Next week's update might not show up, I have exams coming up so I can't come online much. And unfortunately, I'm having writer's block so I have to go back to my previous update schedule.

Long dark haired creatures circled us, giving no way for us to escape. Their glowing eyes looked more visible in the dark, lighting up their skull of a face. One in particular, had our breaths taken away in fear.

The queen growled lowly at us, her pack checking the cubs. The queen locked eyes with me, and the way her flaming orbs contrasted against her empty sockets had me shivering.

"Im.. Impossible..", Neptune muttered, overwhelmed. I can partially understand his issue. He couldn't hear their footsteps nor their breathing, as a cat beastman his pride had been shattered into billions.

"T-They escaped a feline's sensitive hearing.. H-How..?", alright I know even I want to know the fucking answer but please! I'm not getting killed and sending myself into the afterlife right when I was starting to get used to this place!

The alpha barked thrice, and along that three Nightmare Crawlers pounced towards us. "[Shield]!", Anastasia summoned a circular barrier around us, the dogs whack into them.

"Come up with a plan this instant! My shied has a limited time!", the fairy hissed, and the remaining four including me gathered together. "This wasn't supposed to happen! I may be a tanker but this is overwhelming even for me!", Draven voiced, cautiously looking at the dogs.

"Since they bypassed Neptune then that means they could have the same skill as the cubs or a sound canceling skill.", Nathaira theorized, her whip positioned in front of her. "Or we were just too focused on the cubs..", I stated, drawing my arrows to the queen.

"Ugh! My lightning barrier won't hold on for much longer! Laurier, Luminesce, Alistair! What affinity do you have?", I thought of my magic, thinking about my second. "I only have flame!", the half minotaur grunted, alarmed by the sudden crack appearing between us.

".. Flame and dark ether.", I glanced at Neptune through my peripheral vision, the others shocked by his words. Suddenly an idea struck inside my head, with me grinning at how reckless I could get.

"Anastasia, I have a plan, but I need you to not freak out.", the silence continued, therefore I took it as she was considering. "I need you to lower the barrier when I say so, so I need your tru-"

"Are you out of your mind?! I may be a little reckless but that is too dangerous!", Nathaira butted in, and I bet her tongue was slithering out her mouth restlessly. "Any other ideas then?", I inquired, coating my bow with dark ether.

"...", I rolled my eyes at the cliche silence, of course she only butted in with no idea. "Alright.. I give my full trust in you Luminesce.", oh goodie! Then you're in a hell of a ride my friends~

I waited for the perfect moment, waiting for the right flicker.

Two..

"Now! [Sword Of Minerals: Vortex]!", five light turquoise swords shot above the lowered barrier, each of these guarding all five humanoids. "Lightning and flame have a higher chance of lowering their defense, so use your magic while I finish them!", I shouted while releasing my bowstring, the three arrows lodging into the ground.

Stunned, they took a few seconds to compose themselves before finally launching into the battle. I commanded the swords to protect our blindspots, while I focused on killing the dogs that got too close.

I lodged an arrow into the head of a dog, pulling the point out of them earning a howl. I coated the same arrow in crystal magic and lodged it deeper into the N.C. I noticed a shadow above me and jumped to the side, narrowly avoiding a pair of sharp claws.

'It seems like my blades only work when I focus on them, but they still do their job albeit not perfectly.'

I pulled my bowstrings and shot the crystal covered arrows at the dog. They managed to avoid it and came at me with an alarming speed. "Not on my watch! [Erupt]!", a flame geyser shot in front of me, burning the N.C into ashes.

I hurriedly grabbed a few of my arrows and heated their heads. "Suffer you dogs! [Crystalize].", I sneered at shot the arrows towards several N.Cs. A small patch of crystals bloomed near the arrow, the dogs visibly getting slower as they howled in pain.

"Thanks for the extra heat Draven!", I shouted too gleefully, lodging an arrow into a N.C's sockets. They let out an ear deafening screech, making me having trouble controlling my blades. I lodged another arrow by a hole near their side, shutting them up.

I looked up and noticed to flaming eyes in front of me, my breath hitching as shock pulsed in me. The queen howled and tried to slash me, however I managed to evade it by a millisecond. I sucked in a sharp breath, drawing my arrow only to realize the bag was empty.

'I must have used all of it!', I ground my teeth together, trying my best to dodge the alpha's relentless attacks. 'Shit! My stamina's depleting too fast and my mana is too little for me to cast another attack.', my best choice was to try and weaken her before she orders her minions to catch me.

Narrowly avoiding her maw, I shot a quick glance to the others and my already ragged breath hitched. Neptune was leaning onto Nathaira, both of them switching from defensive to offensive too often. Both of them looked exhausted, and by the looks of it they had spent too much mana.

Anastasia was stuck in a tree trying to electrocute the dogs that were continuously clawing their way up the trunk. She was using a low level lightning attack, and by her constant shivering the aftermath of using her support magic had decided to come to say hello.

Draven was swinging his claymore like a madman, trying to distance the dogs from him. I could see dark marks littering his exposed skin, a definite sign of their saliva coming in contact with him. He looked in pain, but couldn't rest with how the remaining N.Cs were mercilessly attacking him.

I tore my gaze from them, grabbing the queen's maw by her teeth before she got to munch on me. Her saliva dripped down her teeth, I heard the sizzle of her saliva right beside my ear where my head was at.

My palm burned as I yelled in pain, her saliva causing dark marks to trail down my arm. I gritted my teeth, trying to resist her strength as I struggled to push her back. Her paws had locked me into place, the alpha's weight stopping me from kicking her exposed stomach.

'Fuck! Shit shit shit! What do I do now?! I can't die! I have a life full of adventures to see! I have friends that won't leave me! I have a sister to come back to!', no matter how much strength I put in the alpha still had the one step ahead.

"Fuck!!", I screamed, her saliva had burned my arm, blood trickling down in some places. "Wynn!", I heard Neptune's distressed voice call out before it was replaced by a heart stopping scream. "Neptune! Get away from him! Neptune!", I tore my gaze from the alpha's maw to the others, my eyes widened at the horror.

Neptune was on the ground screaming, two Nightmare Crawlers trying to tear his arms apart. Nathaira was trying to get to him but was pushed back by more N.Cs. Draven had a N.C on his back, stomping his feet and twirling around to try and get the dog off.

"No.. No no no no! Neptune!", I screamed, my eyes watching my friend being in pain. His scream rang in my ears like a continuous whisper, chanting over and over again.

I can't let him die..

I have to move.

I have to save him!

"Then call out his name."

Call out his name..? Who? Who's name? Who?

WHO'S NAME?!

"Call out your instinct!"
