Kirito's POV:

I waited a month for Asuna to come back.

The gang decided to make online hangouts more frequent for the next 3 months for some tech research I'm doing.

Every time I fought a boss I would catch myself instinctively saying "SWITCH" when Asuna wasn't there. I also had to deal with the sympathetic looks and pats from everyone else who knew it was getting harder to be away from her this long.

I know she had been drowning herself in her work. I couldn't help but feel like it was her way of avoiding everyone. She would text me here and there, no calls or video chats had happened so I missed seeing her face and hearing her voice.

Everyone in the game had gotten rowdy playing a dumb board game.

I had gone to the porch of the cabin to sit in a rocking chair and escape the noise.

"What's wrong, Daddy?" Yui flew onto the arm of the chair.

"Ahhh nothing." I blew the question off.

"Is it Mommy? Is she coming back to see us here? I miss her." Yui frowned, clearly feeling what I was feeling too.

"Mommy's been busy. But that's ok. I miss her too".

I had done enough crying for a while so I put on a face for little Yui.

"Can I message her?" Yui squealed excitedly.

"I mean... go for it". I didn't want to tell Yui that Asuna might not answer.

"Ope. MOMMY REPLIED! She said she'd log on soon!" The tiny pixie flew in a cute loop de loop. I used my finger to pat her head.

For some reason, I got really nervous. I don't know why when I was the most comfortable around Asuna. She was so great it was intimidating sometimes.

Blue lights formed in front of me and Yui. Asuna was spawning in. I fixed my shirt and brushed my shoulder hoping I looked presentable to her.

"Hello, Yui!"

"Mommy!"

Asuna cupped Yui in her hands to embrace her gently.

"Hello, Kirito." She turned her attention to me.

"Hi, Asuna. Good to see you in the game again. I got up to hug her. I made sure to put my head on the shoulder Yui wasn't on.

Although virtual, our hold felt soul-touching. It was an itch I hadn't been able to scratch, just the urge to touch her.

"Is everyone inside?"

"Yeah! Uh- they're playing this weird dungeons and dragon game. It's getting pretty crazy." I laughed softly, happy that she mirrored my laugh politely.

"Good. I need to talk to everyone."

I automatically became nauseous at that phrase. She held my hand to pull me into the house and my anxiety became worse.

The girls playing the game stopped abruptly at the sight of Asuna.

"Good ta see ya, Kid" Klein placed a hand on top of Asuna's head.

A smile never left her face which brought me ease.

"You too, Klein!" She giggled.

"What's up?". Rika looked irritated, not even properly greeting our missed member. Everyone else was on edge.

"Uh. Sorry to interrupt guys. I just wanted to have a quick conversation with you all. Kirito you might want to sit down for this."

That nauseous feeling came back stronger. I sat down, hesitantly letting go of my girlfriend's hand.
