Faith
"No. Absolutely not."
"Faith be rational here."
"I'm being very rational. No."

When Newt and Thomas came back and revealed to us that the way into the city was through Teresa my blood ran cold. There was no way I was putting my trust into that girl. I was not relying on someone who betrayed us to get Minho back.

We were all sat around a round table, a dim light hanging above us.
Thomas was one side of me whilst Newt was on the other. But Newt was abnormally quiet. He was picking at his fingers, staring aimlessly at the table.
I kept glancing over at him but he never met my eye which worried me. Something was definitely up and I knew I would have to get it out of him later once we figured out this plan.

"Look, she is our only chance of getting into that building. We have no other way." Thomas sighed.
"I disagree. I will never ever trust that girl again. Ever. She'll go behind our backs and lock us somewhere and experiment on us. Mark my words." I scoffed.
"Maybe she's different." Thomas said so quietly i could barely hear him.
"Different?" I said and turned my whole body to face him, "Are we thinking about the same girl here? The same ass wipe that betrayed us?"
"Oh i missed you." Gally laughed and I rolled my eyes.
"She's a bitch Thomas get over it."
"What are you jealous?"

I frowned as the words left Newts mouth and I turned on my heel back to face him.
"What?"
"Are. You. Jealous?" Newt said, now standing completely upright, eyes fixed onto mine.
"Why would you say something like that?" I said and I felt a lump rise in my throat.
"You've fancied him ever since you met him haven't you? Just strung me along when it was him all along. He was the one you wanted wasn't he." Newt said and he stepped forward so much so that i had taken so many steps back until my back was up against the wall.
"No of course not. I want you." I said quietly.
"Don't fucking lie!" He said and slammed a fist into the wall about an inch from my head.

My eyes went wide as the tears started to form. He would never hurt me. This wasn't him. I hadn't ever felt my chest rise and fall so fast. I quickly glanced at everyone else.
Thomas looked furious, as did Jorge.
Brenda and Frypan covered their mouths with their hands.
Gally looked down at the table and I notice his eyes close momentarily.
I looked back to Newt whose eyes were now firmly focused on the floor.
I couldn't say anything.
My words caught in a jumble in my throat.
Newt moved to stand upright in front of me and involuntarily I flinched.

His eyes quickly moved to mine and they filled with hurt and realisation.
"I-I'm sorry." He whispered before turning to everyone. "I'm sorry." He said again before quickly leaving the room.
I slid my back down the wall until I hit the floor, I bent my knees up as I ran my hand through my hair.
"What just happened?" Fry said and I shook my head as a single silent tear fell down my cheek.
"I'm going to kill him." Thomas said as he started to walk away.
"No!" I yelled forcefully and he stopped in his tracks.

I quickly rose to my feet and brushed myself off.
"Ive been with him since this all began. He was the first person I met, the first I trusted, the first I cried with, and for. The first person I loved." I sighed and shrugged on my black jacket. "I'll get him."

I followed the instruction of a girl who said she had seen Newt go up to one of the roofs.
He was sat with his legs dangling off the side of the building, looking out into the distance.
I just looked at him for a moment.
His golden hair glistened in the sunlight, tear stains glowed on his cheeks. He also clutched one of his forearms in his hand.

I pushed myself forward and gently lowered myself next to him, letting the sunlight hit my face.
"I can't hide this anymore." He said, and I slowly turned my head. But when my eyes caught sight of what he was talking about I wished I hadn't looked at all.
Blue and purple veins covered his arm with a main focus point in the middle.
I closed my eyes and turned away.
"How?" I whispered.
"I dunno. Wicked gave me some serum that they didn't give the rest. Some bluish formula. I was suspicious, so was Thomas but they did it anyways."
"Y-you think W-Wicked gave you the f-flare?" I said, having to speak slowly and quietly so that I didn't break.
"I think so. I haven't been bitten. Unless it's airborne. But it started to develop as soon as the serum was given to me, so i'm pretty sure."
"Those bastards." I said.

Immediately I promised myself that I would kill every last Wicked personnel for doing this to him.
Anyone that came up with the idea to put the virus into him would die.
That was a promise.

"I-I'm sorry for back there. I didn't mean to scare you. I would never hurt you." He said and placed a gentle hand on the side of my face, forcing me to look at him.
"I know" I said and couldn't stop the tears from falling hard and fast.
"Hey, don't cry. Please don't cry." He said and it made me cry harder.
"You've been the one consistent thing in my life. I don't want to imagine a future that you're not in. I can't live without you." I sobbed and I watched as tears formed in his own eyes.
"You promise me now, that if this disease takes me, you have to carry on, you have to finish this." He said and pressed his forehead to mine.
I immediately shook my head.
"No. No i'm not doing this without you. Do you hear me? I'm not doing this without you." I cried.
"You have to. I promise it'll be ok."
"It will be ok. Because you'll be here. Right? You're not going to die. I'll get you the cure they gave Brenda. I-I'm sure we have some." I bargained.
"Nothing gets in the way of helping Minho."
"You're my priority. If i can help you, I help you. Do not expect me not to." I said sniffling back tears and he simply nodded.

I know Minho was his priority, but he was mine. And there was absolutely no way I was letting Wicked win.
I wasn't letting him die at their hands.
