CHAPTER THIRTY TWO
FRIENDS
luckily when the trio returned back to their marui, the only people currently occupying it were spider and kiri. though they halted what seemed to be an important conversation as soon as they walked through the front opening, letting a long silence linger in the air.
talia didn't pay any mind to the new awkward tension as she made a beeline for her clothes, searching for anything to cover her neck. she only had necklaces but they weren't thick enough to cover even a single hickey.
that's when talia felt a presence next to her, looking up to see kiri. the girl held a smug look with a brow raised as she held out one of her shawls that were pretty modest.
"here- looks like you need it." kiri teased to the girl, talia took the shawl and put it on right away. it draped across her shoulders and covered most of her neck, enough to make it through the dinner at least.
"thanks kiri, you're a lifesaver." talia then laughed, "literally."
"no problem," she winked then turned to the boys, "mom, dad, and tuk are already at dinner. so we should go now." the group then started their walk to the communal dinner where the clan ate together.
arriving at the entrance, talia noticed tsireya right away as the latter flagged her down. her hand was waving in the air to grab her attention along with the rest of the omaticayan group.
talia held the shawl a little closer as they neared the table with tsireya, aonung, rotxo, and a few other metkayinan teens. the chiefs daughter tugged on talia's arm, "sit with me!"
talia glanced back to her mates who merely shrugged, not entirely too worried just yet about her sitting by the other girl. the boys sat on the opposite side of the table, next to rotxo.
"we have brought the food for you already, so help yourselves." tsireya smiled at the newcomers who thanked her in return. talia grabbed some of the fish and placed it on the leaf in front of her then started eating.
everyone held their own conversations within the smaller groups, meaning tsireya held talia's attention for awhile.
"you must come to the market with me, we will find you proper metkayina clothing." the teal girl grinned ear to ear.
talia smiled in return, "yeah, that sounds fun! i think kiri and tuk would love to join actually."
tsireya let her smile falter for a split second before returning it, "of course, they are welcome to join."
