FEW DAYS LATER

The morning at The Burrow began with the enticing aroma of freshly baked bread and sizzling bacon wafting through the air. Sunlight streamed through the mismatched windows, casting a warm glow over the cozy kitchen. The Weasley household was already abuzz with activity; Molly Weasley hummed softly as she tended to the stove, while Arthur Weasley sat at the table, engrossed in the Daily Prophet. The younger Weasleys chatted animatedly, their laughter filling the room.

As (Y/N) descended the creaky staircase, she was greeted by the sight of this bustling family scene. A soft smile tugged at her lips, a sense of warmth and belonging washing over her.

"Good morning, dear!" Molly called out, her face lighting up as she spotted (Y/N). "I hope you slept well. Come, have a seat. Breakfast is almost ready."

"Good morning, Mrs. Weasley," (Y/N) replied, her voice tinged with gratitude. "I slept wonderfully, thank you."

Taking a seat between Ginny and Ron, (Y/N) couldn't help but feel the comforting embrace of the Weasley family's hospitality. Fred and George exchanged mischievous glances from across the table, remembering how they stayed up testing more products.

"Sleep well, did you?" Fred teased, a playful smirk on his face.

"Not too tired from last night's adventures, I hope," George added, winking conspiratorially.

A blush crept up (Y/N)'s cheeks, but before she could respond, Molly's stern voice intervened.

"Fred, George, that's enough," she scolded, though her eyes twinkled with affection. "Let the girl eat in peace."

The morning continued with lively conversation, the Weasleys' infectious energy gradually lifting (Y/N)'s spirits. After breakfast, as the family dispersed to attend to their various chores, (Y/N) found herself alone in the cozy living room. Her thoughts drifted to Cedric, the weight of their unresolved issues pressing heavily on her heart.

A soft tapping at the window pulled her from her reverie. Turning, she saw a familiar owl perched on the sill, a letter tied to its leg. Her heart leaped as she recognized Alex's owl, Zephyr. Quickly, she opened the window, allowing the owl to hop inside.

"Hey, Zeph," she murmured, gently untieing the letter. "Got something for me?"

The owl hooted softly in response before taking off again. With a mix of anticipation and apprehension, (Y/N) unfolded the parchment.

Dear (Y/N),

I hope this letter finds you well. I haven't heard from you in a while, and I'm starting to get a bit worried. Where have you been hiding? Mum and I have been talking, and we'd love for you to come stay with us for a few days during the holidays. It's been ages there's so much I want to ask and tell you.

Please write back soon and let me know when you can come over. Mum's already planning to make your favorite treacle tart.

Take care, and remember, you're not alone in this.

Love,

Alex

She laughed at the how dramatic he was being, and decided to respond to his letter some time later.

The days at The Burrow had passed in a blur of warmth and laughter. The Weasleys, in their usual chaotic but endearing manner, made (Y/N) feel like she belonged. Whether it was helping Molly with the dishes, playing a casual game of Quidditch in the backyard, or simply sitting with Ginny and talking about everything and nothing, the heaviness in her chest seemed to ease just a little.

But as the sun dipped below the horizon, a sense of longing crept into her heart. No matter how much love surrounded her, there was still a missing piece—her mother.

It was almost dinner time when the familiar tap, tap, tap of an owl at the window made her freeze. Her heart skipped a beat as she turned, recognizing the sleek black owl perched on the sill.

Mum's owl.

She rushed forward, her fingers trembling slightly as she untied the letter. The owl gave her an affectionate nudge before taking off into the dusky sky.

Taking a deep breath, she unfolded the parchment.

My Dearest (Y/N),

I hope this letter reaches you safely, love. I know I promised to be home by the time you got back from Hogwarts, but things are a bit more complicated than I expected. The mission is taking longer than we thought, and I can't leave just yet.

I hate that I'm not there with you. You have no idea how much I wish I could just drop everything and come home, hug you, and make you your favorite dinner. But I need you to be strong for just a little while longer. I promise I'll be home soon.

I know you might be feeling a little lost right now, especially with Cedric. Sweetheart, I know how much he means to you. Sometimes, people mess up, and sometimes, we need space to figure out what we really want. Whatever happens, just remember you are never alone. You have people who love you—Alex, the Weasleys, and yes, even Cedric, in his own way.

I also heard from the Diggorys that they were expecting you for the holidays. I understand if you needed to be somewhere else for now, but make sure you don't shut people out completely, okay?

抖阴社区 back soon and let me know how you're doing. I love you more than all the stars in the sky.

With all my love,
Mum

(Y/N) swallowed hard, blinking rapidly to push back the tears threatening to spill. She read the letter again, this time slower, taking in every word. Her mother always knew exactly what to say, even when she wasn't physically there.

A soft knock at the door startled her. She quickly wiped her eyes and turned to see Ginny peeking in.

"Dinner's ready," Ginny said gently, eyeing the letter in (Y/N)'s hands. "Everything okay?"

(Y/N) took a deep breath and nodded. "Yeah. Just... Mum's still away on her mission. She'll be back soon, though."

Ginny stepped inside and wrapped an arm around her shoulders, giving her a reassuring squeeze. "She'll come back before you know it. And until then, you've got all of us here."

(Y/N) smiled, grateful beyond words. "Thanks, Gin."

"Anytime." Ginny grinned. "Now, come on before Fred and George eat everything."

With one last glance at her mother's letter, (Y/N) carefully folded it and placed it safely in her trunk. She wasn't sure what the next few days would bring, but at least she knew she had people who cared.

And that was enough, for now.
