Newt
Me and the boys were ready to go, we all stood silently, waiting for Faith to come down the stairs.
She hasn't slept at all last night. She had been tossing and turning all night. I tired to calm her down by holding her but it was no use, she woke up as the sun rose, getting dressed and walking out of the house.
It worried me that I didn't know where we was going, but I couldn't stop her. I had to let her do what she needed to do.
But when she hadn't come back even when the boys arrived I was nervous.
It was only when the door started to open that my heart settled.
But when she walked in she looked worse for wear. She wore her usual cargos and black jumper, her hair flowing down her shoulders. But she looked on edge, and her face was pale. Thomas hadn't told me what she had told him, but I'm guessing it was something big on her mind.

"Where have you been love?" I asked kissing her head.
"Just at the beach."
"You look pale, have you drank today? Eaten?" Thomas said and I frowned at his sudden anxiousness.
"I'm fine. Let's just get this over with." Faith said, walking back out the door, leaving all of us to follow her, just like old times.

No one spoke as we walked to Vince's house. I couldn't help but feel anxious. There was something wrong with Faith, something was bothering her and I could tell it wasn't just about going back into the maze. I was certain of this when Thomas broke away from us to walk side by side with her, wrapping a protective arm around her.

We all piled into the berg that sat for all these years still running in the airfield. I watched on from a distance as Vince and Thomas gathered round Faith. Vince checked her harness, checking over and over that it was properly attached, telling her not to move around whilst the berg was in the air, which I thought was odd, he was usually protective of her, but not this protective.
Thomas handed her a bottle of water, and food before kissing her head and walking away.
That should be me making sure she was ok, making sure she was safe, and yet she didn't want to be around me. All I could do was watch on.

I kept my eye on her through the journey, until Vince called me forward. As I walked forward I couldn't believe what was before us.
The walls of the maze still stood. Though they were covered in ivy and other foliage, they still stood. My heart started to race as the berg hovered over the glade, the place we once felt was home.
"I can't land. You'll have to ladder down." Vince said and we all nodded.
"I'll go first."
We turned round and Faith was out of her chair, already walking over to the hatch that would drop us down.
"Kid would you just take it easy?" Vince said and Faith rolled her eyes.
"I'm fine. Let us down." She said and Vince sighed before opening the hatch, the ladder dropping down letting us all see the glade below.
Faith quickly clambered onto the ladder and I watched until her feet hit the grass.
We all came down after her, all of us looking around at the now overgrown glade.

It was surreal. The grass came up to our waists, and we had to wade through it to walk. None of us spoke. I don't think any of us had the words.
The council house that we had built still stood, and when I looked around I saw that the little pond was still there.
I had to take deep breaths to hold back my tears. This is where it all began, where we all met, where we all bonded together, where we all faced so much.

We all dispersed to different parts of the glade, Minho and Thomas walked to the north doors, Fry went to the council house, Faith wandered over to the pond.
I wiped my eyes and wandered over to where Faith was now sat by the edge of the pond, sitting down beside her.
"This is where I realised I loved you. Sat here. That day when it was just us, it was sunny, we sat splashing each other, just talking." I smiled and she looked at me for the first time that day.
A smile spread across her face, "You'd only known me for three weeks by that point Newt."
"And? What can I say, I fell hard and fast." I laughed.
"How do you feel now we're back?" She asked and I sighed.
"It's surreal. This place that was once filled with so much destruction has turned itself into something beautiful. I mean look at the grass, the birds, the flowers, the nature has made the maze their own. It's beautiful now." I said and she nodded.
"It is. Have you got your closure?"
"I do. And I can't thank you enough for doing this for me. It means everything that you would come back here for me."
"Well, I guess this is the place we met, the place we fell in love, so, it's nice to see it like this." She said and I kissed her cheek, "So I guess there's no better place to tell you that I'm pregnant."

My mind stopped functioning for a minute. All I could do was stare at her as she stared back at me. No words were forming in my head. I thought I had heard her wrong.
"What?"
"We're having a baby." She grinned and I couldn't stop the laugh that rose from inside me.
"Christ." I laughed and she started to laugh along with me.
I pulled her off the floor as I stood myself, and immediately pulled her into me. I held her, and our unborn child in my arms and I knew I couldn't get any happier than this. This was my forever, she was my forever.
She was my first, and I couldn't be more grateful that she would be my last.

End.
