Nightmare's pov
I stayed by Error as they were vulnerable in this state. Anything could happen if I left and I refuse to be the reason that something goes wrong. During their unaware state I noticed how occasionally something would twitch or their face would scrunch a bit in displeasure.
Either they are dreaming or are experiencing some bad memories. All I could do is wait close by and ease them to the best of my abilities. I wasn't entirely sure how to do that in my current state.
I do remember that Error always managed to sleep extremely close to Horror and just assumed that they were comfortable with each other. But maybe there was more to it.
I started thinking back on other times Error had fallen asleep. Even though they weren't a fan of touch having company always did work wonders. I moved closer and my lower appendages rested along their tail, torso, and arm. I didn't want to cover too much incase their glitch acted up.
But I had nothing to worried about as I saw Error's form relax. It was a comforting site considering everything that they've been put through. I almost forget how they are different from the rest of us. A human and a monster merged into one. A fragile mind and body fueled by high power and events of their past.
They are growing. That's all that matters. They don't ask for much so I will continue to provide what I can.
I noticed Dream was laying a bit away and was holding the old shipwreck as Ink just moved around excited. My brother's newly acquired huge form made that ship look like a toy in his grasp. If he could change his size then there was a high chance myself or the other two could do the same.
It's definitely possible since in our normal environment we are practically gods. It's not something I'm a fan of saying out loud since ego can lead to downfall but it's true in a way. It take mote that a hit to take us down and our powers far exceed the others. If that were the case then no doubt Reaper Sans would be able to become huge if he came here as well.
A test for another day.
I zoned out after awhile of waiting and only was briefly brought back to attention whenever a sea creature of some kind was swimming nearby. There were quite the variety, I would have to do some research when I got the chance since Error was definitely on edge earlier.
I wonder what creatures caused the practical god of destruction to be weary.
Speaking of, the longer they rested the more I worried. They were still breathing but I would much rather prefer them to be awake. I'm not unfamiliar with the effects of being overwhelmed by something but that doesn't mean I get used to it. I didn't even feel anything, if Ink didn't come to find me then I don't know how this would play out.
All I could do was wait.
Error/Reader pov
For a moment I thought I was back in my room located in Nightmare's domain. I was still, resting, and felt weight on my body that gave me comfort. My hearing told me otherwise. I could hear the watery environment of the location I went to explore with the others.
The others.
I felt my eye lids were heavy but I managed to open my eyes seeing the sandy ocean floor, seaweed, stones, fish, etc. Everything was blury though, like more than usual, and I had to blink a few times. I moved to turn over so I could lay on my back and felt the weight from earlier dissappear from my body the moment I attempted to move. I gazed up at the blue above me a bit dazed.
"Error? Can you hear me?" I heard from nearby. I tilted my head back a bit and saw Nightmare above me.
"Nightmare... what happened? I remember trying to get Dream and then everything got fuzzy and... not great."
"Relax Error. You had overwhelmed yourself, an anxiety attack most likely. Dream is fine and he brought you but up since you passed out." He said trying to inform me.
"Passed out... I don't like that." Passing out while in the ocean was a scary thought.
"I don't believe anyone would. Take your time. Once you're stable we're leaving. The others already agreed."
"Even Ink?"
"Eventually." He said which told me Ink was reluctant about the decision. Speaking of, I saw the squid skeleton coming over.
"I heard my name! Oh Error you're awake! Hey Dream! Error's up!" Ink shouted and I was a bit confused about how far Dream must've been until I figured out the actual reason why he was so loud.
"Dream?! What happened?" I asked stunned seeing a giant Dream. He looked more majestic in this bigger form. I could see him smiling down at me.
"Error, it's good to see you awake. As you can see I grew quite large. I didn't mean to cause you to panic like you did and I'm very sorry about it." He sounded apologetic but I was more concerned about something else entirely.
"Are you... are you able to change back?" I asked and he just shrugged.
"I'm pretty sure I can. If I grew big wanting to get out of something then I should shrink wanting to go into something, right?" He said and I slowly nodded my head.
"I mean, makes sense in a way..." I muttered before I pushed myself up to a sitting up position.
"But seriously Error are you ok?" Ink asked and I waved my hand.
"Yeah I'm fine I just... I want to go home." I said and my tone just felt tired. I felt limbs help lift my body before I stabilized myself. I was feeling a big groggy and swiped to open a screen. Again there was no title but I didn't care. I just wanted to leave. A noticed popped up.
Return to the start.
"The start? You mean that one cave area?" Ink asked as he read the same screen I was.
"If that's what it says then that's where we go." Nightmare said. Before any of us could react Dream scooped us in his hands and beamed.
"I know which way it is." He said before swimming away from the wreck. His large form made the trip very short. We swam down to the cave, after waiting for Dream to shrink, and went in. The was a far wall that looked like a portal except it wasn't active and there was an empty slot.
"Well... now what?" Ink asked as I checked to see if I got new instructions.
Place object to open portal.
"Place object? What object?" I asked confused. I heard Dream hum before he gasped.
"Oh, Ink do you still have that pearl?"
"Right here," Ink said lifting up a limb that ai didn't notice was rolled up. He unraveled it revealing an impressive sized pearl. It wasn't just white either, it resembled what I believe would be opal. But still on the white side. Dream just grabbed the pearl and swam up before putting it in the round slot.
The markings on the wall started to became brighter but the portal opened.
"Not bad, guess that trip down wasn't a waste of time." Nightmare said. Ink swam through first followed by Dream. I swam forward with the negativity king right behind me. It was bright and I felt like I was falling. For a moment I could feel or see but then I was pushed out of the portal and skidded to a stop landing on my feet. Once Nightmare came through the portal closed up leaved the odd paper in its place.
"Weird, it feels real funny walking again." Ink said as he hand his hands out to help him walk. I took a step and knew what he meant, my legs felt like jelly. Close to sea legs on a ship now that I think about it.
The four of us agreed that maybe we should search for more odd aus on a later date before I was forced to leave the Doodle-Sphere by Nightmare. I do mean forced, he grabbed my shoulder and we sunk into the ground before popping back up in his domain.
"Hey, welcome back. You look tired." I heard from my left and saw Killer there just leaning against the wall.
"Not now Killer, Error go rest. Proper rest. I want to have a word with you about what happened later." By his tone I wasn't getting much of a choice. I mean I could always just go to the Anti-Void but I trust Nightmare enough to not be that weary of him.
I headed to my room not ready for whatever this talk was going to be.
