Dipper POV
After the hug, there was a short awkward silence. Of course because it was an awkward silence, it didn't feel short.
Finally Pacifica spoke up and asked "Can I pay you to pretend that never happened?" However, it was obvious to tell that she liked the hug. And I'm not going to say that I didn't enjoy it.
"Ha" I begin "no, some things money can't solve." I say
She laughs and... blushes? Oh no. Pacifica Northwest likes me! The worst part is, I kind of like her back. But what about Wendy?
I decide to push the thought out of my mind, and continue with the reason I came.
Pacifica and I head back into the house to tell her parents that we caught the ghost.
"Looks like you really found the right man for the job, Pacifica." Her dad begins
"We can't thank you enough" Mrs.Northwest says as a butler shakes my hand. "That's enough." The butler stops instantly.
I begin to walk out of the garden, but am stopped by the sound of Pacifica's voice.
"Leaving already? You are at the worlds best party, dummy." She says
"I'd love to stay," I begin "but I have a category ten ghost to dispose of." I say, looking at her while walking. Of course I run into a cement column. I decide to play it cool.
We both laugh, and I repeat "a category ten."
As I'm walking away, I tell myself "Call me crazy, but maybe she's not so bad after all." The ghost starts laughing.
"Why are you laughing, man, I defeated you?" I ask
"You remind me of me 150 years ago..." He begins
"What do you mean?" I ask
"150 years ago this day, I too had faith in the Northwest's..."
He tells me an interesting story about the lumberjacks building the Northwest Mansion because they were promised access to the party each year. He said that the Northwest's had promised that everyone was to be welcomed to the party. Once the house was done being built, the Northwest's shut out the townsfolk and laughed at them for believing their lie.
"You promised, Northwest's" the ghost recalled saying. However, mudslides began now that all of the nearby trees were a part of the mansion. One of the lumberjack's axes was lodged in a stone, and carried by the mudslide. The ghost said that the rock with the axe hit something, and the axe went flying into his skull.
"So I said with final breath, 150 years I'll return from death. And if the gates are still closed to the town, wealthy blood with stain the ground; A curse passed on until this day."
"Wait, so the Northwest's knew this haunting was coming? And they tricked me into helping them avoid ghostly justice? I'll be right back."
I run to the entrance of their house, leaving the mirror behind. I open the doors and yell "Northwests! You've got some explaining to do!"
Pacifica runs over to me, excited. "Dipper! You came back!" She says
"You lied to me! All of you did! All you had to do was let the townsfolk into the party and you could've broken the curse. But you made me do your dirty work instead." I finish
Mr. Northwest bends down. "Look at who you're talking to, boy. I'm hosting a party for the most powerful people in the world. Do you think they'd come here if they had to rub elbows with your kind?" He asks
"My kind?!" I look towards Pacifica "I was right about you all along. You're just as bad as your parents. Another link in the worlds worst chain!"
"I'm sorry! They made me. I should've told you but-" Mr. Northwest rung a bell, and she became silent.
I walk out, flustered, but still determined to get rid of the ghost. I grab the mirror, then walk to a nearby stump. On my way, I grab some candles from the Northwest's mansion. I need them for my exorcism, but it still feels good to take something from them.
"Stupid Northwest's." I say to myself "Making me do their exorcism for them. Exodus demonus. Spookus scarus. Aintafriadus noghostus."
"Dipper," the ghost cuts me off "Dipper, please let me get my vengeance on the Northwest's. You hate them as much as I."
"Look, I feel you, man. It's just, my sister's in there and you seem a little unstable, man." I reply
"Ok, but may these sad lumber eyes gaze upon the trees one final time?" He asks
"Uh, sure." I say "Go nuts man" and I turn the mirror around so he can look at the few pinetrees left.
He begins laughing, and I know I made a mistake. The mirror gets really hot. I drop it in shock. It then shatters and the ghost begins advancing towards the mansion again.
"Haha! Yes! Vengeance!" Is all I hear the ghost say before he floats back into the house.
"Oh no!" I say "Mabel!"
