Calliste was woken up by a dark haired boy with sea green eyes. He was staring at her probably wondering why it took her so long to wake up.
“Finally, you’re awake.” The boy said. He looked like he was around seventeen years old.
"Who are you?” I asked as I rubbed my temples. How long was I out? I wondered
"You should get some rest. I’m Percy Jackson and you are?" He asked me
"I'm Calliste Vernon." I said as he offered me a glass of something that looked like blended cupcakes and milk chocolate.
"What is this?" I pointed at the now empty class. It tasted just like the chocolate cupcakes my nanny gave me when I was 10.
"Its nectar. It’s supposed to appear as your favorite food. I should leave you now since you already woke up. Chiron, our camp activities director would like to speak to you and your friends later." He said as he closed the door
After awhile I had enough strength to walk and get out of the cabin. I saw Grover and a small girl with amber hair and a light green glow on her skin. Must be his girlfriend I thought. I approached them and waved.
"Hi Grover!!" I said as I caught him blushing
"You must be Grover's girlfriend! I'm Calliste" I said “Grover tells me about you all the day. I taught he was just exaggerating but you really are pretty.
"Thanks! I’m Juniper by the way" She blushed
"Do you know where Chiron is? I was told that he wants to talk to me." I told her
"He's in the Big House just turn right over there" she pointed
I thanked her and followed her directions and I saw an old guy talking to Tabitha and Ella. He must be Chiron I thought. I got closer and his appearance changed the old forty year old guy I saw turned into a centaur: half man and half horse. I blinked twice at looked at him again. He was still a centaur. I must have hit my head before I fell. He approached me and said
“You must be Calliste. You and your friends need to stay here though 1 of them is mortal"
"I don't understand." I told him
"You know about Greek Mythology right? Gods, goddesses, nymphs, satyrs and the like"
"Like Zeus, the Fates and Hercules..... Yeah we studied about them in class"
"Well they're real. One of your parents is a god since you were able to pass the barrier."
"Really!!! So I'll get to see who my father is?" I answered enthusiastically. I never really met my father. He left before I was born. I know most people would be mad if that happened but I understand him. He probably spent little time with her. I only get to see my mom around 3 times a week because she is so busy with her work.
My mom told me that she and my dad met at her office after her meeting. “He was the most beautiful person that I have ever seen in my entire life.” My mom would gush every time she talked about dad.
"If go on a quest you might bump into him.” Chiron answered
"You said one of my friends is a mortal. I don't get you. I’m mortal. Are you mortal?"
"Tabitha is the girl with red hair and brown eyes right?"
"Yeah"
"She is mortal but Annabeth granted her entry to the boundary that protects us from monster attacks."
"But will she stay with us?"
"That depends if the Hunters of Artemis are still recruiting she could join them."
"But what if she won't, what if she accidentally says that there are centaurs and satyrs in a camp in her sleep and someone hears?"
"Calliste, There is something called the Mist it is a supernatural force that twists a mortal's sight from seeing monsters, gods and other things. She probably taught I was a guy riding a horse.”
"What about my mother? She must be worried. But I guess she won’t notice I’m gone until next week when she comes back from Australia"
"We already contacted her. She allowed you to stay here in Camp Half Blood. It’s already 10:00 time for me to teach another class." He said then he left hurriedly
Since my friends and I were not given classes yet we went to a lake near the Big House. A girl with light brown hair, caramel eyes with elfish features and an attractive looking boy that seems to change appearance were teasing each other. I decided to be friendly and waved at them.
"Hi I'm Calliste"
"Hey! I'm Chelsea and this is Daemon." she pointed Daemon wanted to speak but Chelsea interrupted him.
"Don't talk to him. He might tell you to fall in love with him."
"Huh?!" I raised my eyebrow.
"He's the son of Aphrodite he can probably flirt with every girl in the world."
"Oh and you?”
"Hermes, god of travelers, merchants and others blah blah blah"
"Cool" I said
We talked about other stuff and I later found out that me and my friends got to stay in her cabin since we wasn't claimed yet.
"Hey look seems like your buddy just got a play mate" she pointed
I looked at where she pointed and saw Tabitha and Daemon holding hands.
I poked Ella and pointed at them
"Yo! Love birds time for lunch!" Ella yelled
They both looked at Ella and blushed
We went to the Dining Pavilion and sat at the tables for the Hermes cabin. It was really crowded since some of the demigods weren’t claimed yet. I saw Chelsea going up to the fire and dropping a small portion of her food to the flames.
"Chelsea, why are you wasting food?" I asked
"You're supposed to offer a portion of your food to the gods. Here let me show you how." she said as she grabbed my plate and dropped a small portion of cheese.
After eating Ella and I went with Chelsea to go strawberry picking. Tabitha didn't come with us since she wanted to spend more time with Daemon.
"Calliste the door to the gardening tools is locked. Do you have a hairpin or something?" Ella asked
"No I don't" I replied
Then a boy with blonde hair and brown eyes appeared and snapped his finger and the lock on the door broke.
Then Ella ran to him and yelled "My hero!!!" I ran up to him and told him
"Don't worry she always does that."
"No its fine." he replied
I got Ella's hand and went inside the room
"That was so embarrassing!" she said
"And you just realized it now." I replied
Chelsea went inside and grabbed a shovel and she told Ella.
"The guy you hugged awhile ago is Patrick. He thinks you're cute."
Ella looked like a tomato from blushing.
After getting our gardening tools we started planting strawberry seeds. Since Ella is the friendliest human I know so she and Patrick immediately became friends. I saw both of them planting the strawberry seeds. Chelsea and I immediately gushed
"They're perfect for each other!!"
After around 30 minutes of picking strawberries I got bored and decided to go Pegasus riding. I saw a girl with straight black hair and gray eyes. She went up to me and said
"Hi. You're new here right? I'm Julia daughter of Apollo. I'll teach you how to ride a Pegasus." she smiled
"I'm Calliste Vernon" I nodded my head
"Have you tried riding a horse?" she asked
"Yeah but I fell on the first try and gave up riding horses altogether."
"Well i guess I'll have to teach you everything."
After awhile I got to ride her horse Cardi. At first it was kind of hard to tell Cardi to fly but after a few more tries she already follows my directions. After class Julia invited me and my friends to the lake.
"So what's it like to live normally?" Daemon asked Tabitha who was the only mortal in Camp Half Blood
"Its okay but I don't really get to meet people like you." she flirted. The topic started to be boring so I left unnoticed.
I decided to take a walk in the woods. I was admiring the calmness of the place when suddenly a guy appeared and bumped me. We both fell to the ground.
"I'm sorry. Are you alright?" he asked. He had dark shaggy hair that fell in the right places, Dark brown eyes.
"I'm fine." I dusted the soil on my shirt. “I’m Calliste Vernon.” I smiled
"I'm Nico di Angelo. Nice to meet you." He stared at me wondering why I wasn’t afraid of him. He probably was bullied a lot here.
I laughed remembering what happened earlier
"Why are you laughing?" he said
"How did you do that? You just appeared out of nowhere?” I told him and he blushed. It was very obvious since his skin was very pale.
"It's nothing. Um thanks."
"Are you new here?" He asked
"Yes. Is it really that obvious?' I told him
"Not really" he answered “It’s just that people here don’t talk to me often
We continued to talk more and I discovered that he could appear from one place to another because he was the son of Hades. He told me about his adventures in the Underworld and how it was like training with dead skeletons.
After awhile the dinner bell rang
"It's time for dinner." Nico said
We went to the Dining Pavilion and I sat with him.
"Calliste you're not supposed to sit with me it's against the rules." he said
"Oh Okay. I guess I should go then." I said and I left the table
I went to the Hermes table and wondered why everybody on the table was looking at me like I was a lost lamb.
"There you are where have you been. I've been looking all over for you!" Chelsea said
"Sorry. I got lost." I lied. I didn’t tell her about Nico since he said that people here didn’t like him that much.
After we ate our dinner we had a campfire sing along. As I sat down holding a marshmallow and a stick everyone suddenly looked at me. There was lightning bolt on top of my head.
"Hail Calliste Selene Vernon. You are the daughter of Zeus. The god of sky, the ruler of the Olympian gods” Chiron said as he bowed. Soon everyone followed him. After that there was a huge lightning in the sky. Suddenly everyone gasped again and thankfully not at me but at Ella. I saw a blue trident floating on top of her head. Then Percy appeared overjoyed and said "Hey sister! I’m Percy nice to meet you!" He grinned Ella blushed and waved. That was probably the only moment that Ella was too shy to speak.
