Raman eyes met with his mother in law who was done chanting with her evening Pooja. Madhavi Iyer acknowledged her son in law presence with a smile and kept her prayer beads aside. Raman rubbed his hands and glanced through the partition where Ishita and Roohi can be seen. Raman can sense the stress behind the smile Ishita masked. He sighed and looked back at his mother in law, contemplating if it's right time to talk about the issue bothering him.
"Let's have a cup of coffee Amma?" Raman cleared his throat decided to start their conversation with an offbeat topic. "Maa left?"
"Yes Kanna. Just now. Santhoshi looked tensed so I sent her back to home."
"Hmm." Raman hummed shifting his gaze from his mother in law to the other side of partition where his wife can be seen tending their daughter. Since the time they came to know about Roohi surgery date they were gloomy and quiet. They didn't imagined their lovely daughter celebrating her birthday on operation table. He knew his words cannot console and relieve Ishita restless heart who is clung to Roohi from the moment she came to know about her surgery date. They had talked to Dr. Ansari regarding postponement or prepone of dates but the date of her birthday is the possible nearest date they can give for Roohi birthday. They would take next few days in healing and preparing her body for surgery, it's difficult for them to digest the fact that their daughter is going to operate on her birthday.
"Yes Raman. You wanted to say something?" Madhavi Iyyer looked at her son in law with concerned filled eyes.
"Hmm. I don't know from where to start Amma but I am concerned for Ishita." Raman cleared his throat looking at his mother in law who gave him puzzled looks, "Why Ishita behaves differently in her father presence? I know she has grudges against him but her actions, her voice speaks differently everytime she meets him." Raman referred regarding the encounter of Ishita and Mr. Iyyer this evening when he appeared all of sudden, unannounced just after they finished meeting Dr. Ansari. He claimed that he came to visit Roohi but his words failed to convince Ishita, her eyes had madness and anger overpowered her senses. If it's not Roohi then he would ended up using some foul words which she never done before. He managed to divert Ishita mind somehow but her behaviour triggered something within him and forced him to discuss this issue with his mother in law.
Otherside Madhavi Iyyer wiped down the sweat beads formed at the corner of her forehead as her son in law mentioned about her husband and daughter. That's the sour and untouched topics of her life which she never cared to treat. She don't know how much Raman know about the equations shared by her husband and daughter but she don't want to leave any bad impact on Raman if he had none.
"What Ishita told you about her father?"
"Nothing much except the fact that she despise him for backing off from his responsibilities of his daughter. She never discussed much." Madhavi don't know if she should be relieved or amused on Ishita behaviour. That was a shock for her to know that Ishita never revealed her past to Raman, she never opened up with him in the eight years of her marriage. Their are so many things which happened in her past, Madhavi wondered how she never shared it with her husband even!
"You know how Ishita is. If she make opinion about someone than she never changes it." Madhavi knew she lied but what other option she had! If Ishita didn't shared her painful past with her husband despite married with him from last eight year than she shouldn't open with Raman either.
