Thomas
I felt a weight cone off my shoulders as we passed on the duty of staying awake onto Newt.
"I don't want to fall asleep" I heard Faith sigh from beside me.
I raised my eyebrow as we met eyes and she sighed again.
"Nightmares"
"We're all right here. I'm right here. Nothing is going to happen to you. I can promise you that now" I whispered as she curled up again.
"Promise?" She whispered and jutted out her pinky finger towards me.
I locked her finger with mine and shook it.
"I promise" I said and felt her finger slip out of mine.
I brushed her hair off of her neck and forehead as she closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.

I sat up straight and just took in a few deep breaths, trying not to inhale the ever present sand. I closed my eyes and just listened.
"She won't love you" I heard from across the circle.
I opened my eyes and locked them into Newt. I scoffed.
"What?"
"She won't love you. I've been trying for years to feel that love back from her. She's the leader. That's why she won't love either of us." He said not breaking the lock between our eyes.
"I've never said I wanted her to love me. Love is the last thing on my mind out here" I said sternly.
"Doesn't look like it from where I'm sat." He spat back and I was almost taken back by this new side to him. A side I'm sure no one has ever really seen.
"Can't you just let it go already? You're infuriating her with your constant pressuring her to be with you! It's you who's driving her away. Not me" I explained and he almost looked taken back.
"I can't let it go. That's what you don't understand" he said almost sadly.
I simply raised an eyebrow at him and he took a deep breath in and out.
"I love her. Have done since day one. For as long as I can remember" he sighed. "Get some sleep" he said before swivelling round and turning his back on me.

I sighed as I gently flopped down back onto the hard floor.
I stared up at the sky for a while before an arm slid across my waist, taking me by surprise. I looked over and saw Faiths arm draped over me.
I knew it wasn't intentional and yet it felt comforting to me. Just knowing that she was here and finally having a little relaxation in her completely manic life.
I know that there was no one here that wouldn't give their life for her. Including myself.
She was the one we'd all protect, we all loved her and nothing she said or did would change that.

Faith
I was back in the glade. The gorgeous green grass and the wind in my hair made me feel happier.
There were no walls, the only large structures being a stable, filled with animals, and a large hut.
It was like it was the first day I arrived.
The pond glistened and the rustle of the trees filled my ears.
I stood in the centre of the glade just taking it all in, when a hand slipped into mine. I closed my eyes with a smile as I squeezed his hand. His hand slipped out of mine and moved to slide around my waist as he then stood behind me.
I took in the feel of how we fit together. He rest his head on my shoulder after moving my hair out of the way.
"We're free" he whispered in my ear and I nodded.
"No walls, no limits" I said and it was his turn to nod.
His lips went to my neck and placed several kisses there.
I reached behind me and ran my hand through his blonde hair.

"Everything is perfect" I said to him as I turned in his arms to face him.
"I'm glad everyone is safe" he said and I nodded as I turned my head to see the other huts in the distance.
"Yes"
"You made us all safe. All this is because of your bravery. And I love you with all my heart"  he said and I smiled, cupping his face in my hand.
"I love you too Newt"
He brought his lips down to mine and wrapped his arms around me.  As we kissed, everything was just brought into place. It all fit.  It all felt right.

But as I pulled away from him something changed. Something wasn't right. As I opened my eyes Newt had been replaced by Thomas, a worried look plastered on his face.
"We gotta go" he said and held my upper arms.
I shook my head.
"No. No it was all ok. It's all fine. Please no" I panicked but he started to shout and shake me.
"Wake up! We gotta go!" He said.
And my dream was ripped from me.

Newt
I looked over at everyone as Minho yelled about the lightning.
A wave of panic washed over me as I saw that Faith was still asleep, even surrounded by chaos.
Before I could get to her  Thomas was on her shaking her arms.
After a few shakes I saw that she was still limp, as if she was in some type of coma.
I panicked and went over, leaning over Thomas as he shook her and yelled.
She just wouldn't wake.
That's when a panic in me thought that she had already been struck by lightning while we were all still asleep, and I think Thomas had the same thought.
"No. No!" He said sternly and shook her harder , yelling louder and louder.

I turned to the others, "start running! Minho lead them! Go!" I yelled over the lightning before turning my attention back down to the scene on the floor.
"Please please please" I whispered.
"What the-" I heard her groggy voice say and even in the chaos I smiled down at her as a huge weight lifted off mine and Thomas' shoulders.
"We gotta go! The lightning is here!" Thomas said and we both helped her up to her feet. She grabbed her pack and we all started sprinting to where the lights were.
I pushed myself, not even my leg could hold me back now. Not now I was faced with such a horrible death out here.

I started to slow as my leg started to burn and Faith and Thomas sped ahead of me.
But in a blur, she stopped just outside one of the buildings beckoning me to come quicker. I pushed myself and pushed until I had to audibly scream at the pain.
I was just about to get to her when a bolt crashed to the ground, sending both Faith and I flying.
Despite the ringing in my ears I picked myself up and stumbled to where Thomas and Minho were dragging Faith into the building.
I entered behind them and collapsed onto my knees.
Teresa came over and checked if I was ok, but I didn't worry about myself.
"Is she alright?" I asked.
"Try agin!" Minho yelled and I turned my head to see Thomas pressing hard onto her chest before pressing his mouth to hers.
That was my answer.
I knew she had been hit.
"Oh god it's my fault" I said as I crawled over to her.
"No Newt. She would have made sure we all got in before her." Fry said.
"If I wasn't so slow she would be-"
A loud gasp rang out followed by large sighs of relief.
Thomas clambered off of her and helped her up, taking her into his arms.
"Thank god you're ok" he smiled.
"You can't kill me that easily" she laughed and I admired her strength and beauty.
Yet in that moment I think it dawned on all of us just how quickly she, or anyone, could be taken away from us.
