3rd Person POV :
Hufflepuff had already lost the match to Ravenclaw, and they did grieve it. But they got something to celebrate when (Y/N) had finally let go of her crutches around Christmas. Christmas holidays had lifted their sprits and they were back to their cheerful selves when they returned to Hogwarts.
After that, Ravenclaw had lost the match to the Slytherins. At last, the next day was the day for the Gryffindor v Ravenclaw match.
Cedric and Cho were still going good, despite the occasional fights. Alex and (Y/N) were still best friends. And Katie and Alex were still pining after each other. After several dates, Jessica and Oliver had fallen madly in love with each other and Terrence and Dalton took their relationship to the next level, becoming boyfriends.
"You know, I think there is a reason we are best friends." Alex muttered sleepily, laying on her lap in the common room couch.
"And what would that be?" She asked, humoring him.
"Everyone's love life is going good, except ours."
"You don't get to say that, when you and Katie are literally eye fuc-"
"Don't complete the sentence!"
"Well, it's the truth" she shrugged.
"She doesn't like me!" he whined.
"Go tell that to a first year who will believe you!"
"Hey-"
"-But on second thoughts, don't do that because even they wouldn't believe you as they can see the oblivious idiots you are. "
"Well then, what about your golden boy, if you say I am oblivious?"
"What about him? He likes Cho and he is clear about it."
"But he is oblivious about loving you?"
"He doesn't love me!"
"And you say I am oblivious?"
"Shut it, Messson!"
"Fine, why don't we talk about something else?" he negotiated "Who do you think will win the match tomorrow? Gryffindor or Ravenclaw?"
"Gryffindor, of course!"
"Yes. Because they have wonder- boy, Potter!"
"No. Harry is a good seeker, yes. But my reason isn't him."
"Well, let us hear your reasoning then."
"This is Oliver's final year and Gryffindor hasn't won the past six years. You don't know Oliver like I do. He is determined to win this, so he sure will. And he has a good team."
"Enough fangirling over him." He whined again
"I am just stating the truth, Al"
"Fine!" He huffed and she laughed. "But then, we had a good team too! Why didn't we win?"
"Well, you didn't have me!" she stated and they laughed.

Cedric entered the common room with a frown on his face which deepened once he saw Alex and (Y/N) laying beside each other and laughing.
He uncertainly walked towards her. Alex was the first to notice him and give a warm smile.
"Hey mate!"
Cedric returned his smile, but not as warmly as him. Then, he turned to look at (Y/N) and asked if he could speak to her alone. She looked at Alex who nodded in encouragement.
"Just don't kidnap her, alright? I'll miss her too much for that!" He told Cedric and winked at (Y/N) suggestively, as she and Cedric were about to get into his dorm, alone.
She just laughed and pecked his cheek, before she started walking with Cedric, unaware of the jealousy he was feeling.
"I just don' know what to do!" Cedric groaned, once he entered the dorm.
"What happened?" She asked, concerned.
"We fought again." He confessed.
"I thought you were going good?"
"We are. But we just start fighting over something silly which quickly turns into a bigger argument about something entirely different!"
"I really don't know what to do Ced. I've never been in a relationship, before."
"Just be there for me."
"That, I can do." She smiled softly looking at him, and he genuinely returned it.
That night, she laid with Cedric on his bed after a long time. Just like they used to do when they were kids and one of them had a nightmare, she spooned him from behind, gently running her fingers through his hair. She knew he was another girl's boyfriend but her heart didn't understand that as it started beating erratically once he laid next to her. And to be honest, she didn't care. He didn't have a shirt on and she could feel the warmth of his body as she wrapped an arm around his waist. Slowly, Cedric fall under the soothing touches of his 'best friend'.
She didn't expect him to turn around and wrap an arm around her waist, pulling her closer in his sleep. He hugged her tight, burying his face in the crook of her neck. She thought if he hugged her any closer, she'd suffocate but that - the moment- was perfect. His body, a welcoming weight on hers, his breath tickling her neck and his soft breathing and steady heartbeat which she could feel, slowly lulled her to sleep.
When Alex entered the dorm for sleeping, he saw his best friend and Cedric, asleep in each other's arms. He smiled softly and muttered a "definitely made for each other", before putting a blanket over them and pulling the posters of the bed down.

When (Y/N) woke up in the morning, she couldn't recognize where she was for a second. Then, the memories of the night came crashing down on her mind, and her heart started beating in a dangerously high speed as she looked at their position. Legs tangled, fingers of one hand intertwined, his body under hers and his other hand around her waist while hers rested on his chest. As she tried to get up, he pulled her closer, nuzzling his face in her shoulders.
"Ced!" She shook him awake.
"I love you shorty" he said in his morning voice, deep and gravelly, sending dozens of butterflies through her stomach, making it do back flips as his breath ticked her neck and her eyes widened. "Just let me sleep, will you?"
She deflated. That was what it was. Nothing more.
"Shut up, you bloody heart!" Her mind snapped.
"Dear heart, why him?" She asked her heart.
But her heart replied to both her and her mind with steady beats, getting it's point to them clearly. "It was the queen there, and it would decide who was best for her."
"Ced, It's qudditch today! Come on! Let's go."
"Alright, alright! Let's go." So they got ready and walked to the match together, without the knowledge of what was about to come.
