"Five... Five Hargreeves!", Y/n was chasing after him at the station as he finally reached the train and sat down inside making Y/n sigh as she rushed in because the doors were about to close.
"Every single time!", Y/n mumbled frustrated at Five not listening to her.
Five took a deep breath as he sat down on one of the chairs while Y/n keenly observed him for a second.
Hmmm... What do do with him?
Y/n looked at him as she took off her coat and threw it right at his face...
followed by one of her shoes...
And then the other.
"What are you doing?!", he asked as the shoe finally hit his head.
"You know deserved it! You are an idiot, Five Hargreeves! I hope you know that very well!", she exclaimed throwing everything that her hands could find, right at him.
"Will you calm down?", he asked. "Calm down?! You want me to "calm down"?! After this completely stupid stunt you just pulled again?", Y/n asked.
"What stunt?", he asked looking clueless which made Y/n even more angry.
"What stunt? What- Are you for real right now? How-", Y/n asked him in disbelief as she cut herself off and was trying to find something to hit him with but couldn't so she grabbed onto the last thing left on her.
"Oh come on! Not the wedding ring!", Five argued making her finally come to a halt.
"The wedding rings matters? Our marriage matter?... You didn't think of that before?!", Y/n argued as she sighed and put the ring back on, falling back to one of the seats.
Five slowly grabbed her things and shoes and walked closer to her. He sat down beside and looked at her taking a deep breath.
"Are you calm now?", he asked.
"I could still slap you across the face a million times... So if that's calm... I am calm... I am extremely calm. Cool as a cucumber", she sighed crackling her knuckles.
It won't be wrong to say... Five really scared of her right now.
"I guess... We need to talk", Five said clearing his throat.
"You "guess"? You really think so? Five... You make the most idiotically vile and quickest dumb decisions without giving them a second thought", Y/n said.
"That's a lot of insults", he mumbled. "I could come up with a hundred more... Don't test me and explain yourself right now", Y/n said.
"I just thought... After all this time... You... You may finally believe Diego, Y/n", Five said.
"Why would I "believe" Diego? What is there to "believe" anyways?", Y/n asked.
"If you keep saying it over and over again... that something happened between me and... L-lila... Something like that. It may look like its actually true and you-", he was cut off.
"You think I would believe that?", Y/n asked. "I am just saying-", he was cut off again.
"No! How... I have repeated this speech over and over again, Five... Years and years... Decades together and just... What do you want me to do for you to have complete trust that I won't walk away from you? What have I one that made you have so much trust issues in my regard? Tell me? What do I need to do more to make you understand that I love you so much and there is nothing that can make me walk away from you... Unless you cheat on me", Y/n said.
"That's exactly my point! You have been though with me through every thick and thin and problem of our life and nothing has made you hate me but the one thing you wouldn't tolerate is me cheating on you and Diego just keeps saying it over again and again and Lila... Oh she is a whole other story. I mean... You could give in, Y/n. Doubt is so human and doubt ruins relationships... No matter how much you love me, you... You are only human. And I haven't given you much to trust me so you not believing me would make perfect sense but I can't see that happening Y/n. I can't see that look on your face again where you don't know who I am and-", his monologue was cut off by Y/n placing her hands in his cheeks and pulling him in for a passionate kiss only pulling away due to the lack of oxygen.
"D-does this give you an answer, Five?", she breathed out while he took a deep breath to gain his oxygen levels back. "Hmm", he replied a bit stunned to speak as the train came to a stop.
"I love you... And I trust you", she mumbled. "A-after everything that happened? Still?", he asked.
"I always will, Five... Better keep that thing in your stupid brain now", Y/n said as she sighed getting up the seat and sitting on the one right in front of him.
"So... You were just going to walk away?", Y/n asked. "Yes... You hating me?... It was better to just walk away", he said.
"With a giant monster on leash... leaving your family, especially your wife and children behind... A star for parenting, Five", she said.
"The kids! Oh God! The kids!", he realized as his eyes widened in shock.
He looked at Y/n expecting another sarcastic comment by her but he saw her looking behind him immensely confused, her eyes narrow.
He turned around to follow her gaze only to see... himself walking away outside looking at the couple with a smirk.
"Okay... I have officially lost my mind", Y/n said. "No... I just saw myself", Five said.
"What were... How can you be at two places... at the small place. Twice. At the same time?", Y/n asked.
"We are about to find out", he said as the subway doors opened. "Quick. We need to follow him", Five said as she grabbed onto his hand and they rushed out.
"Hey, wait!", Five said but the other Five didn't stop making them go down the stairs as they finally reached a weird diner.
"Max's Delicatessen... Does that mean anything to you?", Y/n asked as Five shook his head completely lost as well as they entered the diner.
"There you go! Our specials...", a random Five said as Y/n looked around, her eyes widening in shock.
"There is you... A lot... of you", Y/n said confusion and shock evident in her voice.
"Yeah", he mumbled. "Are we... by any chance... dead?", Y/n asked as Five gave her a weird look.
"No?... Why would you say something that?", he asked.
"Because this seems like a really nice idea... You all around", Y/n smiled a bit making Five raise an eyebrow. "On the contrary", Five mumbled.
"Miss Y/n! Your coat!", a cashier Five held his hand out and she hesitantly handed her coat to him.
"I will place it on the stand there. You can take it while leaving. It's really warm in here", he smiled making her nod a bit nervously.
"Thank you... Five", Y/n said. "Anything for you", he winked walking away making Five look at her with an eyebrow raised.
"Don't give me that look... It was literally you", Y/n argued. Before their conversation could continue, it was cut off.
"Hey, you!... Over here", a rather interested looking Five sitting on the table, called them. "Y/n!", they realized as a few Fives came running to her making her gulp.
"Never mind... I take it back. This is very very creepy... You being everywhere... Oh dear... I feel like I am trapped in a nightmare", Y/n mumbled.
"Can someone get Drunk Five out of here? He will scare Y/n away", a random Five asked as Y/n saw a Five standing beside the wall holding a picture and pathetically drinking his sorrows away.
"Oh no... Poor Five", she mumbled.
"Would you like something?".
"Are you warm enough?".
"Should we turn up the heat?".
"What would you like to order?".
"Which one of us is better looking?".
"Are you tired? You should rest".
"Is there anything I can get you?".
The questions were thrown at her from random directions as she couldn't even trace who was speaking.
"Um... I am so sorry, I have no idea which one of you just said what... I wouldn't like anything. It's not cold. I am warm enough, Nothing to order in particular. No-one is better looking because you all look the same really... And I am not tired neither do I need rest... You can all please um... get back to your work", Y/n said as they nodded walking slightly away from her getting back to their tasks.
"Oh please hold my hand... I will get lost here", Y/n said making Five smiled a bit as he grabbed onto her hand softly and they took a seat down in front of the Other Five that called them there before.
"What is this place?", Y/n and Five asked. "It's a gas station... The hell does it look like? It's a deli", Five replied.
"Why are you being so mean?", Y/n asked as other Five gave her a gentle smile. "I am sorry, love... That was meant for him", other Five said.
"H-how... How long have you been here?", Y/n asked. "Quite a while... I am not sure really", he said.
"How does that even work?", Y/n asked.
"Trust me... You don't wanna start that conversation right now... You will loose your mind and still won't get it... Becuase no-one really does. So leave it be", he said.
"So... It's just you all... Not me?", Y/n asked. "Oh no... Oh definitely not... No me without you... They are in the diner across", other Five pointed at a building across the diner they were at.
"W-what am I... I mean what are they doing there?", Y/n asked.
"It their time right now... They often end up being done with our shit and then they need some time to lift their spirits", other Five said making Y/n look at the real Five and nod a bit.
"That's understandable", Y/n said. "Coffee. And... two pastrami", waiter Five served both Fives as his eyes fell on Y/n.
"I am sorry... I wasn't expecting you. What can I get you, darling?", he asked. "Darling?", real Five mumbled. "N-nothing... Thanks", she mumbled.
"As you wish... I will be right there. Just call me", he smiled at her. "Is the name tag really necessary?", Y/n asked.
"The others try impersonating me", he whispered as he looked at the other Fives. "They do?", Y/n asked as he gave her a firm nod.
"Bon appétit", the waiter Five said. "Wait- On second thought... Could you get me a cake?", Y/n asked. "Sure...", he said as he was about to walk away.
"Won't you ask me which one?", Y/n asked. "I already know, love", he said as he walked away and returned in less than a minute with a plate of her favorite cake slice.
"Oh... That's looks amazing. Thank you", she said as she took a bite. "You got a little on you", he raised his hand close to her cheek but real Five yeeted it away.
"Go back to your own wife", Five said making the waiter roll his eyes.
"Call me if you need more, honey", he said making Y/n nod as she wiped her lips with a tissue and the waiter Five walked away. "What are you thinking?", real Five asked her.
"That you make... one hot and handsome looking waiter, Five", she smiled making him playfully roll his eyes as he looked at what he was just served with.
"It's a little light on the sauerkraut, no?", real Five suggested.
"Yeah, it says it on the menu... I keep telling him, but he never listens... And he is a flirt... In case that wasn't obvious", other Five said completely done with the waiter.
"Sorry", Five mumbled. "It's not your fault", other Five said.
"Aren't you basically all the same people?", Y/n asked. "Yes, you're right so... Theoretically, it is", real Five said grabbing the cup of coffee.
"Oh... you're not gonna... like that", other Five said. "Why would you brew a coffee that you won't like?", Y/n asked.
"We are pathetic", other Five smiled a bit as he looked back at Five.
"So I take it you figured out the subway system by now", other Five asked taking a bite of his meal. "Alternate versions of the same moment in time?", Five suggested.
"That is correct... You'd be surprised how long it took some of the Fives to figure that out. Most of the times it was the Y/ns that figured it out", other Five explained as Y/n looked at Five with a small smile.
"I guess you aren't the brightest in every timeline", Y/n said as Five gave her a look. "So... What exactly is going on here?", Y/n asked.
"We're all Fives... from alternate timelines. Most of us here have given up trying to fix the problem", other Five replied.
"Amazing... We are in the right place", Y/n said as real Five gave her another look. "What problem?", Five asked.
"The broken timeline, man. There's only supposed to be one", other Five said. "I don't get it. I...", Five was trying to understand.
"Look around, Five. Does this seem right to you?", he asked. "No, but...", he was cut off.
"You think Einstein was thinking of this when he was figuring out relativity?... Not a chance. This shit woulda made his head explode", other Five explained.
"What about the concepts of timelines in itself?... You mean there is only supposed to be one?", Y/n asked. "Yes absolutely", other Five explained.
"Okay. So what shattered the original timeline?", Five asked. "Not "what", "Who". And I will give you three guesses to figure it out", he said rather playfully.
"We did!", the other waiter Five said enthusiastically after he rang the bell. "Why you always gotta wreck shit, Brisket Five? Why?", he asked making the latter shrug.
"By "we," he means the family. My siblings?", Five asked. "The morons, yeah", other Five mumbled. "I'm familiar with them. Yeah", Five said.
"One perfect timeline, and the moment we come into existence... boom! Shattered to an infinite number of alternate timelines in an infinite loop of time as we try and save the world... How many times was it again?", he asked the Five reading newspaper sitting behind the couple.
"145,412", that Five replied. "That's a lot... He's like Rain Man, that one. He loves numbers...", he said as he looked at Y/n. "You have been quite for too long, you know that?", he asked.
"Wait hold on... I am sorry. I am not following. You aren't making any sense to me", Y/n said. "Which part exactly?", other Five asked.
"On October 1st, 1989, 43 children were born, right? How come it's just the seven of them causing this? What about the rest of them?", Y/n asked.
"Guess you are smarter than him in your timeline too... That, my dear, Y/n, is an excellent question", he sighed as he took another bite as the couple looked at each other confused.
"Thank you for the compliment but I am expecting an answer, Five", Y/n said.
"Right... First of all, it's not seven but eight people because you are a carrier of the marigold too now", he said making Five sigh.
"Yeah... So about the 43 children born. Yes, that happened in the original time... But most of them didn't survive, Y/n... There is a reason why there is only few of you. You think he wouldn't get more than just 7. He would have gotten all of them if he could... But they didn't make it past a certain age", other Five explained as Y/n looked at Five confused.
"So... you are telling me that we are the only ones left. The children born that day?", Five asked. "Precisely", Five replied.
"What about your families?", Y/n asked. "Dead... Gone. No more Marigold. Our worlds ended in apocalypses and for some reason we lost out powers", he mumbled as he looked at the pictures.
"Oh, by the way, check out the artwork... It's all the different ways we've made our universe go kaboom... Gold star for consistency, am I right?", he asked as he squeezed his eyes a bit looking at Y/n.
"Why are you looking at me like that, darling?", he asked. "Why are you... so relaxed about all this? You are talking so casually as if you have-", she was cut off.
"Accepted my fate?", he asked as she nodded. "It's because I have... I have given up hence the realization. I've got nothing to worry about", he said.
"We need to fix this", Five said.
"Oh, trust me... We've tried. That's why one of us created the Commission... He wanted to undo all the broken timelines. Get back to the one and only. But that always fails because...", other Five paused himself.
"The family is the problem... We're doomed to save or destroy the world over and over again, ad infinitum", Five realized. "Bingo", the Five behind other Five said.
"Bingo", other Five repeated munching on his food. "Sorry... I need to get back to my family. Stop this from ever happening", Five said standing up and walking away.
"Well, good luck with that... Guess you don't want your brisket to go?", other Five yelled but real Five was long gone yet Y/n was still sitting there staring at him.
"What are you thinking, my love?", he asked. "You... You were the one that created the commission, weren't you?", Y/n asked as his lips slowly curved into a smile.
"You really are the bright one, huh? Yeah... That one was me... That was precisely me", he said.
"Didn't you... you know-", she was cut off. "You can say dead, Y/n. I died... yes", he said. "Then how are you here?", she asked.
"Like I said... This is not normal... None of this is", he said. "I should get going", Y/n said as she stood up but he softly held her hand in his.
"Thank you", he whispered. "For what?", he asked. "You didn't let me die alone", he said making her realize she was right by his side when that happened.
Y/n shook her head as he gave him a smile. "I am sure your Y/n would have done the same", she said.
"She couldn't... She left me too early... I always blamed myself for that", he mumbled. "Is she here.. now? I really hope she is. Is she?", Y/n asked.
"Right in the diner across. It's prettier with her, you know... I wouldn't make it without her", he smiled.
"I am glad. Just don't annoy her much. We... God that sounds weird. I love... Five more than anything in this world. So... just be okay. We will try fixing this", Y/n said as he nodded.
"You can try... I will look forward to it", he said. "I will try my best", she said. "And if everything goes down the hill... You can always come back here", he said.
"What about the kids?", Y/n asked. "Bring them along... We've got a place for them too", he smiled making her look at him shocked.
"They are here too?", Y/n asked surprised as the door opened and the real Five was standing there.
"Come back already! We need to stop the others", Five said as Y/n nodded.
"A question for next time! Goodbye, darling", other Five gave her a gently smile as he walked closer to her and placed her coat on the top of her shoulders gently.
"Be safe", he whispered.
"You too".
