kiri waved her off, "no need to thank. i'm just here to give you all the nudge you need, if i hear either neteyam or lo'ak complain that you don't like them one more time i'm going to lose it. so please, act sooner rather than later?"
talia nodded with the same wide grin plastered on her face. "of course." hearing that they liked her back lit a fire inside her and she didn't want to put it out.
having to wait a few more hours to see neteyam and lo'ak for their night swim felt like an eternity to talia. she couldn't find them beforehand so she waited in her tent, trying not to fall asleep as the hours got late.
finally, some lengthy hours later, it was time to meet the boys at the fishing spot. it wasn't a long walk by any means, but now that she was motivated by kiri it felt never-ending. her heart thumped at the mere thought of expressing her feelings towards them, hoping they felt the same even a little bit.
talia appeared to arrive first. she sat by the edge of the lake and dipped her toes in the cool night-time water. she spot several fish swimming around a few rugged rocks, their movements swift. her eyes watched the sleek creatures as she awaited for her company's arrival.
suddenly, she felt a pair of hands cover her eyes. the avatar girl let out a shriek in surprise, but smiling once she realized who it was. "neteyam!"
"how did you know it was me?" he asked, her response being, "i can't give away all of my secrets." she smirked.
talia turned and nudged the boy to sit with her, "where's lo'ak?"
taking a seat next to the girl, he shrugged, "he is probably just running late, as usual." as if summoned, the younger sully boy appeared behind them.
"damn bro, how'd you get here so fast?" lo'ak was breathing faster than usual, leave it to him to take the most dangerous way to the lake.
neteyam rolled his eyes, "because i didn't stop to check out the crash site, skxawng." lo'ak drifted his eyes to talia who still sat, "hey, tal. was neteyam boring you before i showed up?" he smirked.
neteyam smacked his younger brother on the arm, earning an 'ow, dude!'. to gain their attention again, talia sunk into the water and turned to them. her ears perked as she watched their eyes drift down her now watery body.
"anyone gonna join me?" she brought them out of their trance and laughed as they both jumped in without a second thought. the three swam about, playing games and splashing each other.
lo'ak tried to send a giant wave of water to neteyam, but miscalculated and directly hit talia. she didn't even have time to react before she was thrown under the water. the boy gasped and tried to run through to get to her as he worried.
talia rose from under the water, gasping from the surprise attack. "you dick!" she choked out with a teasing tone.
neteyam was closer to her and put an arm around her torso, helping keep her afloat.
"shit- i'm so sorry!" he grimaced at the girls now soaked body and hair— not completing minding it.
"let me guess, trying to take me out so i don't show up as a better hunter than you? that's low." she jokingly narrowed her eyes at lo'ak, wading away from neteyam and swimming towards lo'ak now.
lo'ak gulped at the sight of the pretty avatar under the moonlight, her bright freckles sparkling the same as her eyes. she was swimming closer and closer, his heartbeat began to pick up. somehow she still made him nervous, even after knowing each other for several weeks.
"nah, no one's better than me." he fought to keep his confidence up, but felt it quivering once talia stood before him. she tilted her head and smirked, "you sure about that, lo?"
