hand. "I'm used to this. I'm a ghost, after all. I don't exist in the original plot..."
"Oh..."
Don't "Oh" her! Daniel Park, how many times is this that you got something from others while she gets none?! This is starting to become very unfair!
Okay, maybe this is payback for ignoring his presence in their previous school.
"Well, you can have it instead—"
"Keep it," she frowned. "Didn't you say you were thirsty?"
"On the second thought, I think I really wasn't..."
"Shut up, Daniel."
"But—"
"You can have this," Vasco suddenly shoved to her direction the other milk he brought with him. "I didn't drink it anyway."
(Y/N) didn't know what to feel. She only stared at the box with a complicated expression.
Uh-huh. Sure. This person totally wasn't drinking it when he appeared on the scene.
The box is totally half-empty just because.
"No, keep it."
Except the box was not lowered at all.
Vasco's expression is very...defiant. With the way he looks, the girl didn't have the heart to tell him there's no way she's drinking from the same straw he did...
What the heck just happened? This sudden twist is unexpected.
Daniel also seems to be thinking along the same lines as her, if the gaping was any indication.
"I—"
"I only found one milk on the street," the teen said, with his eyes set somewhere that wasn't to the girl he was talking to.
Seeing the closest she'd probably see him to being bashful, (Y/N) finally gave in.
"...Thanks."
How did the school festival end like this? Wasn't she just enjoying the events not too long ago?
"If we fight again, I can beat you."
"Okay, okay."
"And (Y/N). You're strong at arm wrestling. I will also beat you next time."
"Haha, sure."
Then she paused and narrowed her eyes at her brother.
"Don't you have a talent contest to go to?"
"..."
