do you guys prefer the second pov or is the third pov better?
(second pov refers to yn as "you" while third pov refers to yn as yn. ex: you ran, ( y/n ) ran)
————-
"is this a joke?" god, you wished it was. you wished that it was nothing but a sick joked being played on you.
"No, I don't think so. I thought of doing this as a joke at first, but it seems I can't play that little lie seeing as she's bleeding quite a lot." He hums, almost singing out his words. A grin displayed on his cheeks, teeth showing as he stares at the unmoving body of Ha-neul.
"Where are you? What do you want?" the questions flow out your mouth as you stomp out of the building in a frenzy, ignoring the black haired male that tried to call for your attention.
"i think the park near the lake? the place where you and her hung around yesterday." he answers, directly implying that he had been following you.
a shiver runs up your spine as you process the information and sprint to the location, calm breathing turning into laboured ones as worst case scenarios fill your senses
once the park is in sight, you see the clear silhouette of a group, each member holding a bat.
you grit your teeth and run towards them, your mind directly set on avoiding a full fight and just getting ha-neul to safety. that was all that clouded your mind.
they scream at you, hands gripped on wooden and metal bats raised in the air to prepare a land on you. you dodge a number, a few barely scraping your skin.
you dont bother looking for the face that belonged to the caller on your phone, your eyes shifting around to look for ha-neul.
you dodge and searched, sometimes getting hit, but you pay it no mind. you'll be okay.
you'll be okay
ha-neul will be okay
right?
you finally find her, but you heart sinks further when she's on the floor, blood seeping from her head. she doesnt move, she doesnt even lift a single finger.
here eyes are dull, barely a spark of life in them.
you ignore it and quickly pick up her body.
but before you could run away, you feel a metal bad come in contact with your back. you feel a sharp pain jolt down from your spine and it travels throughout your whole body.
your world fills with black dots that soon swallow your whole vision.
" ( y/n )! "
———————————
you wake up with a bolt.
shocks of pain travel throughout your body as you grunt at the feeling, the cold ac of the room not helping you.
you look around the unfamiliar room, neutral colours painted the whole place. an iv is connected connected to your arm, the tape perfectly securing the needle.
you take a moment to calm down, calming your breaths as your grip at your chest.
you were in the hospital, so that would mean that ha-neul has also been taken to safety.
the door swings open with a creak, a sleep deprived looking aera walking in. he glances over to your direction and sighs, "you're finally awake."
"...'finally'?"
"you've been asleep for a whole day."
you widen your eyes in surprise not sure how to respond. sure the sleep did feel refreshing, but it didnt feel that long.
"oh. how's ha-neul?"
he freezes in his place, eye averting from yours.
"she..she couldn't make it."
"what...?"
————————————
ha-neul didn't survive the injury to her head.
she was diagnosed with Penetrating Traumatic Brain Injury and upon arrival, she had already passed on.
you had a few wounds and stitches. you considered yourself lucky for not having any fractured bones at all.
aera told you he was the one who pulled you and ha-neul out of the mess.
the past few days have felt dull. you werent sure what you were doing, you werent sure what to do at all.
you'd spend the most of your day with her and doing whatever she wanted to.
you never really thought about doing anything since you were discharged and now you stood in the middle of your room, not sure on what to do next.
god, you felt lost.
at first, the fact that she was gone didn't settle in.
but now that you're out of distractions, reality just keeps slapping you in the face.
when you went out for a walk, the elderly would ask you about 'your brown haired friend'
when you went to school covered in patches of band-aid, everyone would constantly whisper and talk about it, only further reminding you.
it hurt you to have to tell the grandmas and grandpas that the sweet girl who they enjoyed telling stories to was gone.
it hurt that no one was really there to talk to you about gossips in the middle of walking towards the bathrooms in the hallway.
no one was there to help you do the paperwork
no one was there to feed the ducks at the lake with you.
sometimes in the morning, you'd walk the opposite way to school and towards her house only to realise that she wasn't even there anymore in the middle of the walk.
sometimes, you'd buy packs of food that was enough for two, only to realise that she wasn't there to eat with you.
sometimes, you'd walk towards the hallway, expecting to see her standing in the middle as she always has just to wait for you.
sometimes, you'd stay in the gym longer, waiting for her to arrive so you'd walk home together just to have aera remind you that she wasn't coming.
the kids from the orphanage would visit the neighbourhood and ask about where she went.
it was slap after slap after slap after slap
and then her funeral ceremony came along.
you attended in the clothes she loved seeing you in.
and when it was your turn to see her in the casket, it took everything in you not to cry.
she looked like she was about to wake up any second.
and it didnt help with the fact that you missed her everyday.
