( y/n ) stood in line as she listened to the principal ramble for the past 30 minutes. she didn't bother listening as all she concentrated on was preventing her legs from disfunctioning.

when your legs don't work like they used to before.

her eyes lit up for a single moment as she watched in glee the teacher reminding the principal that class was near.

students dispersed to their own respectice classrooms as so did the girl.

she took steady steps up the staircase, repeating a song in her head. as soon as she was turning to meet to second set of stairs, her eyes caught teddy jin harshly grabbing the already red ears of a students, using them to move his head like some type of drone.

she watched as teddy jin gave the humiliated student a permanent marker, telling him to do something from the way he spoke.

" teddy? what are you doing? " ( y/n ) called out the moment teddy jin's fist collided with the student's face.

both teddy and ( y/n )'s eyes widened as they made eye contact.

her eyebrows furrowed as she pursed her lips, deciding to ignore teddy jin and instead went to follow the student that quickly ran off after getting punched in the face by teddy.

she was too late as a full X mark had already been drawn on the back of gray yeon's uniform.

she speed-walked over to them, grabbing the marker from the red-nosed student.

gray grabbed the student's collar, harshly lifting him as he shot a glare straight into his skull.

the student sobbed, blood continuing to pour down his nose. " i'm sorry..i'm so sorry.. " he cried, his entire body shaking.

" gray, stop. it's teddy jin's fault. "
( y/n ) intervened, throwing the marker away in a random direction, praying it didn't hit anyone.

gray turned his head around to look for the man in question, his teeth grinding.

gray didn't let go of the student, " i.. i didn't have any other choice.."

this caused a fury of emotions to erupt from gray, " what..? you had no other choice? " gray let go of the student's collar, deciding that the student was not worth talking to.

" what..what was i supposed to do? that freak is an insane sadist.. " the male reasoned, his head lowering in shame.

( y/n ) decided to keep her mouth shut, knowing the next words she wanted to speak would only worsen gray's mood.

" so, that lets you do despicable things to a stranger's back? in a pathetic attempt to preserve your body from pain? you pathetic lowlife, if you're gonna run away, carry that weight yourself. don't rope other people into your shit. " gray spoke, his voice lowering.

( y/n ) had her own opinions about gray's words.

even if she did understand gray's reasoning, she also understood the other boy's reasoning.

not everyone had the courage to fight against something they know they could never fight back against, hopelessness and fear is a painful mix, no matter how brave and courageous you are.
