Chapter Five: Mortal or God?

Start from the beginning

"Run." the elder whispered, his voice echoing in my mind.

The scene began to blur and I felt a sudden jolt.

* End of dream*

I awoke with a start, my heart pounding and my body drenched in sweat. The dream lingered in my mind, vivid and haunting.

I began to look around my surroundings and found myself in a strange room, the unfamiliar environment causing a moment of disorientation. As I slowly became more aware of my surroundings, a nurse entered the room, introducing herself and checking my vital signs.

"Where am I?" I asked, my voice hoarse.

The nurse offered a reassuring smile, explaining that I was in the infirmary of Asgard's royal palace, where I had been brought after collapsing. She promised to fetch the doctor to provide further assistance before hurrying out of the room.

Alone once more, I sat up in the bed, my thoughts swirling with unanswered questions.

That wasn't just any ordinary dream; it was a vision of the past. A glimpse into a past that held vital secrets about my lineage. But who was that elder, and why did that Norseman look so familiar?

My mind then began to recall the whirlwind of events that had recently transpired, and I felt a sense of resignation settle over me.

Accepting Odin's terms had been the only option to save Fjellheim, despite the weight of the sacrifice I had been forced to make.

As I glanced out the window, watching as the sun began to rise, casting a warm glow over the horizon.

"It's morning again? Wait, how long was I out for?" I wondered aloud, my voice barely a whisper.

Before I could dwell on the question further, the doctor entered the room, introducing himself with a friendly smile. He inquired about how I was feeling, his demeanor warm and reassuring.

"I'm... I'm fine, doctor." I replied hesitantly, my mind still a little disoriented from the ordeal. "But how long was I unconscious for?"

"You've been out for half a day." he said bluntly.

I gave him a shocked expression to which he chuckled softly at my expression.

He continued, "It's quite remarkable, really. Most people would take months to fully recover from an attack by Mjolnir—or, in most cases, they wouldn't survive at all. But your special healing abilities, your lineage, seem to have accelerated your recovery significantly."

I listened in silence, my mind racing as I processed the doctor's words.

Everything was beginning to fall into place—the strange sensations, the past memories that had resurfaced. Then I began to remember what Captain Ragna asked me before Thor attacked us with Mjolnir.

"Are you truly human?"

I am... aren't I? The stories never mentioned anything about the Yggdrasil being divine... unless it was a hidden secret.

Lost in my thoughts, the doctor's voice gently pulled me back to the present.

"Are you ready for the tests, Lady Y/n?" he asked kindly, his expression sympathetic.

I blinked, momentarily dazed, before nodding in understanding. For a moment, I was confused by the formal address.

Lady Y/n? I thought.

It took a moment for me to remember that as Thor's fiancée, this was the kind of respect I was now accorded.

"Y-yes, of course. I apologize for my daze." I replied softly, feeling a pang of guilt for my distraction.
