Newt
No one could have predicted what happened next. If you had told any one of us that Jorge saved the majority of us from being taken, but that Minho somehow got taken from us, and Teresa went gladly with Wicked, none of us would have believed you.
The look on Minhos face, the look on Faith's face, Thomas' face, Fry's face, as Minho got dragged into the berg we're all etched into my brain.
It was horrifying and I knew I would never be able to get that image of him slumped over in the berg out of my head for a long time.

Since then, Faith had been pacing. Back and forth for hours, not saying a word to anyone. Not even me.
I had tried, but since came to the conclusion that I had to leave her be. She would figure out whatever she needed to and when she did I would be there for her.
Thomas was doing the same, just wandering off, not speaking, just thinking.
I perched myself on a rock and just waited. They were the only two who knew what our next steps had to be. They were the only two I would follow, no matter what anyone else said.

I couldn't count the minutes or hours that I had been sat there, but as the sun reached its peak in the sky, I watched as the two made their way to each other, and spoke in hushed voices.
It made me jealous that I wasn't more of a leader in the group and didn't have the leadership bond that they had. But even I couldn't deny that they bounced off of each other, their minds and strategies both brilliant.

They hugged before making their way over to the rest of us, both of them looking determined.
"What's your plan kid?" Vince asked with a sigh and Faith's head snapped up. She sighed heavily before answering.
"I've known Minho all my life. I promised him back in the maze that it would all be ok, that we would be free from Wicked. I refuse to go back on that promise." She said and I frowned.
"We're going to get him." Thomas said, answering my confusion.
I ran my hands through my hair and I couldn't help but sigh.
"We just got out of Wicked and now you want to go back in? Look, I've known Minho all my life, I would do anything for him but this? This is impossible." I sighed.
"The kids right. Going to save your friend means breaking into the City, and now that is truly impossible." Vince backed.
"We'd be killing ourselves."

Faith and Thomas looked at one another before she walked over to me and held my hand. Her hand was slightly cold and yet it sent a flow of warmth up my spine, causing me to close my eyes.
"I wouldn't ask you to do this if I didn't think we could do it." She said and I pushed a piece of loose hair behind her ear. "Please, do this with me."
"For you, always." I smiled and she leant forward and kissed my cheek softly.
"We'll head out to main base as soon as all this is cleared up." Vince sighed, looking around at all of the devastation.
"Main base? You mean this isn't it?" Thomas asked and Vince grinned.
"You didn't think this was all of us surely. This is just an outpost kid. We've built so much more over at main base. Wait till you see it. It's pretty impressive."

I couldn't remember how we got to main base, it was all a blur, a blur that my brain for some reason couldn't figure out.
The only one anchoring me down was Faith. As long as she was there I felt calm, safe. As long as she was there with me, I had hope and trust.
I clung to her hand the whole journey, even as she slept I clung to her, like she was the only thing that was keeping me sane, keeping me alive.

When we got there I couldn't quite believe what I was seeing.
There were old, rusted, broken ships all around, there was only one that was successfully bobbing on the water.
There were small makeshift type houses littering the place, and there were people walking around everywhere. It was like the base was it's own little village.

"So you guys will be assigned your own house, if you can call it that, We've set up your own beds, bathrooms, anything you want, is all here now." Vince explained and we all shared a nod.
We were shown to our small quarters. There was one large room with chairs and sofas and beds scattered around it, then there were two small bathrooms, along with another two small rooms, each with a bed in it.
We looked around the group and it was as if a mutual decision had been made that the two girls got the separate rooms while the rest of the guys shared the living room space.
It wasn't ideal, but it was better than the scorch.

"Hey." I said knocking on the doorframe of Faiths room. I leant against it and just looked at her.
She was sat on the bed, legs crossed, just staring out of the small window.
Her once pale shirt was now dirty with dust and dirt, as were her dark green cargo trousers. She had taken off her boots and I laughed slightly when I saw that one of her toes was poking out of her sock.
"Oh hey." She said and shuffled across, patting the space now free next to her.
I looked behind me and Frypan winked at me and i couldn't help but blush and roll my eyes as I walked into the room, closing the door behind me.
I sat next to her and she sighed.
"You know, this is one of the only times i've seen you with your hair down." I smiled and she turned to face me.
"Really? Surely not."
"Yep. You always wore it back or in those twisty things you do." I said motioning to her brown hair, that I only now noticed had flecks of golden caramel within it.
"Plaits?"
"Those."
She smiled and turned her face towards me.
"Can you believe all of this?" She said and her eyes held my gaze.
"Not really. The glade seems a million miles away from all of this."
"Well, it probably is." She giggled and i rolled my eyes.
"You know what I mean."

She smiled and bit her bottom lip. I looked down when I felt her hand slide under mine and our fingers intertwined.
"You should get some sleep. I'm sure the guys will want to get on with planning how to get Minho back and we need that brilliant mind of yours well rested." I smiled and she nodded.
"Ok."
"I'll be right outside if you need me."
I pulled her into my body and kissed the top of her head and I noticed that she closed her eyes and deeply exhaled when I did, causing a shiver to go through me.
Maybe I was becoming her happy place, just as she was becoming mine.
