Kirito's POV:

I was sleeping so well until I felt a chill in the covers. I turned over to grab Asuna by her waist. Only I grabbed nothing.
"Asunaaaa" I whined, wanting her to come back to warm the bed. No reply.

"Asunaaaaaaaa" I dragged it out longer to annoy her into a response. Still no reply.

I sigh and finally open my eyes to get up and fetch her.

"Asuna?" I walk into the bathroom and she's not there. I opened the closet right next to the bathroom after thinking she was playing a game with me. She wasn't there either. Maybe she got room service for us? I pick up my phone and call her contact.

10 missed calls later and I began to worry a little. Too much time has passed for her to be getting room service. That's when I noticed...

Her small suitcase, which was next to my duffle bag, was gone. I called her a few more times and no answer. There's no way she broke up with me in my sleep right? Then again, I did rudely dismiss her early this morning, BUT THAT WAS BECAUSE I WAS SLEEPY! She knows how cranky I get when I'm tired! Right? Was she mad at me?

I called her phone yet again, pacing the room this time in worry.

"Hey, Asuna, I'm sorry about last night. I know I could've been more supportive of you. A false missing poster was shared and you're missing now, haha. Well, that's not funny but... call me back and let me know you're okay."

Where is that girl? I continued to pace until I spotted a note folded on our table.

My breath quickened, I'm terrified to see what it says. There's no way she left me a Dear John letter. We just got back together!

My hands were shaking, terribly afraid to open the letter. Ripping off the bandage, some relief came seeing as she didn't break up with me.

"Meet me there when you're ready?" I read to myself. She left a wad of money for me... oh god. Oh no no no no.
I packed my stuff quickly and checked out of the hotel. I'm surprised I didn't get in an accident with how fast I was driving to Asuna's house.

When I got to Asuna's. Mr. Yuuki was sitting at the stoop of the front doors. His head was buried in his hands.

My footsteps towards him gave me away. He looked at me but his frown deepened. What did I do?

"You mean... YOU DIDN'T GO WITH HER?!"

"Sir, I have no idea where Asuna is..."

"So you had nothing to do with Asuna escaping to America?"

"SHE'S IN AMERICA?!" I said just as shocked as he.

"Kazuto... I've driven my baby girl away and neither of us is there to protect her, to comfort her. I shouldn't have let it get this far." Mr. Yuuki put his head back in his hands while I settled next to him.

"Asuna wrote me a note before she left. She said she's got some growing up to do. She's one of the strongest women I know, I think we can be rest assured that for the time being, she will be okay." I smiled gently to myself, I managed to take some of my own worries away.

"Do you love my daughter because she helped you survive? Do you think if you guys had met outside the game her life would have gone to plan? That'd you'd still love her if it weren't for the face of death? Asuna never had the urge to travel to America, that was your influence. So tell me. Reassure me. Is this all for the better? Is she better off with you than any other millionaire I could wish for her to marry?" His voice was slightly muffled from contact with skin.

"Well... I can't explain it. I can't tell you if things would be the same or different if not for SAO. Or if she's better off without me. It wasn't Asuna surviving with me that made me fall, that wasn't it. When I met Asuna she was extremely stubborn. Very stand-offish. She took no crap from no one. She had such strength and yet a softness about her. Compassion and skill unmatched. I knew very quickly that I wanted to be with her. She's different from the rest with the capability of understanding me with no explanation. We just... click. She's smart and gifted. I knew I was going to America to try to further our lives, it was not my intention to influence Asuna. But know, I do wish to marry your daughter. I'll see to it that I provide her with a happy life. Asuna is my equal, so of course, she wants to hold her weight. That's just who she is without you asking her. Going to America wasn't influenced by me, it's a choice she made for herself that she would've made eventually..."

I felt a big hand swat my back. I looked to see a smile on Mr.Yuuki's face now.

"Very well son. I give you my blessing, I'll handle her mother. Make sure she's okay over there though. She will probably be landing late afternoon..."

My heart swelled and I blushed awkwardly. Why me?

"Thank you, sir".
