We were told to wait outside the stables by Chiron. I wondered why Calliste was a bit later than usual. Usually she’d be here before me. After a few minutes of waiting for her I saw her walking with a bright blue lightning pendant on her neck.
“Where have you been? I’ve been waiting for you for almost 10 minutes. By the way where’d you get that?” I pointed at her necklace.
“Sorry, I was late Ella. Chiron wanted to talk to me after class. He said my dad gave this.” She told me
“Cool.” I told her. Secretly I felt a bit jealous because my father hasn’t given me anything yet.
“So can you summon water already?” She asked me curiously
“How did you know? Have you been spying on me?” I asked her. I haven’t actually tried it yet. I wanted to tell her but I decided against it.
“No! I’ve seen Percy controlling water.”
“Oh…” I replied. I felt my blood bubbling. It’s kind of unfair that everyone expects me to be perfect like Percy because I’m his sister.
“Everybody please grab a bucket of water and start cleaning.” Chiron said.
Calliste and I grabbed a bucket and I decided to see if I could summon water. I went near the fountain and used my strength to bring the water to me. The water was so strong that it filled my bucket and Calliste’s in just a few seconds. I tried to stop the water from going to us but it was too strong. The fountain overflowed and the rest of the campers were wet from head to toe. Then Percy went up to the fountain and stopped the overflow of water by concentrating. Then he went up to me “Nice one Ella. At least you didn’t wet the horses. This is actually good for your first try Ella.” He said as he patted my back.
“Aww that was so sweet. I wished I had a brother like you.” Calliste told me
“Nah I liked it better when I had a little brother not an older one.” I told her
We went to the stables and I heard one of the horses speaking. I taught I was going nuts so I went to Chiron and told him about it.
“Chiron, I’m starting to imagine that the horses are speaking to me. I think I’m going crazy over this demigod thing. Can you bring me to the nearest mental hospital?” I told him
“There’s nothing wrong with hearing horses talk if you’re a child of Poseidon. Even Percy can hear them talk.” He said
“Oh so I’m not crazy?” I asked him
“No you’re not Ella. But if you want to I can bring you to the Big House and let Mr. D turn you crazy.”
“Thanks but no thanks” I told him
I saw Percy in a stall. I decided to talk to him and see if he can talk to horses too.
“Hey Percy” I told him
“Hi Ella” he answered back
“So… Can you talk to horses too?” I asked him
“Are you talking about me?” the horse said to me
“Ahhh!” I yelled
“Yeah I can. Looks like you’re getting the hang of it too. This is Blackjack my horse.” He pointed at the horse that spoke to me earlier
“Hi?” I told the horse
“Hi! Percy’s little sis right? Do you happen to have sugar cubes?” Blackjack asked me
“No, I don’t.” I told Blackjack
“Not so nice meeting you.” Blackjack murmured
“Hey! Don’t say that Blackjack I’ll buy you sugar cubes later ok.” Percy said
“Fine! Nice meeting you Ella.” Blackjack told me
“Nice meeting you too.” I giggled
Everyone started gathering to Chiron. I spotted Chelsea and Calliste. They waved at me and I went to them.
“Everyone please proceed to the Big House after class. I have an announcement to make.” He said
“So I guess we should start going.” Chelsea replied
“Sure” Calliste and I said in unison
As we were walking to the Big House, we spotted Calliste’s friend Nico. I decided to tell her.
“Hey Cal isn’t that your friend, Nico?” I asked her
“Where?” she asked looking at the opposite direction. She was avoiding him for a few hours already. When we had lunch Calliste didn’t make eye contact or wave at him like she usually does.
“Oh too late he already left.” I told her
I could hear her sigh of relief but I decided not to tell her I heard it. We went inside the Big House. I saw Percy and Annabeth sitting together. I decided to wave at him.
“Hey Perce!” I waved at him. He smiled back.
“Is everyone present?” Chiron asked
“Yes everyone’s here except Malcolm. He had fever so I brought him to the infirmary.” Annabeth said
“As we all know Olympus has been partially destroyed last year. Annabeth here has been assigned to redecorate Olympus.” He said as some of the campers cheered for Annabeth. “Yesterday” he continued “Athena sent me an Iris message telling me that she wants Annabeth to stay there for a few weeks. We will have a farewell party for her today since we won’t be seeing her for awhile.” Chiron said
After his speech we all left to the Big House. Calliste, Tabitha and I went to Chelsea’s cabin to find something to wear for the farewell party.
“How did you get all of this stuff?” Calliste asked as we saw her wardrobe full of clothes
“I got Connor and Travis to get me stuff when they get out of camp.” She replied with a smirk on her face
“Oh! But I thought we aren’t allowed to get out of the camp?” Tabitha said
“But we can sneak out of camp.” Chelsea replied as she handed us hundreds of clothes to wear. I got a blouse and pants since a farewell party didn't seem so formal. Calliste got a black long sleeved shirt and some shorts.
"So you guys ready?" I asked
"Yeah!" They all said in unison
“I hope its fun!” Calliste said. Even when we were in school she loved going to parties.
We all started to go to the Big House for the party. Once we arrived Calliste excused herself to get punch.
"Guys I'll be back I'll just get some punch." Calliste said
"OK." I replied
