As the words hung in the air, a sense of warmth spread between Y/N and Oikawa. They had just confessed their feelings, and the tension that had once filled the room was replaced by something much softer, more tender. Slowly, the distance between them seemed to shrink, and they found themselves leaning closer.
Oikawa's eyes searched Y/N's, a question lingering there, and when he saw her give the faintest nod of encouragement, he closed the gap. Their lips met in a gentle kiss, soft and tentative, as if they were both savoring the moment they had been too shy to admit they wanted. The kiss was sweet, a perfect blend of nervousness and newfound excitement, with neither of them in a rush to pull away.
Y/N could feel her heart flutter as the kiss deepened ever so slightly, a sense of rightness settling over her. She could feel the warmth of Oikawa's hand as it gently cupped her cheek, his touch as tender as his kiss. It was everything she had imagined and more, a mix of emotions she didn't even realize she had been holding back.
But before they could fully lose themselves in the moment, a knock on the door jolted them apart. They both turned just in time to see Y/N's mother entering the room, a tray in her hands holding two glasses of milk and a plate of milk bread.
"Well, well, what do we have here?" her mother said, her voice dripping with playful amusement as she took in the scene before her.
Y/N's face turned beet red, and she quickly scooted away from Oikawa, her heart still racing from the kiss and now from the embarrassment of being caught. Oikawa, on the other hand, flashed one of his trademark grins, completely unfazed.
"Hi, Mrs. Y/L/N!" Oikawa greeted cheerfully, as if he hadn't just been caught kissing her daughter. "We were just, uh, finishing up our study session."
Her mother raised an eyebrow, clearly not buying the excuse. "Is that what they're calling it these days?" she teased, placing the tray on Y/N's desk and giving Oikawa a knowing look.
Before Y/N could die of embarrassment, Oikawa, still grinning, leaned back in his chair and said, "Actually, Mrs. Y/L/N, I have some good news. Y/N and I just became a couple."
Y/N's eyes widened in shock, and she turned to Oikawa with a look of disbelief. "W-What?" she stammered. They hadn't exactly discussed being official, but now that he'd said it, she realized it felt right.
Her mother clapped her hands together in delight, completely missing Y/N's shock. "Oh, that's wonderful! I knew something was going on between you two," she said, giving Y/N a playful nudge. "I'm so happy for you both!"
Y/N, still processing what had just happened, could only manage a weak smile. Oikawa's confident grin remained plastered on his face as if he hadn't just casually declared their relationship status to her mother without any prior discussion.
"Well, I'll leave you two lovebirds alone," her mother said, winking at Y/N before heading out of the room. "Don't stay up too late!"
As the door closed behind her, Y/N turned to Oikawa, her cheeks still burning with embarrassment. "Did you really just tell my mom we're a couple?" she asked, her voice a mix of disbelief and amusement.
Oikawa shrugged, his expression softening. "Well, we are, aren't we? I mean, we like each other, and we just kissed... it seems pretty official to me."
Y/N blinked, still trying to wrap her head around how smoothly he'd taken things to the next level. But the more she thought about it, the more she realized he was right. "Yeah... I guess we are," she admitted, a shy smile spreading across her face.
"Besides," Oikawa added, reaching over to take her hand, "I couldn't wait to tell someone. And who better than your mom?"
Y/N couldn't help but laugh at that, the tension from before melting away entirely. "You're something else, you know that?"
Oikawa chuckled, squeezing her hand gently. "I'll take that as a compliment."
A shy smile tugged at Y/N's lips, and she felt her heart skip a beat. The atmosphere between them shifted, the playful banter giving way to something more tender. Slowly, almost instinctively, they leaned toward each other again, the earlier embarrassment fading into the background.
Oikawa's hand gently cupped Y/N's cheek, his thumb brushing lightly against her skin. She closed her eyes, feeling the warmth of his touch as their lips met once more. The kiss was soft and unhurried, a continuation of the feelings they had just confessed. There was a sense of certainty in the way they kissed this time, as if both were savoring the moment and all that it meant.
Y/N's free hand found its way to Oikawa's shoulder, holding onto him as they deepened the kiss. It was sweet and tender, filled with the kind of warmth that made her heart flutter. Every sensation seemed amplified—the softness of his lips, the gentle pressure of his hand on her cheek, the steady rhythm of his breath mingling with hers.
Time seemed to slow down as they lost themselves in the kiss, the rest of the world fading away. It was just the two of them, sharing a moment that felt both delicate and profound, as if they were sealing their newfound connection with each gentle touch.
Eventually, they pulled away, breathless but smiling. Y/N felt a giddy warmth spread through her as she met Oikawa's gaze, the depth of his feelings evident in the way he looked at her.
"Yeah," Oikawa said, his voice barely above a whisper, "I could get used to this."
Y/N blushed, her heart swelling with happiness. "Me too," she replied softly, a smile playing on her lips.
They sat in comfortable silence for a moment, the closeness between them now something natural, something they didn't need to question. Y/N couldn't help but feel that this was exactly where she was meant to be, right here with Oikawa, in this shared moment of understanding and affection.
Just as they were settling back, still holding hands, Y/N couldn't resist teasing him a little. "You know, you're lucky my mom didn't walk in just now," she said with a playful grin.
Oikawa chuckled, his eyes crinkling with amusement. "Yeah, I guess I am. But hey, if she had, I would've just told her how lucky I am to be with you."
Y/N's cheeks flushed with warmth at his words, and she playfully nudged him. "You're such a charmer."
Oikawa grinned, leaning in to steal one more quick kiss. "Only for you."
The rest of the evening passed in a blur of laughter and comfortable conversation, the earlier nerves and tension completely forgotten. As they continued to talk, it was clear that this was just the beginning of something special, and both Y/N and Oikawa couldn't wait to see where it would lead them.
