I had seen Harry in the halls every so often not able to talk to him as much as I preferred since our schedules were completely opposite of each other's. The day had come and it was the first task of the tournament. I had changed into some jeans and an old t-shirt from high school before I pulled a hoodie on. Herms had invited me to sit next to her so I wasn't stuck with Draco and Crabbe. I grabbed my wand before walking out of my room and mumbling a spell to lock it. I have made it my goal to perform small charms whenever I could because I wanted to become more and more comfortable with magic. As I walked into the common room I walked past Draco who stuck his foot out causing me to stumble a bit but much to his dismay I didn't fall on my face. I stood back up taking a deep breath and turned around before shoving him against the wall.
"Draco. I played high school soccer. You'll have to try better than that." I mumbled. "Also might wanna go see Madam Pomfrey about that cut above your eye, looks deep." I scoffed as I walked towards the door and out into the hallway. I walked quickly towards the Gryffindor common room to wait for Hermione and Ron who even though was mad at Harry we knew he's support him until the end. I leaned against the wall my hands clenched in my hoodie pocket as I waited. Hermione and Ron came out a few minutes later and we made our way to the stands.
"Ron? Are you and Harry talking yet?" I asked
"Nope." He mumbled his eyes straight forward.
"Ron do you really truly believe that he put his name in there? Your brothers couldn't even succeed. I love Harry but that doesn't mean he's smart enough to get past that age line."
"Maybe he asked someone to do it for him."
"Ronald Weasley. Knock it off. You and I both know the only friends he has are you two, your brothers, Ginny and me. Focus less on your hatred for Harry right now and more on the fact that you and Herms over here haven't gone on a date yet."
"Indie." He glared.
"She's right Ron. He needs his best friend. Please stop fighting and talk to him after the task." Hermione begged.
Ron rolled his eyes and shoved his hands in his pockets as we walked up the stairs and towards some empty seats. We sat down and Ron ignored my looks while Hermione fidgeted.
"Is it that obvious?" She whispered to me.
"That you two like each other? Yes!" I responded loud enough for only her to hear. "I noticed it the first night I met you."
A blush crept up on her cheeks and she turned back towards the playing field in front of us.
"Do you guys know what the task is?" I asked her as the sounds of George and Fred became louder.
"TIME IS NOW TO PLACE YOUR BETS ON WHOS GONNA WIN!" George yelled.
"Dragons." She said rolling her eyes at them as they came to stand behind us.
"DRAGONS!? Hermione! He can't do that!! That could kill him!" I said standing up quickly to go find him. She grabbed my hand and pulled me back down.
"Indie, he said it multiple times he can't get out of it.. he's stuck competing. He's got a plan just be patient with him." She pleaded squeezing my hand in hers.
Within minutes Dumbledore announced the first task was going to begin at the sound of the bell. First went Cedric who was a Hufflepuff, I had run into him a few times but never really formed any type of friendship. Second was Fleur from Beauxbatons a beautiful blonde with a French accent no one and I mean no one was able to understand easily. Third was Victor from Durmstrang, I paid a bit more attention to him while he attempted to retrieve the egg mainly do to the fact that I wanted to keep my mind off Harry and the risk of him getting hurt and well.. Viktor was easy on the eyes.
Fred and George could be heard screaming behind me causing me to chuckle slightly at their excitement. I turned around to give them a smile and Fred winked at me. A blushed crept up my cheeks causing me to quickly turn around as screams erupted from the crowd meaning Viktor had successfully retrieved the egg. My body froze as I heard Dumbledore call Harry's name to compete next. I let go of Hermione's hand.
"Herms.. I can't do this, I can't watch him. I have to go." I said hugging her quickly. I turned around to say goodbye to the twins, I stepped up on the bench so I was close enough for them to hear.
"I wanted to say goodbye, I'm going back to my common room. I can't watch Harry compete knowing he might get hurt. That scares me."
Fred frowned George was talking with a girl next to him.
"Will you tell George I'll see him later?" I asked stepping back down from the bench. I turned back to give hermione a small wave when arms wrapped around my neck from behind me and the familiar scent of Fred's cologne engulfed me. I felt him pull me back to his chest and rest his head on my shoulder.
"I know you'll hate yourself if you don't stay." He said quietly. "I promise, I'll stand right here with you the whole time."
I turned my head to look back at him his face mere inches from mine. I swallowed and nodded slowly bringing my arms up to hold onto his arms. Hermione smiled at me and looked forward as Fred held me in his arms. I relaxed in his touch and we watched Harry as he attempted to retrieve the egg without injury. He conjured his broom and before I knew it vanished, the Hungarian Horntail disappearing after him my body tensed and I squeezed Fred's arms.
"It's okay." He whispered softly. "He's okay, I know it." He reassured causing me to nod hesitantly.
Everyone waited for a few minutes my mind already having convinced me he was dead until he came flying back into the enclosure the dragon hot on his heals but he did it. The crowd cheered excitedly Fred's arms unwrapping from my neck causing my stomach to drop. I cheered loudly with the crowd.Harry Potter captured the golden egg.
