Once we were brought to safety Asriel quick sped away to help his brother. I turned to Papyrus.
"Take Gaster so he can get medical help. I'm taking Sans down below to the lab so he doesn't die."
"Error are you sure? He doesn't-"
"I'm sure Papyrus, I just need time. I promise that I'll be ok but Gaster needs you right now." I wasn't lying about the time since the longer this went on the more stable things felt. Eventually Papyrus let up and I grabbed Sans before taking a shortcut down below. A bit of a mistake on my end since I almost immediately fell over but I managed. I placed Sans in the small container that he was in before and made sure he was stable. It was a relief seeing that he was perfectly fine, not dust, no melting, and no horrors of failure.
Not yet at least.
I took a breath before I swiped the air successfully opening a screen. Using my other hand I swiped a screen over Sans to get his immediate information. The first screen was to keep me updated with everything in general.
Now, how was I going to do this?
I knew that I could do something but it was like the answer was just clouded from my gaze. The goal was to put magic into his hollow soul, it can't be just any magic it needed to be monster magic. The closer to his own the better. Like blood types, you can't just put whatever.
Something wasn't sitting right with me. I didn't feel right. I remembered when I saw that bit of text that said that I was in possession of two entities. At first I thought it was referring to my soul but part of me thinks otherwise.
Taking a moment I closed my eyes and held my hands out just focusing on my magic. I took steady breaths and made sure to clear my head. At first I felt nothing odd then I felt something. Something was there, I felt my strings activate and then weight at my fingertips. Opening my eyes I saw two things. Two souls. One that seemed small and meek and the other that seemed overflowing with energy.
I remembered that when Alphys died her soul glitched before disappearing entirely. I must've taken it before anything could happen. Anything bad anyways. And that's when it hit me.
I still had it. I had 404's soul. 404 is a Sans. 404 has a lot of magic.
"It's the least you could do for all the trouble you caused me." I said as I glared at the tied up soul with a grin. It was going to be a process though since I didn't want Sans's soul to reject it or something similar.
With my screens at the ready returned the other soul I started looking through everything. I was not going to risk screwing this up. I went through options and eventually found a screen for 404's soul. I looked at the data and compared it to Sans's soul to see what was what. Sans had low hp but it seemed that the determination in him has made him stronger, his magic levels were practically zero so I started the process of taking a small portion of the magic in 404's soul and transferring it to Sans's.
404 had a lot, and I mean a lot, of magic. A small portion for him could be too much for someone else. I had take a small bit, put it in the other soul, and wait to see that the soul was stable and ready to take more. My strings were thankfully holding it together so it didn't burst suddenly.
I had to pause my work when I realized on the main screen that Asriel's name faded for a moment before coming back. It was almost over. I made sure Sans was fine before heading out of the lab. I took a shortcut to the edge of the city before following the trail of damage.
As I walked the sky looked less ominous and I could see the stars shining brightly above. I found myself at the edge of a ravine and looked down seeing two figures laying on the ground. I jumped down, using my strings to slow my fall, and made my way over. To my relief Chara and Asriel were in one piece, eyes closed, smiling with tears, and their hands touching.
