Alone (Jiyoo)

"WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?!" I hear a voice yell as the front door closed harshly. Minji and I both look in the direction of the woman's voice and see her MOTHER?! Minji quickly gets off my lap and covers her chest with her hands. I quickly button up my pants and try to remain calm. I look over at Minji and see her eyes forming tears. I hold her hand. "So is no one going to answer my question?!" Her mother says now walking towards us. "Um..." Is all I could say. Her mother raises her eyebrows at us waiting for a better response. "I'm sorry mom..." Minji says and fast walks to her room. I watch as she leaves me with her...mom.

I stand up and start to head upstairs with Minji to see if she is alright. "Kim Yoohyeon." I hear her mother say and I turn around to look at her. "Sit." She says and I obey. Is she going to kill me?! Probably I mean...she did catch me and her daughter.

"Do you like Kim Minji?" She asks calmly. I clear my throat, "Um...no of course not. We are just friends..." I say lowly. She sighs. "Friends don't do that...nor do friends look at their other friends the way you look at Minji." Her mother says now crossing her arms. "Uh, what do you mean?" I chuckle nervously. "Yoohyeon...from the day Minji brought you here, I saw the way you look at her and the way you act around her." She says and now I'm scared because she is right. "I also see the way she looks at you. She looks at you with admiration and...love." Her mother says. "You don't have to lie to me." Her mother says with a warm smile. Tears filled my eyes. "Yes...I do love her." I say with a tear rolling down. "I'm sorry that I have feelings for your daughter, feelings that surpasses friendship feelings." I say with another year rolling down. "Why are you sorry for loving Minji?" She asks me. "Because...you probably won't accept us. Not a lot of parents accept their children for who they are..." I say wiping away tears.

She chuckles at me and I frown. "Yoohyeon...it's 2021! Of course I accept you two together!" She pats my shoulder. "Hey did you think I wouldn't accept you two together?!" Her mother says playfully hitting my shoulder. "BEcause, you yelled when you walked in on...us..." I sniffle. "Well of course I yelled! To get y'all's attention! Also I just walked in on my daughter and her "friend" of course I'm going to be shocked! I wasn't mad though! But...for future purposes...do NOT do it on the couch or anywhere, where I can see!" She sighs while rubbing her forehead. "You are allowing us to do it?!" I asked shocked. "NOT OFTEN THOUGH! My daughter is basically an adult already and is going to do adult things, so I understand her needs." Her mother says while looking at Minji picture frame. I look and see a small child smiling widely as she takes a picture with a rabbit mascot.

"Has she always liked rabbits?" I ask her mother. "Yes..." Her mother says with her voice breaking slightly. I look at her and see her mother crying. I go to her mother and softly hug her. "She is growing up..." She says while she cries into my shoulder. "She will eventually leave me, and I'll be alone." Her mother cries. I began to cry too. "Omma..." I hear a soft voice call from the staircase. Her mother and I look at Minji who was crying also.

Minji comes and hugs her mother. "You won't be alone!" Minji says into her mom's shoulder. "In the house I'll be alone but in the heart...of course not. My sweet daughter Minji, you'll always be in my heart. I love you no matter what! You know that right?!" Her mother says while hugging her back. "Yes...I love you too mom!" Minji says crying even harder.

I'm sitting down watching the mother daughter love bond. I miss you mom. They stop hugging and look at me.

"Get over here!" Her mom says gesturing me to join the hug. I smile and go into the hug.
