'When it rains it pours!' I remember Mama always saying that when we were younger. I never fully grasped it until now.
"Peach, what was the name of the club? "
"Havana. "
The damn cartel's club.
"I'm disappointed in you. I never said anything about you and your little trio of assassins. I was proud that you were following in my footsteps. Rome and I thought it would be best to just monitor y'all from a distance. Nicci, you have put your supposedly best friend in danger because you wanted to make fun of her to a group of strangers. "
Aiden just realized it's more to his fiancé than meets the eye. We will see just how much he loves her. If he sticks around, he always gets my respect.
"It wasn't like that daddy. We were drunk and having fun; they didn't even know who she was."
"Baby, you showed them a picture of her. She's a big name in her industry, and you were showing it around at the cartel's club."
Aiden has proven to me he is the man for her, because once I lost respect for Brenda, I probably would have checked her ass by now.
"Pops, what's going on? I'm not concerned about what she got going on. Clearly she was never Lay's friend to begin with."
"Really, Ken? I made some mistakes but I was her friend."
"Yeah, okay."
I have to fix this shit. I won't have my kids fighting each other.
"Both of you need to calm the fuck down. No matter what has happened, you both are still brother and sister. Family always comes first. Peach, the guy who showed interest was Carlos Garcia. He's the head of the Mexican cartel and one of the most dangerous. He wants Layla, as interest for drugs that were stolen. Angelica told him that you can deliver her to him because she was your sister-in-law. Not only that, she claimed that you secretly hated her and was looking for a way to get rid of her. "
The tears falling down her face, tells me that some of the shit Angelica said was true. How the fuck is my own daughter a fucking snake?
"I only told her that if I found a guy worthy enough for her, I would serve him on a silver platter because they would treat her better, that's it. "
"Well, Ange just put a spin on that shit and put a target on your head and Layla's. Carlos won't just turn away, he's a fucking lunatic."
Aiden is right.
"Baby, you fucked up. How could you do that? She said she thought y'all were making fun of her, but she was still a friend to you. She loved you. When she was thinking about killing herself, she called you first because she trusted and believed that you cared for her.
Nine years ago, I seriously contemplated killing myself. It was a rough year and I just couldn't shake that my own fucking mother would try to kill me. I felt like shit and it wasn't anyone or anything that could tell me differently until Lay popped up at my house looking for Ry'lo. She was visiting for a holiday, and as soon as she saw me she wrapped her arms around me and told me that everything would be okay. She told me that I was braver than my mother and that if no one else would miss me when I was gone, then she would. I never even told her that I was thinking about it."
We all are looking at him like this is another person because I would have never thought Ace was that deep in depression.
"We bonded more that day and that was the day she became my sister. I was there for her when you didn't answer her call. She sacrificed her safe zone for your happiness today. She still was willing to leave our connection behind so you could be happy."
