"what's with their faces...?"
"did the food suck?"
ben and alex' voices make it's way to your attention. you turn to look at them, waving them as a greeting and their quick to what caused the tense faces.
"uh..gray knocked phillip out in the cafeteria.."
ben laughs loudly at that, comical tears streaming out of his eyes as he slaps his stomach. "good, good! we gotta hear the whole story in detail! gerard's at the rooftop. let's all go up and talk—"
"i'll be in class." gray interjects, eyes cast downward and sunken
"oh..."
gray walks ahead, shoulders sunk.
you look at him with worry, itching to go and comfort him, but you weren't exactly sure what to comfort him about. and he seemed like he wanted to be left alone all at the same time.
"hey, ben..is it just me, or did gray look really sad just now?" alex speaks up.
"yeah, i saw it too. if someone like me noticed it..it's kinda serious."
"he mentioned something before about not going on rooftops..." you all turn to eugene, "back then, he looked kinda sad too.."
"hmm..ben, you should go talk to him. you know you're good at it." alex go grins
they both share looks, and for a moment, you swear they both look at you too.
the glimmer of a star appears in ben's eyes, "yeah...i'll have to step up..as the one who talked gogo out of his..moody adolescence!" he proudly exclaims, pumping a fist in the air as alex bursts into embarrassment
"pfft!—"
alex turns to you, "hey..! you laughed just now, didn't you!" he fumes, pointing an accusing finger at you.
you immediately clear your throat and shake your head. "i didn't laugh. i don't know what you're talking about."
"yes, you know. you totally laughed..!" alex chases after you, and you're quick to bolt down the hallway as ben and eugene watch the two of you chase each other, small laughter leaving their lips.
