*Jay's POV*

I had brought the boy to the district and was now on my way to the hospital.
Right now I was waiting at a red light and was a bit annoyed because I needed to drive behind a truck so I decided that it was appropriate to turn on the sirens.
Suddenly everyone moved out of my way and I was at the hospital in no time.
"Hey Maggie. Do you know where Erin is?" I looked around because she wasn't in the waiting area.
"Will took her upstairs to the intensive care unit because that is where Upton is going to be." She said and than needed to leave because a new patient was coming.
"Hey brother." Will was already in the elevator.
"Upton is still in surgery." He informed me and than jumped out of the elevator.
"Jay." Erin fell into my arms when she saw me.
"Hey babe." I gave her a kiss and saw that her clothes were full of blood.
"It's Hailey's." She had seen my look.
"That's good. But how are you, Erin?" You could tell that she had cried.
"Been better. Hailey flatlined twice in the ambo and they said they weren't sure if she's going to make it. I'm sorry for leaving you at the scene, Jay." She wrapped her arms around my chest and we stayed in this position for a while. I stroked your back until I noticed she was slowly calming down and then we sat down because we were in the way of everyone.
"That was fine. You were looking out for your partner and I got the boy handled. If I remember it right the first thing they teach you at the academy is to look out for your partner and so you did." I gave her a gently kiss on the head and she rested her head at my shoulder.

*Erin's POV*

"I gotta go and call Grace's teacher because they were probably a bit confused why we left in such a hurry and never came back." I got up and Jay let go of my hand.
"Hi this is Erin. I'm really sorry that we needed to leave you so quickly and didn't end the talk to the class. But the call that we both got came from my partner and she needed help." I explained and she said that it was fine and that it showed the kids that the police is there for them even if they're doing something else.
"I'm sorry we won't be back today because we're in the hospital right now because my partner is in surgery and I won't leave her here." She understood that too and I ended the call.
"Everything solved." I sat down next to Jay again.
"Do you wanna go back to the district? I mean I'm going to wait for her but you don't need to sit here." Jay shook his head.
"No. I'm staying with you." He squeezed my hand and I was glad that he didn't leave me.
We were waiting a few more hours till Will walked up the hallway.
"She is alive. She is awake. You guys can go see her if you want." He said and I got up.
"You go see her. I need to talk to Will for a second." I gave him a quick kiss and than I walked into Hailey's room.
"Hey partner." I stood next to her bed.
"Well, one is nowhere safe from you, huh?" She looked at me and chuckled.
"If you want me to go I can do that." I turned away and grinned.
"All jokes aside, how are you?" She looked like she was played ruff.
"Well. You know. I got shot three times and that's exactly how I feel." She made a face.
"Yeah I know. Laying in a hospital bed isn't good at all. Coincidentally, my husband's brother happens to be a doctor, so he could certainly do something about your pain reliever dose." I raised an eyebrow.
"It's okay. The pain is not that bad." She waved it off.
